"Warm" Morning

It was nearly 6:00 in the morning when I took the below photos.

For the past several days, the morning temperature was in the teens. This morning, it is now 40° outside. This is the aftermath of the storm system of yesterday that moved out of the area. 

The temperature was corroborated by my Weather Bug and Weather Channel apps on my phone and the National Weather Service. 

Today

A 40 percent chance of showers, mainly before 11am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 48. West wind 15 to 20 mph.

Hot Day Today

A prescription was ready for me to pick up in Gallup.

Rather than head there during the latter part of the day with higher temperatures, I elected to head there in the morning. It is a good thing that I did. According to my WeatherBug phone app, it is 95° outside. The above photo confirms it.

After getting my prescription, I headed over to The Silver Screen Café at the El Rancho Hotel for a plate of Monument Valley Enchiladas.

I have mentioned the Monument Valley Enchiladas before, but some may be wondering what they are.

According to the hotel's website, here's what the Monument Valley Enchiladas are:

Corn Tortillas, Scrambled Eggs, Crispy Potatoes, Chorizo, Green Chile, Cheddar & Asadero, Avocado, House Salsa and Warm Tortilla

The enchiladas were good, as usual. I had some coffee with them and, for some reason, the coffee tasted extra great.

While at the restaurant, I was perusing my phone and saw that the temperatures in Arizona appeared to be uniformly over 100°. I showed the map of Arizona with the temperatures to my server, Karina and we both agreed that we're better off being in New Mexico. Lake Havasu City, for example, has a forecast high of 121° today. 

Following breakfast and coffee, I went over to Albertson's market to pick up a few things, but the store was closed due to a power outage. I then headed over to Walgreen's and got a couple of things I needed. The power outage wasn't affecting them, even they are in the same shopping center.

After getting home, I spent the rest of the day inside with the swamp cooler on full. 

New Thermometer

A little while ago, I headed down to the Flying J to mail my bills at the post office inside.

After mailing my bills, I checked my mailbox and there was a note that I have a package waiting. So, I went to get it at the window. 

It was the new thermometer I ordered. It arrived a day earlier than expected.

Once I got home, I unpacked it and and mounted it on a pinon pine.

Here it is:

 

Oh, yes. I tossed the old one into the trash.

Thermometer For The GOCO Beast Barn

This morning, I took a little drive (40 miles) to Lupton, Arizona to pick up a few cigars at the Tee Pee Trading Post.

It was a nice drive with clear skies and light traffic. 

On the way back, I decided to stop at the Navajo Travel Center in Gallup to pick up something to drink. While there, I browsed around the store and spotted a Route 66-themed thermometer for $12. I have been thinking about putting a thermometer inside the GOCO Beast Barn to monitor the temperature. That way, I can either flip on the motorhome's holding tank heater or the heater I put inside yesterday to keep the plumbing system from getting freeze damage if necessary.

Even though today's high is 68°, it still gets close to and at freezing temperatures here at night.

After getting home, I got out a roll of Gorilla tape and some other things I needed to mount the thermometer on the inside wall of the GOCO Beast Barn next to the main roll-up door, this is the wall that does not receive direct rays from the sun. I put the thermometer there for more accurate temperature readings.

That little task gave me something to do for a little while. 

Looks Like My Thermometer Is Busted

For the past several days (at least since I got back from Lake Havasu), I noticed my outdoor thermometer is stuck near 40°. 

It is currently around 18° outside, so it is obviously not working.

Looks like I'll have to get a new one unless I can fix this one.
