Winter Weather Advisory

The above photo doesn't show it too well, but there's some snow on top of the barbecue.

We have been getting some rain, snow showers and, I think, some sleet. Most of it melts shortly after hitting the ground.

It is about 36° outside.

We are under a Winter Weather Advisory. Note that Continental Divide will have snow packed and icy road conditions along I-40. Continental Divide is only eight miles away along I-40 from Jamestown.

...LATE SEASON SNOWFALL TO IMPACT THE HIGHER TERRAIN...

.A late season winter storm system moving across New Mexico will
bring accumulating snowfall to the higher terrain through Sunday
morning. Temperatures will be cold enough for snow to accumulate on
grassy and elevated surfaces with slick travel mainly confined to
higher mountain passes, portions of the Continental Divide and
Central Highlands.

  Central Highlands, and South Central Highlands.

* WHEN...From 8 PM this evening to 9 AM MDT Sunday.

* IMPACTS...Plan on snow packed or icy road conditions. This
  includes portions of I-40 over the Continental Divide and between
  Tijeras and Clines Corners.

In & Out of Gallup

Today's big activity was to go into Gallup to get my three-month supply of meds at the "Gathering of the Nations" (a.k.a. Walmart).

I just basically went in, got the prescriptions, browsed in the auto department for about five minutes and headed out the door. When I was walking to the car, sleet started falling.

I got on the road and the sleet quit just before I reached the city limit line on Interstate 40.

The rest of the ride home was uneventful until I got home. A few snowflakes started falling as I pulled into the driveway. Then it quit after I got into the house.

Rain, Sleet Cleared The Ground of Snow

Last night, I was invited to a homemade chili dinner at the Lucier brothers' home a mile up the hill.

It was darn good chili and the six of us who were there enjoyed it (along with homemade tortillas, cookies and blueberry cheesecake). It was a nice evening of good food and conversation. We plan on having a group camp-out either this coming spring or during the summer at Bluewater Lake.

When it came time to leave, it was pouring rain (actually, it was sleet) outside. It was weird having wet hair with small ice pebbles mixed in.

Thankfully, the sleet "scrubbed" away the remaining snow on the ground. There is very little now left.

We noted that since the temperatures are getting warmer in the area, the recent 9" of snow hasn't lasted as long as the New Year's snow.
