With the exception of the 2004 G-TOUR, I don't think I've been at Narita International Airport any longer than three hours before my flight back to L.A. In the case of G-TOUR, a group of us went back into Tokyo for a few hours (we had flown to Narita from Osaka).
In case one is going to be at the Narita Airport for just a couple of hours or so and need something to do, Time Out Tokyo has some suggestions.
