Who wants to live 150 years?

A Chinese startup claims that a revolutionary formula that will lead to a pill to lengthen one's longevity to 150 years.

The Mirror US reported:

A Chinese startup claims to have developed a laboratory-created formula for a revolutionary pill that could stretch human lifespan to an incredible 150 years.

Lonvi Biosciences says its breakthrough formula goes after 'zombie cells' within the body. These aging cells stubbornly refuse to perish and instead linger around, sparking inflammation and age-related illnesses.

This reminds me of an exchange in Dark Shadows between Barnabas Collins and Willie Loomis about eternal life. The pertinent part comes at the end.

The only people mad about the capture of Nicolás Maduro from Venezuela are Russia, China, Iran and Democrats. Notice a pattern here?

There's a few panty waists around who whine that President Trump has to get congressional approval for this kind of operation.

CIA Cover-Up On Havana Syndrome Attacks Alleged

This really doesn't surprise me in the least.

Considering the shenanigans the CIA (and FBI) engaged in over the past several years, it would not surprise me that a cover-up is taking place on the "Havana Syndrome" attacks at the Havana, Cuba U.S. Embassy.

The Washington Times reported:

A former CIA officer who says she was attacked by some type of foreign energy weapon is charging the CIA with covering up the attacks.

The medically retired CIA officer, identified only as “Alice” because of her past agency work in Africa, revealed that she still suffers debilitating injuries after hearing a strange sound in her home in 2021, resulting in what the federal government is vaguely describing as an “anomalous health incident,” or AHI.

The malady, however, is known widely as Havana syndrome by the hundreds of U.S. diplomats, intelligence personnel and military members who say they have been afflicted after being posted overseas. An FBI agent also reported suffering head injuries from some type of energy device attack in the United States.

China and Russia are suspected of conducting the attacks that some analysts say are part of cognitive warfare — efforts to affect brain function. Sonic or microwave weapons are also suspected.

U.S.-Asia Airfares Jump 30%

Now that the pandemic is over, demand for travel to Asian destinations are on the rise, and so are airfares, particularly those from the U.S. to China and Japan.

Nikkei Asia has posted an article on hikes in airfares since the pandemic ended.

They begin it with:

HOUSTON/NEW YORK -- Airfares from the U.S. to China and Japan rose about 30% last year as more travelers headed to the countries after pandemic-era travel restrictions were lifted.

Fares on 29 routes between the U.S. and Japan's Narita, Haneda and Kansai airports increased 20% to 50% on the year in 2023, according to an analysis by Nikkei and U.K. aviation information company Cirium.

The average increase was 25%, compared with a 7% rise the previous year.

Fares for travel from Denver, Colorado, to Narita rose 46%, as United Airlines' hub airport attracted Japan-bound travelers from other parts of the country.

The study analyzed 2023 economy-class fares from major U.S. airports to popular overseas destinations. Of the 200 routes that saw the highest price increases, 80 were to Japan or China.

Where To Buy Gold and Silver Coins or Bars and Red Flags

These days, just about every line of business and merchandising has their share of scammers.

A year ago, a couple of friends and I purchased some supposedly silver coins from an ad on Facebook. I thought that the prices of the coins were "too good to be true," but I took a chance and bought a couple.

Sure enough, they were counterfeit. They were not silver as they were magnetic. Silver is not a magnetic metal. I notified Facebook, the police and the Anti-Counterfeiting Educational Foundation (ACEF) along with my credit card company. The credit card company reversed the charge and the police now possess the coins. The scam originated from China.

I now only buy coins and bullion from dealers I trust.

GOBankingRates has an article on "red flags" to look out for when buying gold and silver coins or bars.

They begin it with:

Although coin collecting is intended to be a fun, interesting and potentially lucrative hobby, it’s also a big business — and like any form of trade, there’s always someone out there who’ll try to scam you. A recent report from Transparency Market Research estimated the value of the global coin collection market at $8.7 billion in 2022 and projected that it could surpass $20 billion by 2031.

With all that money at stake, you can be sure that scammers and shady dealers are already figuring out new ways to bilk you out of your money. Thousands of consumers fall victim to rare coin investment schemes every year, according to the Florida Attorney General’s office, and it’s “not uncommon” for individual victims of coin scams to lose more than $100,000 in a single transaction.

Amateur coin collectors are especially vulnerable to scams because they lack the expertise to determine whether the coin being sold or promoted is legitimate. In fact, as the Florida Attorney General’s office noted, few consumers ever profit from investing in rare coins because they “do not know enough information” to make smart investment decisions.

Your chances of being scammed increase when you are dealing in gold and silver coins or bars because those precious metals hold so much potential value — and scam artists know it.

Shoddy Binding On 2024 Whitman Coins Red Book

The 2024 A Guide Book of United States Coins (the Red Book) by Whitman Publishing, LLC arrived in today's mail.

I hadn't purchased one since the 1976 Bicentennial Edition.

Well, I have to say I am very disappointed in it without even reading about any coins. 

This review I posted at Amazon explains it all:

The guide book arrived, but the spine of the book was not bound onto the pages. It appeared that no glue or stitching was used on the binding. Not what one would expect for a new hardbound book. Very disappointing.

I gave it two stars because of this. After posting my review, I noticed that other purchasers had similar problems with their book purchases.

They also pointed out whom they feel is the culprit: China. The book was made in China.

Larry Lucier (who was with me when I opened the shipping box) and I glued the cover onto the spine. We shouldn't have had to do this. At least the book is usable now.

Whitman Publishing had better find a book company to make their books in the U.S.

Another Counterfeit Coin Facebook Ad

Facebook has been very lax in vetting advertising from so-called silver coin dealers and allowing obvious fraudulent ads appear on the social media platform.

The latest is a scheme to sell alleged proof American Silver Eagle coins with presentation boxes for $9.98 each by a company called Avaliry. This price is way below the current silver spot price of a little over $23.00/toz. 

I bought an American Silver Eagle Proof coin directly from the U.S. Mint at the National Money Show for $80.00. While doing so, the director of the U.S. Mint, Ventris C. Gibson, autographed my purchase.

Other similar ads have been popping up on Facebook with the same format (under different names) using a video. Some were even offering the "proof" coins for $7.98 each. No doubt these are Chinese counterfeits. 

I have notified Facebook. I am sending this blog post to Doug Davis at the Anti-Counterfeiting Educational Foundation (ACEF).

Counterfeit Coin Training For Law Enforcement

Since I and a couple of friends managed to buy counterfeit "silver" coins last year, this is a topic of interest to me.

A seminar for law enforcement on counterfeit coins will be held at the American Numismatic Association's World's Fair of Money in Pittsburgh next month.

Greysheet reported:

(Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) -- To address the mass proliferation of counterfeits plaguing the U.S. marketplace, the Anti-Counterfeiting Educational Foundation (www.ACEFonline.org) in partnership with the U.S. Treasury Department and in cooperation with the American Numismatic Association will sponsor an accredited seminar for local, county, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.

Entitled, “Counterfeit Coins, Precious Metals, Numismatic and Financial Crime Investigations,” the eight-hour seminar will be conducted on Thursday, August 10, during the ANA 2023 Pittsburgh World’s Fair of Money® in the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. Instructors for the seminar will be former Texas Police Chief Doug Davis, Director of the ACEF Anti-Counterfeiting Task Force, and Chris Hersey, Senior Special Agent in the Treasury Department’s Office of the Inspector General.

“The curriculum during the 8:30 am to 4:30 pm seminar will provide law enforcement attendees from across the country with the fundamental investigative techniques, resources, knowledge and understanding to respond effectively to the complex challenges encountered during the investigation of crimes related to counterfeit coinage and precious metals as well as other numismatic and related financial crimes,” explained Davis. 

Based on our dealings with law enforcement over the counterfeit coins my friends and I bought last year, this seminar is needed as the police we dealt with really didn't know what to do when we reported the crime. I urge police agencies around the country to attend this seminar.

I reported the matter to ACEF and dealt with Doug Davis on it. The coins originated from China.

Counterfeit 1903 Barber Dime Detection

After having been taken in by Chinese coin counterfeiters last year, the topic of counterfeit coins naturally will catch my attention when they are posted.

Such is the case of counterfeit Barber dimes. I have four Barber quarters in my collection, three are culls (what aren't worth all that much even through they are silver) and one that I found on a sidewalk, but no Barber dimes. They ae named for United States Mint chief engraver Charles Barber.

CoinWeek posted an article on detecting counterfeit Barber dimes, particularly the 1903 Barber dime. By the way, Barber dimes are composed of 90% silver and 10% copper.

They start it with:

The Barber Dime series (1892-1916) holds one of the greatest rarities in United States numismatics: the 1894-S. Fewer than a dozen of these Proof coins are currently known to the collecting world, and on the rare occasion that they are offered at auction, they command prices over $1 million (USD). Their value has attracted the attention of counterfeiters, who have created outright fakes or added an ‘S’ mintmark to an 1894-dated dime from Philadelphia. Third-party authentication is essential for any coin purporting to be an 1894-S dime.  

In contrast, such scrutiny is often absent for the business strike 1903 Barber dime. It’s not a key date, and generally isn’t worth over $100 except in Mint State condition, according to price guides. In fact, the 1903-O and 1903-S business strikes are each more valuable. Because this is a coin for which some collectors might skip certification it creates a different kind of opportunity for counterfeiters.

China Sanctions Ronald Reagan Presidential Library

This is downright silly.

China is imposing sanctions on the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California for hosting a meeting between House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen.

According to the Daily Mail (U.K.):

China is imposing sanctions against the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and other US and Asian based organizations in retaliation for the this week's closely watched meeting between the US House Speaker and Taiwan's president.

The Reagan library in Simi Valley, California, was the site of the rare high-level, bipartisan meeting Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy hosted this week for talks with Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen.

The sanctions effectively are a travel ban on the individuals in charge of the library and other groups involved in the meeting. They're also banned from working with Chinese organizations.

China, Brazil Deal Leading To Dollar Collapse?

The leftist government of Brazil and Communist China have struck a deal on Wednesday to ditch the U.S. dollar in trade transactions. The Saudis may also be involved.

According to Fox Business:

Brazil and China have reportedly struck a deal to ditch the U.S. dollar in favor of their own currencies in trade transactions. 

The deal, announced Wednesday, will enable China and Brazil to carry out trade and financial transactions directly, exchanging yuan for reais – or vice versa – rather than first converting their currencies to the U.S. dollar.  

Some are saying that if this trend continues and other nations join in on ditching the dollar, it could lead to a collapse of the greenback and lead to a new U.S. currency, controlled by you-know-who.

That is one reason why silver is pushing $24/toz spot price.

General Won't Rule Out Aliens In UFO Shoot-Downs

Ever since a Chinese spy balloon appeared in U.S. airspace last week, there's been a spate of "objects" (or UFOs) being shot down by U.S. aircraft.

The latest was yesterday when an "object" was shot down over Lake Huron. The military won't classify it as a balloon. Also, the Pentagon wouldn't rule out if aliens were involved.

According to Time: 

A U.S. fighter jet shot down a high-flying object above Lake Huron Sunday after it flew near a sensitive military site, the Pentagon said.

The shoot-down, which came on President Joe Biden’s order, is the latest in an unusual series of aerial incidents that began last week when a suspected Chinese spy balloon traversed the continental United States.

At 2:42 p.m. Eastern time, an F-16 launched a heat-seeking AIM-9X missile at an unidentified “object” flying at around 20,000 ft. above the Great Lake. It was the fourth time in eight days that the American military has been called upon to destroy a mysterious craft in midair, including three in the last three days.

Other than the first balloon, which China has acknowledged was theirs, the Pentagon doesn’t yet know what the objects are or where they came from. Asked directly, a senior military official did not rule out the possibility that their provenance could be extraterrestrial.

“I’ll let the intel community and the counterintelligence community figure that out,” General Glen VanHerck, commander of U.S. Northern Command and the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) told reporters late Sunday.

“I haven’t ruled out anything,” VanHerck said when asked if aliens could be involved. “At this point, we continue to assess every threat or potential threat unknown that approaches North America with an attempt to identify it.”

Facebook Not Too Bright, Still Posting Counterfeit Coin Ads

Facebook must not be too bright, or they may be in on the counterfeit coin scams.

Three times since I was scammed by a gang of Chinese coin counterfeiters, I notified Facebook of the scam. Yet they still allow these ads. I am sure others have notified Facebook as well. I just notified them of this one.

The latest is an ad for Canadian Silver Maple Leaf coins. Note the price: $19.99. That's below today's silver spot price, which is around $22.45 per troy ounce.

The ads have similar graphic and text. The comments below the ad have strange name. That's their typical modus operandi.

Since Facebook had been put on notice three times by me and likely others, they should be held liable to any victims of these fraudulent ads and sue the crap out of Facebook/Meta.

How Dictatorships Used Gun Control

If one wonders why Second Amendment supporters are so adamant in protecting our right to keep and bear arms, they should take a look at a new article at AmmoLand on how dictators used gun control throughout history against their citizens. 

They start it with:

Which is why he made sure no one in China could access that political power. Throughout history and well into the modern world, gun control legislation heralded the death of democracies. Usually, it preceded an attempt by the government to take full control of people’s lives. Weapon bans frequently led to human rights abuses, including massacres and sometimes outright genocide.

According to a 2022 Gallup poll, 66 percent of Americans surveyed support stricter gun laws and a sizeable minority advocate for a total gun ban. Most of these people base their opinions on recent tragic events like mass shootings and high crime rates involving firearms and refuse to believe the government would ever do anything to take away their rights.

It’s almost as if they don’t remember the lockdown. Granted, it was for the sake of public health ….in the beginning. Still, once the United States government began restricting travel and requiring the entire population to take a COVID vaccine designed in just a couple of days, as was the case with Moderna, many Americans began to view this as an abuse of government authority, especially when some who took the “life-saving” vaccine died from COVID anyway.

A government gets away with whatever its people allow. A recent attempt to ban semi-automatic firearms across the state of Illinois was met with widespread resistance. 88 percent of the state’s counties refuse to enforce the governor’s mandate, and they can because of the Second Amendment. Additionally, sheriffs work for their communities, not for the state.

Unfortunately, this has not always been the case. Many historical and current dictatorships had their start when they stripped firearms from their citizens and robbed them of their right to rebel against injustice.

Chinese Counterfeit Coin Charges Credited

Good news arrived in my mailbox.

My bank completed their investigation on the counterfeit coins and they credited my credit card $55.96 for the purchase. They also credited any related fees and adjuster interest. The claim is now closed.

However, should law enforcement investigators need any assistance from me, they will receive it. 

I am also having Anti-Counterfeit Educational Foundation (ACEF) investigate the Chinese counterfeiters and their flunkies in the U.S. 

As I have mentioned previously, the counterfeit coins are in the custody of the McKinley County Sheriff's office. 

The Counterfeiters Are Back On Facebook

They're baaack!

The Chinese counterfeit coin scammers are back running ads on Facebook. Since I discovered the fraud, this was the first time I've seen one of their ads.

While I had the ad on my screen, I reported it to Facebook and posted this blog post in the ad's comments.  

I copied and forwarded the ad to the Anti-Counterfeiting Educational Foundation (ACEF). 

Maybe this time Facebook will do something about this. They could, conceivably, be held liable for losses by people who made purchases.
