Kickback Day

Today will be (more or less) a kickback day as I brought in the Mustang to the mechanic to replace the accelerator/cruise control cables early this morning.

Since the Mustang is a 1989, it was hard to find a replacement set of cables in the L.A. area. But, thanks to the Internet, I was able to find one at a Fox body Mustang salvage parts specialist in Georgia. It was from a 1988 Mustang, but it is identical to 1989 ones. I went over to my mechanic's last week and he confirmed that the part is identical.

Last night was enjoyable as Jes and I went out to dinner at the Northridge (or is it Chatsworth?) Olive Garden restaurant. Since it was Mother's Day, it was quite crowded. It had been a while since I was last there (maybe over a year). Luckily, the bar area had open seating and we were able to get a table relatively quick.

The night was capped by watching She Wore A Yellow Ribbon. I never tire of that movie.

UPDATE:

Unfortunately, my mechanic found that the unit the cables attach to is cracked. We decided that it may cause the replacement cables to also break, so we ordered another unit. We'll be doing this again in a few days.

Here's the part:

Welcome To Gunnar!

Above, first picture of Gunnar.

Today, our family was on pins & needles awaiting the birth of Gunnar Pasakarnis to my second cousin Chrissy and her husband Ziggy.

Chrissy was in the hospital since last night and it appeared Gunnar was reluctant to leave the safe confines of his mother.

Finally, this afternoon, he finally gave up and arrived.

Denise, Aiden and I went to lunch at the local Olive Garden and then headed to the Winnetka Theaters to see Ride Along 2 in IMAX. During lunch and before & after the movie, I periodically checked to see if Gunnar was born yet.

Congratulations to Chrissy and Ziggy!
