Sleepy Hollow

The second episode of Sleepy Hollow aired last night and it was a lot of fun, as was the first episode that aired last week. 

Sleepy Hollow seems to be a hit with the viewers as it has attracted the most primetime viewers of the new television season.

Breitbart's Big Hollywood website is raving about it  Some sippets:

FOX has a fun and ridiculous new show called Sleepy Hollow on its Monday night schedule. 

Sleepy Hollow harkens back to the Revolutionary War and clouds it with some Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter type mythology. Turns out that the tyrannical, over-taxing British are on the side of the devil and actually trying to bring about the end of the world, and George Washington and his merry freedom lovers are trying to save not just the future United States but the entire world. 

Told you this show was fun.  

Another aspect to the show to love is Tom Mison's Ichabod Crane who is thrust into the future with that famous headless horseman. He's against tyranny, enslavement and taxes! 

Yes, last night Crane gave a great rant about revolting against taxes when he looked at the sales receipt of some donuts that his sheriff partner/friend just bought.

The show has a similar kind of humor to it as Buffy, The Vampire Slayer did (that was my favorite show of the 1990s).

Andrew Breitbart, R.I.P.

Shocking news was posted by columnist Michelle Malkin this morning.

Andrew Breitbart has died. He was 43.

Larry Solov at Big Journalism announced:

Andrew passed away unexpectedly from natural causes shortly after midnight this morning in Los Angeles.

We have lost a husband, a father, a son, a brother, a dear friend, a patriot and a happy warrior.

Andrew lived boldly, so that we more timid souls would dare to live freely and fully, and fight for the fragile liberty he showed us how to love.

We've lost a great voice.

Skip "The Iron Lady"

It is disappointing that Hollywood's depiction of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher is another "hit piece" on conservatives we've come to expect.

Big Hollywood has a review of the new movie, The Iron Lady with Meryl Streep as Lady Thatcher.

In it, Charles C. Johnson writes:

Hollywood has learned something effective about conservative women: If you play them convincingly enough to left-wing stereotypes, people will believe that the caricature is the real deal. We saw this with Tina Fey’s portrayal of Sarah Palin where so many young people actually seem to believe Palin said she could see Russia from her house.

Expect to see a similar nasty portrayal by Julianne Moore in HBO’s “Game Change.” Moore confesses that it was hard to find a good side to Palin, and the miniseries is candid that her ambition outstrips her capacity. Hollywood knows well that you only get one opportunity to introduce these figures of national or international import, and they intend to make it bad impression on their behalf.

So it is with Lady Thatcher in “The Iron Lady,” whose creators have ridiculously compared Meryl Streep’s Thatcher to a modern-day King Lear in their disgusting attempt to dance on Thatcherism’s memory.

It looks like The Iron Lady is one to skip. That's too bad. I am a fan of Lady Thatcher and Meryl Streep is one of our greatest actresses.

Big Hollywood's "Every Which Way But Loose"

Big Hollywood's has a new article on Clint Eastwood's Every Which Way But Loose.

Thank goodness they put an article up on it or I probably would. Since I agree with their review, I won't have to.

"On Her Majesty's Secret Service"

One of my favorite movie genres is the James Bond series.

I was first introduced to James Bond in the persona of Sean Connery back in 1963 when my parents took me to see a double bill of From Russia With Love and Dr. No. I was hooked!

My family and I made it a point to see each subsequent Bond movie on its initial release in theaters.

I was disappointed when Sean Connery announced that he no longer wanted to play the role following You Only Live Twice. After all, he was James Bond!

Then, I saw a Life magazine article on the men Eon Productions had in consideration to be Connery's replacement. Of all of them, I thought Lazenby had the right look. Sure enough, Eon picked him to be the new James Bond.

The Bond movie scheduled for release, and featuring Lazenby's debut, was On Her Majesty's Secret Service in 1969. This was one of Ian Flemming's best Bond novels and it tells of Bond's tragic marriage. The screenplay by Richard Maibaum was written with Connery in mind, but Connery had other plans. What an amazing movie it would have been if Connery were paired with Diana Rigg instead of Lazenby! Rigg was already a favorite of mine with her role as Emma Peel in The Avengers. Plus, it had one of the best, if not the best, John Barry Bond scores.

As it was, On Her Majesty's Secret Service is one of the best of the Bond movies and I thought Lazenby, despite his limited acting experience, did well. I certainly would have preferred him to Roger Moore in later movies. But he had a falling out with producers Harry Saltzman and Albert Broccoli and he never starred as Bond again.

Connery was coaxed back to Bond in the following movie, Diamonds Are Forever. He had a pet charity in Scotland and Eon offered a sizable donation if he returned. This was an offer he could not refuse! Unfortunately, the movie itself was a bit of a letdown after On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Still, it was good to see Connery back. After this, he hung up his Walther PPK and turned the role over to Roger Moore.

What prompted this blog post was a retrospective article on On Her Majesty's Secret Service at Big Hollywood I just finished reading. I am in agreement with the reviewer's opinions. To read it, go here.

Union Fires Worker Over USS George H.W. Bush Clothing

A union worker working in setting up a stage for President Obama's appearance today at the University of Southern California was fired by a union boss for wearing a cap and sweatshirt of the aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush.

The union boss asked that the worker, identified as Duane Hammet, remove his hat and turn his sweatshirt inside out. Hammet refused.

According to Big Hollywood.com:

The IATSE (Local 33) union fired the worker even after he explained the shirt to his bosses. The shirt didn’t explicitly support George H.W Bush but that of the aircraft carrier named after the former President and the aircraft carrier his son has served on for the past many years and is currently deployed.

The stage at USC was for the campaign appearance of Obama supporting Democrat candidates such as Jerry Brown and Sen. Barbara Boxer.

It appears that the union thuggery state of Obama reared its ugly head again.

Wikileaks: Traitors Amongst Us

There's an article posted at the Big Hollywood blog by Greg Gutfield titled, "Wikileaks: Enemies of the State" that everyone should read.

Gutfield spells it out without mincing any words. In his article, Gutfield said:

So as you know, Wikileaks has posted a crapload of secret military reports about the Afghan war, including covert operations against Taliban figures. They claim their goal is to reveal “unethical behavior,” by the government and corporations.

On their website they write “All governments can benefit from increased scrutiny by the world community, as well as their own people.”

This is pure bullpoop, to use the scientific term.

The fact is, their goal is to only “expose” people they don’t like – meaning the United States military – and get worldwide props for it.

There's no other way around it, there's simply traitors amongst us.

Chris Nolan To Oversee Batman and Superman Movies

Big Hollywood is reporting that Chris Nolan is readying the third Batman movie (a follow-up to The Dark Knight) and will oversee a re-boot of the Superman franchise.

They report:

Warner Bros is trying to ready its DC Comics stalwart Superman to soar again on the Big Screen, and the studio has turned to Chris Nolan to mentor development of the movie. Our insiders say that the brains behind rebooted Batman has been asked to play a “godfather” role and ensure The Man Of Steel gets off the ground after a 3 1/2-year hiatus.

The last two Batman movies were critically acclaimed while Superman Returns bombed. The script for the Batman movie is now being written.

Let's hope under Nolan's leadership the two super-heroes will soar with the critics and at the boxoffice.

Big Hollywood: Ideology Of A Liberal

There's a great article over at the Big Hollywood blog, "Ideology Of A Liberal."

The article gives a number of examples of why liberalism is nothing but emotionalism and wishful-thinking. It is not based on logic.

The article states in part:

They are based upon emotion. There is no logic behind them. Hence we have the major difference. Conservatives think logically and based upon the reality seen in facts and figures. Liberals think emotionally and from idealistic goals and ambitions. The two do not mix.

Big Hollywood Added To Blog List

If you take a gander at my blog list, you will note that Big Hollywood, the latest online venture from Andrew Breitbart, has been added. Breitbart was a co-creator of the Huffington Post (I wouldn't brag about that), and he had a long-term editorial relationship with the Drudge Report, one of the most visited websites on the Internet.

Mr. Breitbart will try to redress Hollywood’s liberal bias. His site uses the “group blog” model and has already attracted plenty of offerings from conservative Hollywood thinkers. Mr. Breitbart feels conservatives in Hollywood are unfairly marginalised because of their views.

“There are people out there who have been ignored by Hollywood. The mainstream media – and Hollywood is complicit in this – has created an intellectual status quo,” says Breitbart.
