Sharyl Attikisson To Testify At Senate Attorney General Confirmation Hearings

The Senate hearings for the confirmation of Loretta Lynch for U.S. Attorney General will be getting a lot more interesting this week.

The Daily Signal reported:
Former CBS reporter and Daily Signal senior independent contributor Sharyl Attkisson will testify at this week’s confirmation hearings for Loretta Lynch, who was nominated by President Obama to replace Eric Holder as U.S. Attorney General.
Attkisson, who was invited to speak on a panel of witnesses by the Senate Judiciary Committee led by Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, will address issues concerning freedom of the press.
Attkisson has been highly critical of the Justice Department in her investigative reporting of Operation Fast and Furious and the Benghazi terrorist attacks.
While covering these events, Attkisson alleges that the Justice Department illegally monitored her phone and computer.
Attkisson is suing the Justice Department (run by Eric Holder) for $35 million for tapping into her phone and computer.

Christie Gets The Proctocope While Obama Gets A Pass By Media

"Now That Christie Is Denying Everything He Sounds Even More Presidential!" - Jay Leno

I am not a fan of New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, but it appears that Jay Leno has a point. Christie seems to be taking a page from President Obama's playbook.

President Obama has denied knowledge about every scandal that has hit his administration. Benghazi, the IRS, NSA spying on Americans, Fast & Furious and so on. Thus far, the media has been going after Christie over a matter that is like "jaywalking" (according to the Wall Street Journal) in comparison to the electronic spying of Americans' phone calls while giving Obama a pass on all of his (and Hillary Clinton's) scandals.

It is plausible that Christie was deceived and didn't know about the bridge closure. Yet the media is going after him with a proctoscope because he is not a Democrat.

It's the usual double-standard by the liberal media. Go after Republicans with gusto and ignore Democrat shenanigans.

Well, there's one good thing, at least. The Amazon Kindle ebook ad for The Monster Movie Fan's Guide To Japan is appearing at The Drudge Report and in other news websites during a time of high traffic (no pun intended).

Paul Walker Dies At 40 In Car Crash

While perusing news websites earlier today, one of my "stops" was The Drudge Report.

Their big headline was the horrific death of Fast and Furious star Paul Walker. Above it was an ad by Amazon.com for the Kindle Store ebook edition of The Monster Movie Fan's Guide To Japan.

According to People magazine's website:
The actor died Saturday afternoon when a car he was in crashed and exploded in Santa Clarita, Calif. The driver also died.

Police released a statement about the accident: "When they arrived, deputies found the vehicle engulfed in flames. The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded, extinguished the fire and subsequently located two victims inside the vehicle. The victims were pronounced dead at Peopthe scene."
Apparently, the driver lost control of the car and it crashed into a fixed object and exploded. Walker was a passenger in the vehicle.

At the time of the accident, Walker was attending a charity event to help victims of the recent typhoon that struck the Philippines through his Reach Out Worldwide organization.

Walker leaves behind a 15-year-old daughter, Meadow Rain.

Mexican Beauty Queen Killed In Shootout; Fast & Furious Weapon Found At Scene

Above, Maria Susana Flores Gamez.

From CBS News:

Another weapon from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agency's controversial Operation Fast and Furious was recently recovered at a Mexican crime scene, CBS News has learned. Congressional investigators say the crime scene was likely where a recent shootout took place between reported Sinaloa drug cartel members and the Mexican military, in which Sinaloa beauty queen Maria Susana Flores Gamez and four others were killed.

Operation Fast and Furious was set up supposedly to track weapons from the U.S. into Mexico (despite no means of actually tracking them) by the Obama Administration.  2,000 weapons (including .50 caliber guns) ended up in the hands of drug cartels in Mexico where they were used to kill at least 300 people, including border patrol agent Brian Terry.

The actual motive was to blame the gun dealers (who were working for the Justice Dept.'s ATF) for the weapons ending up in Mexico so that gun control legislation would pass the then-Democrat controlled Congress.  But the fiasco involving Terry's killing blew up in their faces.

Now, following the tragedy of Sandy Hook in Connecticut, the same Obama Administration, who is responsible over the Fast and Furious fiasco, is beating the drums for gun control.

The Obama Administration has more blood on its hands than the killer of Sandy Hook.

Obama: "Communist"

Here's what has been written about President Barack Obama recently:

Well, any normal individual understands that as true but liberalism is a psychosis. O'bomber even keeps the war going along the Mexican border with projects like "fast and furious" and there is still no sign of ending it. He is a Communist without question promoting the Communist Manifesto without calling it so. How shrewd he is in America. His cult of personality mesmerizes those who cannot go beyond their ignorance. They will continue to follow him like those fools who still praise Lenin and Stalin in Russia. Obama's fools and Stalin's fools share the same drink of illusion.

Was this from Fox News?  Was it from National Review?  Was it from The Weekly Standard?  Was it from the Republican National Committee?

The answer is no to all of the above.

It was published November 19, 2012 in Pravda from Russia.  Don't believe me?  Here's the link to the full article.

If anyone should know a communist when they see one, they should.

Univision Unleashes 'Fast and Furious' Bombshell

Univision, the Spanish-language television network has dropped a bombshell on the Fast and Furious gun-running scandal by the Obama Administration.

According to The Daily Caller:

The Spanish language television news network Univision unleashed a bombshell investigative report on Operation Fast and Furious Sunday evening, finding that in January 2010 drug cartel hit men slaughtered students with weapons the United States government allowed to flow to them across the Mexican border.

How can any intelligent Latino vote for Barack Obama after this?  Attorney General Eric Holder has been covering up details with the help of President Obama, who invoked executive privilege to block disclosure to a House committee investigating the scandal.

Mexican-Americans should be angry over this.

House Votes Holder In Contempt

At least today wasn't a total loss.

The Washington Post reported:

The House of Representatives voted 255 to 67 to make Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. the first sitting attorney general in U.S. history to be held in contempt of Congress for withholding documents requested as part of a congressional investigation into Operation "Fast and Furious."

Seventeen Democrats joined the Republican majority in voting for contempt.

Today Will Be "Verrrrrry Interesting!"

In a few hours, the U.S. Supreme Count will announce its ruling on whether or not all or none of the provisions of ObamaCare is constitutional.  Either way, it will be interesting to see what transpires following the ruling.

The House of Representatives will vote on the contempt of Congress resolution on U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder for not providing the documents requested by the House oversight committee on the botched "Fast and Furious" gun-walking operation that led to the murder of border agent Brian Terry and about 200 Mexican citizens.  Several Democrats have indicated that they will vote for the resolution.

One has to ask, what Hispanic, in his or her right mind, would vote to re-elect an administration who allowed hundreds of guns into Mexico to fall in the hands of drug cartels?

Today is going to be a very interesting news day!

Heritage Foundation: President Obama's Fast and Furious Scandal Grows

From The Heritage Foundation:

On the night of December 15, 2010, U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was shot and killed by an untraceable assault weapon that was deliberately handed to Mexican drug lords by U.S. officials via Operation Fast and Furious. Ever since, the Terry family and Americans across the nation have asked how this could have happened.

And ever since, Attorney General Eric Holder has stonewalled Congress in its attempts to find these answers. Yesterday, President Obama joined this stonewalling effort, asserting executive privilege over many of the documents about the operation that Congress had subpoenaed but still had not received.

Executive privilege is legitimate when properly invoked. But even then, the Supreme Court has maintained that it is not absolute. The Department of Justice (DOJ) must provide a compelling rationale for each assertion. Shielding wrongdoing has never been a qualifying rationale.

Heritage legal expert and former Department of Justice counsel Todd Gaziano explains:

First, the Supreme Court in United States v. Nixon (1974) held that executive privilege cannot be invoked at all if the purpose is to shield wrongdoing. The courts held that [President] Nixon's purported invocation of executive privilege was illegitimate, in part, for that reason. There is reason to suspect that this might be the case in the Fast and Furious cover-up and stonewalling effort. Congress needs to get to the bottom of that question to prevent an illegal invocation of executive privilege and further abuses of power. That will require an index of the withheld documents and an explanation of why each of them is covered by executive privilege—and more.

It is now up to Congress to ascertain the specific reasoning for executive privilege with every withheld document. Even in the unlikely case it is determined that this was a proper invocation of executive privilege, the administration is still not off the hook to inform Congress of what they know.

Gaziano explains further:
[T]he President is required when invoking executive privilege to try to accommodate the other branches' legitimate information needs in some other way. For example, it does not harm executive power for the President to selectively waive executive privilege in most instances, even if it hurts him politically by exposing a terrible policy failure or wrongdoing among his staff. The history of executive–congressional relations is filled with accommodations and waivers of privilege. In contrast to voluntary waivers of privilege, Watergate demonstrates that wrongful invocations of privilege can seriously damage the office of the presidency when Congress and the courts impose new constraints on the President's discretion or power (some rightful and some not).

President Obama now owns the Fast and Furious scandal. It is entirely up to him whether he wants to live up to the transparency promises he made four years ago, or further develop a shroud of secrecy that would make President Richard Nixon blush. If the stonewalling continues, and the privilege is not waived, it will be up to the American people and the media to demand the reasoning for the cover-up.

It is also time for the media to begin responsibly covering this scandal. For more than 16 months, only a handful of reporters have appropriately researched the facts and sought answers. Most members of the national media would not even acknowledge the existence of the scandal. Reportedly, NBC Nightly News ran its first story on the scandal just this past Tuesday.

The national media must now follow the lead of their colleagues CBS reporter Sharyl Attkisson or Townhall's Katie Pavlich and investigate the specific facts and details of the operation and administration involvement. Attkisson, as you may remember, was screamed and cussed at by White House spokesman Eric Schultz in October for asking questions about Operation Fast and Furious.

Answers must be demanded. When was the first time President Obama was briefed on this operation? Given his previous conflicting testimony, when in fact did Attorney General Eric Holder become involved? What exactly did he know and when did he know it?

Despite the fact that Mexico was left in the dark by the Obama administration, this was still an international operation. If Secretary of State Hillary Clinton must approve the Keystone pipeline, wouldn't she also be consulted on this cross-border operation?

Liberals will try and pretend this operation that began in mid-2009 is connected to former President George W. Bush's administration. The media should challenge this false assertion. Operation Wide Receiver in 2006 did not remotely resemble Fast and Furious, as National Review's Andrew McCarthy has ably examined. Mexico helped coordinate it, and there was traceable controlled delivery. Even Holder admitted in testimony that you cannot "equate the two."

We will also hear that this is "election-year politics." The problem with that refrain is that this investigation has been ongoing since early 2011, well before campaign season started. It has been Attorney General Holder's evasiveness that has dragged this process closer to Election Day.

If it were not for conservative media outlets, bloggers, a few dogged reporters and the steadfastness of House Government Reform Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA), this troubling scandal would have been buried long ago.

A brave American border agent is dead. At least 200 Mexicans have been slaughtered with these weapons. Drug violence on the border remains unabated. Now, President Obama is attempting to conceal the facts of what happened. This is an opportunity for Congress and the media to demand sunlight.

Fast and Furious Cover-up!

The Obama Administration is following in the footsteps of the Nixon Administration in covering up the facts over Fast and Furious gunrunning operations in Mexico that resulted in the murder of a border patrol agent and scores of Mexicans.

Fox News reports:

Rep. Darrell Issa pressed ahead with a committee vote Wednesday to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress, despite an 11th-hour move by President Obama to exert executive privilege over the Fast and Furious documents at the heart of the dispute.
The announcement touched off a caustic debate on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee that lasted into the afternoon, as Democrats accused Issa of prosecuting a "political witch hunt" and Republicans stepped up their criticism of Holder's "stonewalling" over the Fast and Furious probe. Even for Washington, the tone at the hearing was decidedly bitter and accusatory.
The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee was first informed of the president's decision to exert executive privilege in a letter Wednesday morning, shortly before the contempt vote was scheduled.
At this point, a contempt vote on Holder is insufficient.  He needs to either resign or be impeached and removed from office.

UPDATE:  The House panel voted 23-17 to charge Holder with contempt of Congress.  Rep. Issa's statement: http://oversight.house.gov/release/issa-statement-on-committee-approval-of-fast-and-furious-contempt-report/

Family Of Brian Terry Files $25 Million Claim

I am pleased to see that the family of Brian Terry initiated this.

From Fox News:

The family of murdered Border Patrol agent Brian Terry has filed a $25 million wrongful death claim against the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives claiming Terry was killed with AK-47s that were knowingly sold under the Fast and Furious gunrunning probe to a straw purchaser for drug cartels.

In a 65-page complaint, filed in Arizona state court on Wednesday, attorneys for the family claim ATF "wrongdoing" in Operation Fast and Furious.

“ATF's failures were not only negligent but in violation of ATF's own policies and procedures," the complaint claims.

The family has also filed a claim against the Lone Wolf Trading Company seeking unspecified damages for negligence in selling the weapons to the purchaser and aiding and abetting in Mexican drug cartels’ conduct.

In a related story, the Beaufort Observer reported that new documents released last week show that U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder lied to Congress.

They report:

A new release of documents from the Justice Department January 27, 2011 show conclusively that Eric Holder lied to Congress when he said he did not know about Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry's being killed by Fast and Furious guns until "weeks" later.

I hope the Terry family wins and Holder gets thrown in jail.
