The Second Amendment is Not Up For Debate

The Democrat Party is hell-bent on trying to strip away our Second Amendment rights state-by-state.

The Republican Party is trying to protect those rights. 

Congressman Jason Smith has an opinion piece posted in the Wayne County Journal Banner on this subject.

He begins it with:

The Second Amendment is not a suggestion. It is a constitutional right enshrined into law by our Founding Fathers, but Democrats across the nation have made it their mission to strip that right away.

Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger just signed legislation making it illegal to sell, purchase, or manufacture certain types of firearms in her state — without question infringing on citizens’ constitutional rights. If Democrats had their way, Missouri and the rest of the country would follow suit. This is not just a Virginia problem. This is the Democrat agenda: strip law-abiding Americans of their right to defend themselves, one state at a time.

Americans Want Leaders and Judges Who Strictly Follow The Second Amendment

It is often said that the political party who best reflects the views of the voters will win.

That is especially true when it comes to the Second Amendment. President Trump's campaign pollster has found that Americans want leaders and judges who strictly follow the Second Amendment.

The Reload reported:

The company that ran President-elect Donald Trump’s polling operation has released a new poll showing widespread support for judges and politicians to prioritize gun rights.

The poll, conducted by McLaughlin and Associates and sponsored by the Second Amendment Foundation, was released on Tuesday. It found 77 percent of voters agree it’s “important” that federal judge appointments make it “a priority to try their best to strictly follow the 2nd Amendment.” Another 76 percent said it’s “important” for national political leaders to “protect and defend the 2nd Amendment Rights.” Fewer than 20 percent of respondents said neither was important to them.

“Americans continue to cherish their Second Amendment Rights as the results of our recent national survey clearly show,” Jim McLaughlin, CEO of the polling firm, said in a statement.

Additionally, the poll found 63 precent expect Trump to prioritize protecting their gun rights and 59 percent believe Republicans will do a better job protecting those rights than Democrats.

California: GOP Introduces Bills To Curb CARB's Regulations

The California Air Resources Board's recent "tweaking" of emissions regulations could potentially ban the sale of gasoline and diesel recreational vehicles and jack up the price of gasoline.

There's a glimmer of hope for California. Republican lawmakers have introduced bills that would curb CARB's regulations with a review process. 

That is, if the Democrats who control the state legislature pass them and Gov. Newsom signs them.

In early November we reported that the California Air Resources Board (CARB) had tweaked regulations applying to state oil refineries. The Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) was designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions as the Golden State moves toward a 2045 goal of zero emissions. The fine-tuning of LCFS requires oil companies and other polluters to buy credits to avoid pollution penalties. Critics say the tweaks could blast gas prices up by as much as $1.50 per gallon in the long term. But some California lawmakers want to curb CARB. Bills before the legislature would kill the CARB regulation—and more.

California lawmakers want to curb CARB with a review process

Republican Senator Brian Jones (R-San Diego) and Assemblymember Joe Patterson (R-Rocklin) introduced legislation taking aim at CARB’s action. SB2, crafted by Brian Jones, would kill the CARB tweak. Jones told California media abc10.com, “It has an urgency clause in it. So if it passes the senate and the assembly and the governor signed it, which would be great, then it goes into effect immediately.”

The other bill, AB34, would require any new CARB regulations would have to be analyzed by the Legislative Analyst’s Office (LAO) prior to going into force. Joe Patterson, the bill sponsor, commented, “Take a look at their proposals and then tell the legislature and the public how much that’s going to increase the cost of gas, or potentially the cost of electricity as well.”

Gallup: Republican Women Own More Guns Than Democratic Men

Here's something that should not be surprising, but it seems to be.

A recent Gallup poll survey (in October) found that more Republican women own firearms than do Democrat men.

A recent Gallup survey has revealed an intriguing demographic trend: Republican women are statistically more likely to own firearms than Democratic men. The findings, which have ignited a spirited national debate, underscore the cultural and ideological divides surrounding gun ownership in the United States.

The survey, conducted in October, examined firearm ownership across political and gender lines. According to Gallup, 43% of Republican women reported owning at least one firearm, compared to only 27% of Democratic men.

Another Snow Day, Etc.

Last night, I managed to get about seven and a half hours of sleep after staying up election night to 1:00 am. I feel more rested. I woke up to another snow day. 

Speaking of election night, I thought of all of Donald Trump's sons, Barron looks the most like his dad, just 7 feet tall. 

I am pleased that Trump won and that the GOP has control of both houses of congress. Finally, problems in the country will be fixed. (Cross your fingers.)

It is funny how the finger-pointing is going on in the media and within the Democrat Party on why Kamal Harris lost. It really boils down to her. She was a lousy candidate who couldn't (or wouldn't answer questions) and really didn't hold press conferences. She never had been tested in a hard-fought campaign before. The elections she had in California were essentially just exercises of handing offices to her. 

The Democrat Party was rejected over their crazy policies such as open borders, gender surgeries for inmates and children, males in women's sports, locker rooms and restrooms. People have had enough. They will eventually be relegated to minority party status unless they do some serious soul-searching and move more to the center of American thought. They are too far left and have been taken over by lunatics. I seriously doubt that Jack Kennedy or FDR would recognize today's Democrat Party if they came back for a day. 

It looks like the DOJ is dropping the prosecutions against Trump. We'll have to see. 

Today, it looks like I'll be spending my day indoors again as another snow storm has arrived and left about an inch or two overnight.

2024 RNC Ends On High Note

The 2024 Republican National Convention is now in the history books.

By all appearances, it was the best-run convention in years, probably dating back to the Reagan conventions (I should know, I attended them as part of the California Delegation). It was well organized and all of the speakers kept to the script. 

Former President Trump's acceptance speech was probably one of the longest speeches ever, around 90 minutes, but it was never dull.

Trump recounted the shooting of July 13 and paid tribute to Cory Comperatore, whose firefighting jacket and helmet were on display on the stage. He kept to his themes of making America great again. He only said Biden's name once.

There's no way the Democrats can put on a convention comparable to the GOP's. They don't even know who they are going to nominate. As days pass, it appears more likely the Joe Biden will withdraw, perhaps this weekend.

Semiautomatic Firearm Ban Passes Colorado's House

This is what one can expect when a western state is infested by Democrats and they take over the reins of that state's government.

Colorado used to be pretty much a reddish (or Republican) swing state until Democrats from California and other liberal areas moved there, bringing along their leftist politics. We see this currently happening in the state of Arizona. We've seen how they've made a mess out of California with the state's one-party government.

The Midland Daily News reported:

DENVER (AP) — Colorado's Democratic-controlled House on Sunday passed a bill that would ban the sale and transfer of semiautomatic firearms, a major step for the legislation after roughly the same bill was swiftly killed by Democrats last year.

The bill, which passed on a 35-27 vote, is now on its way to the Democratic-led state Senate. If it passes there, it could bring Colorado in line with 10 other states — including California, New York and Illinois — that have prohibitions on semiautomatic guns.

But even in a state plagued by some of the nation's worst mass shootings, such legislation faces headwinds.

Colorado's political history is purple, shifting blue only recently. The bill's chances of success in the state Senate are lower than they were in the House, where Democrats have a 46-19 majority and a bigger far-left flank. Gov. Jared Polis, also a Democrat, has indicated his wariness over such a ban.

Open Letter To The New Mexico Legislature

An open letter to the New Mexico legislature (I already sent an email version):

Don't be stupid!

There are several bills that infringe upon New Mexicans' Second Amendment rights that are before you during this legislative session. With the exception of the proposal of tax credits for buying a gun safe (a good idea), none of the bills before you are worth voting for. They will be either ineffective, unconstitutional, a gift to the trial lawyers or a gross infringement of rights.

I must remind you that this is an election year. If you vote to pass anti-Second Amendment laws this year, angry citizens will be out to the polling places in droves this November and they will remember your treasonous vote against their rights. You will be jeopardizing your political future if you vote to pass these bad bills.

Don't be stupid, vote no on these bills!

Kevin McCarthy Ousted As Speaker

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is now ex-House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.

A GOP revolt led by Rep. Matt Gaetz voted McCarthy out of the speakership today. I have to admit that I didn't see this one coming.

The House of Representatives is officially in recess — closed for business — with the ousting of Speaker Kevin McCarthy in a historic vote on Capitol Hill, Tuesday.

Eight Republicans voted to remove McCarthy; the Democrat caucus vowed that they were going to be united in not getting involved, all of them voting to oust McCarthy, the first speaker removed since 1910.

Before the final vote, 11 Republicans voted to advance the motion to vacate to the full House.

It will be interesting to see who becomes the next speaker.

House GOP Wastes No Time To Hold Ousted Twitter Execs Accountable

Three Twitter former executives will be held accountable for suppressing and censoring the Hunter Biden laptop story during the later part of the 2020 election by a House oversight committee.

The Western Journal reported:

The earliest days of the Republican-controlled House are already showing results.

The three former Twitter executives responsible for censoring the Hunter Biden laptop story — a story that could well have turned the 2020 election — have gotten a formal invitation from the chairman of the House Oversight Committee to explain their decision to the American people.

The answers are going to shape the rest of the Joe Biden presidency — and the nation’s view of the FBI.

In letters released Wednesday, Kentucky Rep. James Comer wrote Vijaya Gadde, Twitter’s former head of legal policy; Yoel Roth, the social media giant’s former head of “trust and safety”; and James Baker, Twitter’s former general counsel, notifying them that their attendance is required on Capitol Hill “the week of Feb. 6.”

They have until Jan. 18 to reply. As National Review noted, if they don’t wish to appear voluntarily, the committee can take steps to compel it.

All three have left the company since mega-billionaire Elon Musk purchased it. Gadde and Baker were fired.

Roth resigned, explaining in an interview with journalist Kara Swisher that he’d concluded that Twitter under Musk’s leadership would be a never ending series of disasters.

Rep. Kevin McCarthy Loses 2nd Ballot For Speaker

Hard-line conservatives of the Republican House caucus again defeated Rep. Kevin McCarthy's bid to become Speaker of the House in a second ballot vote. McCarthy needs 218 votes to become Speaker.

This sort of thing (more than one ballot for speaker) hasn't occurred since the Civil War era.

According to Politico:

Kevin McCarthy again failed to secure the votes for speaker in a highly unusual second ballot, as his dozen-plus detractors refused to relent in their push for fresh leadership atop the party.

This time, conservative hero Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) personally urged his colleagues to back McCarthy in a speech before the vote. Instead, 19 Republicans voted for Jordan on the floor — again sending GOP leaders scrambling.

It’s a stunning prolonged chaos on the first day of the new Congress. McCarthy and his allies will now attempt to quell the revolt, preparing members to take repeated votes as pressure mounts from their colleagues. It marked only the second time since the Civil War that a party needs multiple attempts to choose its leader on the House floor — with all business in the chamber, even the swearing-in of members, halted until a speaker is chosen.

It looks to be a long night.

NM House GOP Elects All New Leadership

It is a small wonder that some Republicans in New Mexico are demanding that Chairman Steve Pearce be replaced.

Despite the bumbling of the Democrat Party of New Mexico over the past two years, the New Mexico GOP only picked up one one seat in the NM House. That is a dismal record!

At least the Republican House caucus has cleaned house (pun intended) and elected new leadership over the weekend.

The Piñon Post reported:

On Saturday, the New Mexico House Republicans elected new leaders of the GOP caucus, propelling three new faces to all of the leadership positions. 

In a surprise move, GOP Caucus Leader Jim Townsend (R-Artesia) decided not to seek a third term in the position, although he will still remain a representative in the New Mexico House. The caucus elected Rep. Ryan Lane (R-Aztec) to succeed him in the vacant position.

House Republicans elected Rep. Jason Harper (R-Rio Rancho) to succeed GOP Whip Rod Montoya (R-Farmington) for the caucus whip position. 

Rep. Gail Armstrong (R-Magdalena) was chosen for the House GOP caucus chair position, succeeding retiring Rep. Rebecca Dow (R-Truth or Consequences), who did not run for reelection and will be leaving the chamber. Republicans now hold 25 seats in the 70-member lower chamber, a net pickup of one seat.

The NMRP needs to follow suit and pick all new leadership.

Red Wave Turned Out To Be A Red Trickle

Last night's midterm elections just proved once again that "stupid people should not be allowed to vote." Maybe they just want their "free stuff" and don't care that the country is being destroyed. The question has been raised, "If you wanted to destroy America, what things would you do differently than that the Democrats have been doing?" The likely answer has been, "Probably nothing."

This has to be the What The F*ck? election.

What was expected to be a Republican "red wave" turned out to be a "red trickle", if even that. New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham successfully fought off Mark Ronchetti to win reelection. It is a dead heat in the race between Rep. Yvette Herrell and Gabe Vasquez in a gerrymandered district is downright sad. She has been a good member of congress and doesn't deserve this. 

I could go into the national races in other states, but I don't wish to be aggravated. But I'll just say something on two. Arizona, once "Goldwater Country", appears to be a basket case now. I don't think even Barry Goldwater could win there these days. California got what it deserves, it reelected Gov. Gavin Newsom, a total leftist lunatic. Glad I got out of there. We'll likely see the exodus out of Commiefornia increase.

At least John Block won his New Mexico House race. (Congratulations, John!) Cibola County has a new Magistrate Judge, Tony Mace. He won easily as he was unopposed. Although a Democrat, Mace was a good sheriff and will make a good judge. 

The GOP should have done much better. I don't know if people hadn't been paying attention to what's been going on during the past two years or their ideology has totally blinded them to reality. Or maybe they are just happy with chaos. 

One must shake their head over the results and say, "Crazy! Just crazy!"

Reports of Voter Intimidation In Otero County

Some election officials are already pulling some shenanigans (I could use a stronger term) during early voting in New Mexico. The following is allegedly happening in Otero County.

According to an article in the Piñon Post:

Tuesday is Election Day, and there are some reports already of voter intimidation during early voting that concluded on Saturday. 

According to elections expert Erin Clements, Otero County Clerk Robin Holmes “is telling her poll workers that if voters want to use their own blue pen to fill out their ballots… to WRITE DOWN THEIR NAMES AND REFER THEM TO THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY,” adding, “That’s  VOTER INTIMIDATION from a public official!”

According to NMSA 1-12-57, “After marking and preparing a paper ballot in a polling place, the voter: A. shall not show it to any person in the polling place in such a way as to reveal its contents; And B. shall feed the paper ballot into the electronic vote tabulator.” 

Therefore, the poll workers should not be able even to know if the individual used a blue or black pen to fill in the ballot.

Let's get one thing straight, voter intimidation is illegal, no matter who is doing it!

Since I blogged this article earlier today. I looked further into this. One has to wonder just who were the ones complaining. Robin Holmes is a Republican, so it seems odd that she would be trying to intimidate anyone. Intimidation is the Democrat modus operandi, not Republican. Maybe Democrat plants? Just be extra cautious when voting.
