Godless Democrats Apply "Chicago Rules" On Voice Vote

The Democratic National Convention (a.k.a. Freakshow 2012) is in turmoil after the platform was adopted without God being mentioned and any reference to Jerusalem as the capital of Israel was dropped.

They made matters worse when a voice vote was ordered on the convention floor to amend the adopted platform to include God and referencing Jerusalem as Israel's capital after the GOP hit hard.

Convention Chairman Antonio Villaraigosa had to call for three votes, each requiring 2/3 "yea" votes to pass.   By no stretch of the imagination did a vote come to the required 2/3 vote in the affirmative.  Yet Villaraigosa then adopted "Chicago rules" and ruled the amendment passed.  This caused an uproar on the convention floor with many delegates booing the convention chairman.

This is, as talk-show host Hugh Hewit noted:

A true debacle and revealing on so many levels --the precariousness of the Jewish vote, the genuine anti-Israel sentiment on the floor, and the disregard for the rules when inconvenient.

Womanizing Sleazies To Run and Headline Democratic National Convention

It is amusing that the Democratic National Convention will be chaired by Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.

Villaraigosa has been one of the most ineffective big-city mayors in the United States.  Los Angeles is saddled with debt, much of it from the sweetheart public employee pension deals made with the public employee unions.

Villaraigosa was too cowardly to even debate his opponent on the issues during his re-election campaign.

It is also amusing to see that while the Democrats are trying to label the Republicans as anti-women (i.e., "The War On Women"), they chose Villaraigosa to chair their convention.  Villaraigosa, in the tradition of the womanizing Bill Clinton, was caught having an affair with a television news reporter.

Speaking of Bill Clinton, he is to give the Democrats the convention keynote address.  This is the same Bill Clinton who lied about his affair with Monica Lewinsky and who was involved (some say rape) with other women including Kathleen Willey, Juanita Broaddrick, Paula Jones, Gennifer Flowers, et al.

Oh, yeah.  The Democratic National Convention is sure to be inspiring.  

Villaraigosa's Idiotic "Tsunami" Statement

Leave it to L.A.'s playboy Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa (a.k.a. El Pollo Antonio) to make a stupid statement. He likened California's budget and tax battle to Japan's earthquake and tsunami.

A coalition of local government officials, students, teachers, unionists and business leaders joined a call on Monday, urging Republican legislators to support California Governor Jerry Brown's budget proposal.

The coalition made the call after Brown and a group of Republican lawmakers had failed to reach compromise on ways to address the state budget crisis over the weekend.

"I think it's absolutely outrageous that these people (Republican state legislators) would abdicate their responsibility, sign on to some ideological pledge that says they won't raise revenues even when the state is stuck underwater," Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said on behalf of the coalition.

"This would be a tsunami when you think about the devastating impact on families," he said. "My hope is that they'll get back to the table and be responsible, and put this on the ballot. That's all we're asking."

To eliminate the state's 25-billion-dollar budget deficit, Brown wants to ask the voters to decide whether to extend billions in sales, income and vehicle taxes for an additional five years, but Republicans oppose his proposal.

A tsunami?! Stuck underwater?! Thousands of people died, were injured and left homeless due to the March 11 earthquake and tsunami and Villaraigosa says that the GOP's insistence of budget cuts, holding down taxes and reforming the state employee pension mess (a money-laundering operation for the public employee unions) will have the same effect on families. Incredible!

The mess in Sacramento was caused by his own party, with a little help by ex-Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger. They have no desire to fix the fiscal mess in Sacramento as it would run counter to the interests of the Democrat Party's constituency groups.

California taxpayers are already being taxed to death and the politicians demand more out of them. The idiocy of Villaraigosa is mind-boggling!

An Arizona power commissioner sent a letter to Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa yesterday stating that if L.A. goes ahead with their boycott of Arizona after that state voted to enforce U.S. Immigration laws, they will pull the plug on providing power to Los Angeles.

NBC Los Angeles is reporting:

In a letter to the city of LA, a member of Arizona's power commission said he would ask Arizona utility companies to cut off the power supply to Los Angeles. LA gets about 25 percent of its power from Arizona.

"That is one commissioner who has that idea -- whether he can do that or not is another idea," said LA Councilman Dennis Zine. "They are the ones who have to make the move, not us."

The commissioner's power grid play is in response to the city's approval of a resolution directing city staff to consider which contracts with Arizona can be terminated.

Part of Arizona Corporation Commissioner Gary Pierce's letter reads as follows:

If an economic boycott is truly what you desire, I will be happy to encourage Arizona utilities to renegotiate your power agreements so Los Angeles no longer receives any power from Arizona-based generation.

I am confident that Arizona’s utilities would be happy to take those electrons off your hands. If, however, you find that the City Council lacks the strength of its convictions to turn off the lights in Los Angeles and boycott Arizona power, please reconsider the wisdom of attempting to harm Arizona’s economy.

Is the Los Angeles City Council willing to lose 25% of the city's power supply over politics? I doubt it. But you never know just how stupid the City Council can be.

I should also mention that the Los Angeles City Council is dominated by left-wing Democrats.

L.A. To Eat Jackson Funeral Bill, Says Mayor

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, back from his African vacation, hit back on critics who criticized the city's expenses that were incurred for Michael Jackson's memorial service at Staples Center last week.

"This is a world-class city, and we provide fire and police protection, period," Mayor Villaraigosa said. "The idea that we would charge the family for a funeral is nonsensical."

Excuse me, Mayor, but Michael Jackson was a private citizen and most private citizens pay for their own funerals and the security motorcycle escorts that accompany funeral motorcades. And what the hell does "world-class city" mean? It is also the city's responsibility to provide police and fire protection.

The city is heavily in debt, and to expect taxpayers to foot the bill for Jackson's funeral/memorial services is grating. Jackson's family are millionaires, so they should pay for their own funeral expenses.

Villaraigosa also criticized the website that was set up by his own staff to raise money to defray the city's costs. $35,000 dollars in donations from about 1,800 people has been raised to date. Villaraigosa called it a "ridiculous" move.

The cost to the city has been estimated to be from $1.4 million to $4 million.

I heard a tape recording of Villaraigosa's remarks yesterday and he was rambling and virtually incoherent.

Villaraigosa Dating Another TV Reporter

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio ("El Pollo Antonio") Villaraigosa is dating another television reporter, according to a story at FoxNews.com:

The Los Angeles Times reported Tuesday that Lu Parker, a KTLA-TV reporter and anchor in Los Angeles and a former Miss U.S.A, has been dating Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa since March 2009.

Parker anchored a newscast Sunday during which she announced Villaraigosa's prospects of running for governor in 2010.

Station executives, however, insist that her relationship with the mayor does not present a conflict of interest.

"Now that we're aware of the relationship, she will no longer be covering local politics," KTLA-TV news director Jason Ball told the newspaper. "I have the utmost faith in Lu Parker's abilities."

Election Day In Los Angeles

Today is election day in Los Angeles. I hope you vote for Walter Moore for mayor.

The best we can hope for is to force Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa into a run-off election. If successful, then the fireworks will really begin and Villaraigosa will have to debate Moore.

Again, vote for Walter Moore so we can restore good govenment to Los Angeles.

UPDATE (3/4/09): Villaraigosa was able to avoid a run-off election, but his crony Councilman Jack Weiss (running for city attorney) was forced into a run-off. It is too bad that people in L.A. aren't interested enough to go out and vote.

The Los Angeles Times endorsed Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa for re-election today. That's really no surprise. The Times has always (at least since it became a liberal newspaper after the stewardship of the Otises) tried to ally itself with the power elites in the city. They really have never bucked them.

The Los Angeles Times endorsement editorial starts off saying that Villaraigosa beat James K. Hahn due to his "lackluster performance" but goes on to say that Villaraigosa "in some sense" is where Hahn was then. It is more than "some sense," Villaraigosa has only been an 11% mayor (from a study conducted by another newspaper).

The Times also states that Villaraigosa "squandered his goodwill with his less than straightforward handling of his extramarital affair." Well, for goodness sake, if his wife couldn't trust him, why should the voters trust him?

Villaraigosa is lauded for his skills as a "power broker" and "deal maker." I don't see any results except for tax and fee hikes and capitulations to union boss demands. Maybe that's why Villaraigosa is refusing to debate Walter Moore. He is afraid to defend his record in a debate. El Pollo Antonio (The Chicken Antonio)!

The endorsement says, "We still hold out hope that Villaraigosa can become a great mayor." In other words, we're still waiting after four years! Seems hardly a ringing endorsement (more like a back-handed slap). That is sure to instill confidence with the voters.

The Times shows its idiocy by saying (in answering the Mayor's critics), "The Times rejects the naive calls for Villaraigosa to spend more time in the city, at his desk." They appear to think it's okay for the Mayor to run around with presidential candidates and grandstanding for the press. He's never met a camera he didn't like.

If that's what the Los Angeles Times calls being a mayor deserving of re-election, I'm glad that I am supporting Walter Moore instead.

The Times blew a great opportunity to restore some (what little they had) professional credibility. Instead, they fell back to their old ways of kissing the the asses of the city's liberal power elites.

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa refuses to debate attorney Walter Moore on the issues during this year's mayoral campaign.

Moore is the only candidate who has qualified for matching campaign funds. Villaraigosa declined to participate in the matching funds program so he can't be forced to debate Moore.

Villaraigosa's horrid record as mayor should be debated and he should be forced to defend that record. By refusing to debate, Mayor Villaraigosa, besides being a lousy mayor, is also showing that he's a coward.

2009: Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

2008 is gone (I'm not sad about that) and ended on a promising note for me personally. 2009 will have its own challenges with new leadership in the White House and a larger Democrat majority in the Congress. Thankfully, they are not filibuster-proof, so the GOP can block the more wacko plans of the Democrats.

As of now, the only thing I am looking forward to is more work (although I am still looking for something better) with the claims adjusting company I started with last month. That, plus the position with Securitas, is keeping me in cash for now. At least the urgency is no longer there for a better job. The claims position allows me to work from home, which I am enjoying.

G-FEST XVI is planned for July on Independence Day weekend. We are still working to secure interesting special guests. More articles are in the works for G-FAN and the G-FAN Travel Guide To Kaiju Japan is progressing.

It is hoped (at least from my perspective) that we can replace Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa with Walter Moore as Los Angeles Mayor.

The best thing to do now is to remain optimistic and keep at it.

Walter Moore For Los Angeles Mayor

Since 2005, Los Angeles has had only a part-time mayor.

L.A. Weekly, a local Los Angeles newspaper conducted a study months ago and found that Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa has only conducted official city business an average of 11%. That's why he's called the "11% Mayor." Considering his hare-brained tax and housing plans, maybe 11% isn't so bad after all.

Villaraigosa has been a joke (a rather bad one) since his election. The topper was the disclosure that he had an affair with a Latina reporter, who was covering him for a local Spanish-language television station.

This year, instead of dealing with the city's problems, he spent much of his time out campaigning out of state for Sen. Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign and currently serves as an "advisor" for President-elect Barack Obama's transition team.

Los Angeles can do better than Villraigosa. The only viable candidate for mayor is Walter Moore, a local attorney instrumental in Jamiel's Law. He has raised enough in campaign contributions to qualify for matching funds.

His website now is offering yard signs and bumper stickers. The election for Los Angeles Mayor is March 3, 2009.
