Mother's Day Shopping, Etc.

Finally, after days of rainy and cold weather, it was sunny out yesterday with 70° temperature.
This motivated me to get the mini bike going.
First, I filled up my five gallon gasoline can at the Flying J. This is for the mini bike and my zero-turn mover.
After filling the mini bike's gas tank and putting air in the rear tire (it has a slow leak), I took it for several spins around the subdivision. It worked just fine.
This morning will be my grocery shopping day in Gallup. I usually stop in the El Rancho Hotel's restaurant for breakfast on Sundays before shopping. I generally get their Monument Valley enchilada breakfast.
The restaurant had good crowds the last two times I was there. It will probably be the same today as today is Mother's Day.
This week, I will see about getting the Jeep to the mechanic's to get it working again now that the weather is a little more cooperative.
Lest I forget, Happy Mother's Day!

Gender-Neutral Mother's Day Cards
Mother's Day is coming soon and guess what the lunatics in the U.K. have put out on the market? Gender-neutral Mother's Day cards!
According to The Times of London:
Waitrose is selling gender-neutral Mother’s Day cards as retailers reduce their use of the M-word to make today’s celebration more “transgender inclusive”.
The supermarket chain is selling a “Happy You Day” card in its Mother’s Day range in which the word “mother” does not appear.
Waitrose said the move was aimed at “broadening out who the cards can go to, whether it’s grandmas or transgender mums”. Traditional cards are still sold.

Brad Sherman Admits To "Trump Derangement Syndrome"
The Looney Left Report
Rep. Brad Sherman doesn't seem to play with a full deck, if at all.
The latest is his admission of his Trump Derangement Syndrome when he spoke recently with the Los Angeles Times editorial board (they don't play with full decks either at times).
According to Breitbart:
This week in an interview with the Los Angeles Times editorial board, Rep. Brad Sherman (D-CA), who filed articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump, said “Trump derangement syndrome” was so strong with his Californian constituents, he would be forced to oppose Mother’s Day if Trump endorsed it.

I happen to live in Sherman's district. I know quite a number of pro-Trump voters in the district. Sherman probably just hangs out with his fellow loons in the area.

Mother's Day 2017
During this past year, I have been thinking about my mom more than I had been earlier. It is not that she was ever away from my thoughts, I think about her every day. But the events of the past year made me keenly aware that I really miss her wise counsel.
If she were still alive, she would have been none too pleased that I became engaged to someone less than half my age. But she would have eventually accepted Denise, provided she was of good character. I remember her saying this about some celebrity who married someone half his age: "The age difference isn't what matters, what matters is the kind of character they have and how mature they are."
She was right. As things turned out, I fell for someone of, well, questionable character. Age had very little to do with what happened. She felt that someone else in my past was also a narcissist, so she might have been able to spot those behaviors and sound the alarm last year. She was a lot more canny about people than I am.
On problems with other members of my immediate family, she would have laid down the law and not tolerate any disrespect, but in her own quiet way. But she would make her displeasure quite clear. She would tell me what irritated her about family members. But something would have to be major to cause her to reach her boiling point.
She has been gone for seven years. At times her passing seems like it took place a long time ago, but at the same time it still seems recent. It is weird how the mind works in relation to the passage of time, especially when one is older.
Besides her wise counsel, what I miss most is her sense of humor. She could be blunt in her humor, but she would never directly insult someone. My sense of humor mainly came from her.
Those of my age are fortunate to have parents who are still living. They should enjoy and cherish them while they can. The rest of us have only the memories.
So, Happy Mother's Day to all!

Mother's Day

Tomorrow is Mother's Day.
It will be the first Mother's Day since my mom passed away in January (I find it hard to believe it's May already).
Kaiju historian August Ragone lost his mom when he was 17. I could imagine it being tougher to lose a parent at that age than at a later age as I did. No matter what age you are, losing a parent is never easy.
But concerning Mother's Day, August said it best:
I think about her everyday, so everyday is Mother's Day to me.
Same here. I think about my mom every day, so everyday is Mother's Day for me too.
Happy Mother's Day to all those moms out there who are still with us and to those who no longer are.
