Newsom Announces November Election To Gerrymander Lopsided California

The state of California is already a one-party state, much like China and North Korea. Now Gov. Gavin Newsom wants to make it even more so through a special election on November 4.

The Daily Caller reported:

Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom announced that a special election will be held on Nov. 4, in which Californians will vote on the “Election Rigging Response Act,” a ballot measure to implement a new partisan gerrymander of the state’s House map ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.

The governor announced the election at a press conference on Thursday, which he dubbed “Liberation Day” in an apparent attempt to mirror President Donald Trump’s April 2 tariff announcement of the same name. Newsom told reporters after the conference the new gerrymandered map will be released in the next few days, and it aims to “completely neuter and neutralize” Texas’ mid-decade redistricting efforts — from which the GOP is likely to gain five House seats.

California, unlike Texas and some other Republican states, is unable to hold special legislative sessions to redraw maps as its voters entrusted the task of redrawing the state’s House lines to its Citizens Redistricting Commission in 2010, via a ballot initiative. For this reason, California voters need to approve another ballot initiative in order to greenlight a new map mid-decade — something not required in the other aforementioned states.

Despite its current map being drawn by a commission, California still boasts an overwhelming Democratic House  delegation, with Republicans representing only nine — 17% — of its 52 seats.

TSA: No Shoes, No Problem

Thank goodness that the adults have regained control of the TSA.

We don't have to take off our shoes anymore at TSA airport checkpoints thanks to Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.

I received an email from the Daily Caller which read:

NO SHOES, NO PROBLEM

Great news, everyone. If you’re flying anywhere in the near future, you won’t have to take off your shoes in the security line. 

Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem confirmed Tuesday that TSA will no longer require passengers to put their shoes through the scanner. The shoe removal policy started in 2006 in response to a man who tried to detonate an explosive device he hid in his shoe while on a flight from Paris to Miami. The device failed. 

Since that busted bombing, millions of airline customers have been subjected to metatarsal tyranny. 

Audits in years past found that the TSA missed 70% of fake weapons that made their way through the security line, but we’re supposed to believe that slipping off a sandal is going to save us from terrorism. Although, to be fair, maybe the TSA had an unofficial shoe policy none of us knew about. Cowboy boots? Wave ‘em through. Adidas Sambas? Randomly selected! 

I usually have worn slip-on shoes (like deck shoes) on days that I would be flying somewhere.  

Dems Do Not Stand For Kid With Cancer

The Democrats haven't learned their lesson from the 2024 election. That was plainly evident last night during President Trump's address to a joint session of Congress.

They either sat stone-faced, heckled or held up signs during the President's speech. They certainly haven't helped their cause with their antics.

One sight was incredible during the speech. The Daily Caller posted an article about it.

It starts with:

Democrats attending President Donald Trump’s Tuesday night speech to a joint session of Congress refused to stand when Trump honored a 13-year-old boy with cancer.

Trump addressed the joint session for over an hour and a half, during which he announced that D.J. Daniel, who has been sworn in by over 900 police departments across the county, would be an honorary Secret Service agent. Trump said that Daniel had survived for six years despite being told he had less than five months to live.

The Democrats could not muster enough class or pause their partisanship to join the applause for D. J.

Donald Sutherland Dies At 88

Actor Donald Sutherland has died. He was 88.

According to the Daily Caller:

Legendary actor, Donald Sutherland, died at the age of 88.

His death was confirmed by his son, Kiefer Sutherland, in brief messages shared online, June 20.

“With a heavy heart, I tell you that my father, Donald Sutherland, has passed away,” Kiefer wrote. “I personally think one of the most important actors in the history of film. Never daunted by a role, good, bad or ugly. He loved what he did and did what he loved, and one can never ask for more than that,” he said. Kiefer concluded his message by writing, “A life well lived.”

I first took notice of Sutherland in the Clint Eastwood war flick, Kelly's Heroes (1969). He had appeared in other favorite movies such as Animal House and Space Cowboys (again with Eastwood).

SCOTUS Overturns Bump Stock Ban

Some good news has come from the U.S. Supreme Court.

The ban on bump stocks has been overturned.

The Daily Caller reported:

The Supreme Court tossed a Trump administration-era ban on bump stocks Friday.

In a 6-3 ruling, the Supreme Court held that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) exceeded its authority when it issued a rule classifying firearms equipped with bump stocks as machine guns. The case, Garland v. Cargill, challenged the ban enacted following the 2017 Las Vegas concert mass shooting, which it implemented by interpreting a federal law restricting the transfer or possession of machine guns to include bump stocks.

Gun Owners of America Comes Out Swinging Against John Cornyn

The dust hadn't even settled after the announcement yesterday by Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell that he was stepping down in November that Texas Sen. John Cornyn announced he was running for the Senate Republican Leader post.

Gun Owners of America is not at all happy with the announcement.

According to the Daily Caller:

Gun Owners Of America (GOA) shared their concerns Thursday with Republican Texas Sen. John Cornyn after he announced his intention to run for Senate Republican Leader, just one day after Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said he would be stepping down as leader in November.

In an exclusive phone call with the Daily Caller, Aidan Johnston, the Director of Federal Affairs for GOA, said Cornyn is not a Conservative pro-gun leader, mentioning pieces of legislation that Cornyn has supported in the past, which Johnston described as gun control.

“The United States Senate deserves a conservative pro-gun leader, and John Cornyn is not that person, it seems. I’ll say every time a gun issue comes up: He’s right there with a compromise. And that’s not leadership. That’s just capitulation to gun control. Americans deserve someone who will refuse to compromise with their God-given Second Amendment rights. And unfortunately, John Cornyn is, always, always, always cutting deals with our Second Amendment,” Johnston told the Caller.

NY Jury Finds NRA Officials Liable

A New York jury found that Wayne LaPierre and other NRA officials are liable for millions of dollars in damages.

The Daily Caller reported:

A jury in New York found officials of the National Rifle Association(NRA) liable for millions in damages on Friday.

Democratic Attorney General Letitia James of New York sued the gun-rights organization in August 2020 seeking the group’s dissolution. The jury found former NRA CEO and Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre liable for $5.4 million, Fox News reported.

The jury also ruled against former NRA Treasurer Woody Phillips and current NRA Secretary and General Counsel John Frazer, but did not find them liable financially, according to TheReload. A New York judge, Joel M. Cohen, ruled that James could not seek dissolution of the NRA in March 2022.

In a breaking news story, the Daily Caller revealed that the Fulton County District Attorney and the appointed special prosecutor prosecuting former President Donald Trump have a personal relationship.

The Daily Caller reported:

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis confirmed a personal relationship with special prosecutor Nathan Wade in a court filing Friday, though denied the relationship provided her with any financial benefit.

A co-defendant of former President Donald Trump alleged in a Jan. 8 motion that Willis improperly benefited from awarding Wade a lucrative contract when he took her on vacations using money he earned from his position, claiming this was grounds to disqualify Willis and dismiss the case. Willis responded Friday by arguing that their relationship does not represent a conflict of interest and never provided her with any financial benefit. 

“While the allegations raised in the various motions are salacious and garnered the media attention they were designed to obtain, none provide this Court with any basis upon which to order the relief they seek,” the filing states.

In an affidavit attached to the filing, Wade stated that their relationship developed in 2022, and that they had no relationship other than as friends at the time of his appointment. He notes that expenses for personal travel “travel were roughly divided equally between us.”

Despite SCOTUS Ruling, Gov. Abbott Kicks Biden's Nuts

In a move that can only be interpreted as a "swift kick to His Fraudulency's nuts", Texas Gov. Greg Abbott says he has constitutional authority to repel invasions of illegal aliens.

The Daily Caller reported:

Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott doubled down Wednesday on the state’s “constitutional right to self-defense” days after the Supreme Court ordered the Texas National Guard to remove barbed wire to keep illegal migrants out.

The Supreme Court, in a 5-4 decision Monday, agreed to vacate an injunction that temporarily blocked Border Patrol from cutting wire Texas had placed along the border. Texas authorities appeared to ignore the ruling, with a video circulating on social media showing authorities setting up razor wire for the border in Eagle Pass, Texas.

The case made its way to the high court after the Biden Administration sued.

Abbott doubled down on the state’s response, invoking the Founding Fathers. 

“The federal government has broken the compact between the United States and the States. The Executive Branch of the United States has a constitutional duty to enforce federal laws protecting States, including immigration laws on the books right now,” Abbott said in a statement. “President Biden has ignored Texas’s demand that he perform his constitutional duties.”

“James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, and the other visionaries who wrote the U.S. Constitution foresaw that States should not be left to the mercy of a lawless president who does nothing to stop external threats like cartels smuggling millions of illegal immigrants across the border,” Abbott continued, citing Article IV Section 4 which says the federal government “shall protect each [State] against invasion” and Article I, Section 10, Clause 3 which says the states have a “sovereign interest in protecting their borders.”

“The failure of the Biden Administration to fulfill the duties imposed by Article IV, § 4 has triggered Article I, § 10, Clause 3, which reserves to this State the right of self-defense. For these reasons, I have already declared an invasion under Article I, § 10, Clause 3 to invoke Texas’s constitutional authority to defend and protect itself. That authority is the supreme law of the land and supersedes any federal statutes to the contrary. The Texas National Guard, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and other Texas personnel are acting on that authority, as well as state law, to secure the Texas border.”

RFK Jr. Super PAC Announces Over $11 Million Raised

Last Monday, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced that he is no longer running for president as a Democrat, but instead is running as an independent.

It appears that this move is paying off as far as campaign contributions are concerned as a super PAC (political action committee) backing his candidacy has raised $11 million since the announcement.

The super political action committee (PAC) supporting Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s presidential bid announced Tuesday that it raised over $11 million since the candidate changed his party affiliation from Democrat to independent on Monday, according to a press release.

Kennedy announced at a Pennsylvania rally that he will now run for president as an independent, following frustration with the Democratic National Committee. American Values 2024 said it received the donations within just six hours of Kennedy’s announcement from Democrats, Republicans and independents nationwide, according to the press release.

“Americans don’t like censorship or propaganda and they are tired of being lied to,” Tony Lyons, co-founder of the super PAC, said in a statement. “It’s clear that Bobby is inspiring a populist movement that unites left and right, black, and white, rural and urban, young and old.”

Gov. Newsom Signs Sweeping Radical Gun Control Laws

It is a sure bet that lawsuits will be pouring out as a result of new gun control bills signed by radical leftist Gov. Gavin Newsom in California.

As time goes on, it is more obvious to me that I made the right decision to move out of Commiefornia!

Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed several gun control bills into law on Tuesday that add heavy taxes for gun purchases and severely restrict where citizens can legally carry in the state, a video of the signing showed.

The laws will raise the eligible age to purchase a gun from 18 to 21, add an additional 11% excise tax to all gun sales and place expansive restrictions on where California citizens can carry guns, including within 1,000 feet of a school, at a public gathering, at a park, at or near a church, on a sidewalk next to a park and any parking lots. Newsom framed the move as a response to the “rights reduction” caused by gun laws that function under a “1790s framework,” a recording of the signing showed.

Governor's Gun Ban Blocked By Federal Judge

Opponents of Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham's ban on open and concealed firearms carry in Bernalillo County scored a victory when a federal judge imposed a temporary stay.

A federal judge temporarily blocked Democratic New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham’s public health order banning the carrying of guns in public, according to Reuters.

U.S. District Judge for the District of New Mexico David Urias, a Biden appointee, found the order to be unconstitutional, Reuters reported. Grisham issued the 30-day public health order banning the right to open or conceal carry guns in Albuquerque and Bernalillo County on Friday.

Hunter Biden's Plea Deal Reportedly Implodes

Despite the "sweetheart deal" that Hunter Biden was going to plead on, he was never really out of the legal woods.

Well, he's definitely back deep into the woods again as the plea deal imploded.

The Daily Caller reported:

Hunter Biden’s plea deal on tax misdemeanors charges is off, CNN reported Wednesday.

Biden had been expected to plead guilty to tax misdemeanor charges Wednesday in a Delaware court, entering a plea deal with the Department of Justice (DOJ) on the tax misdemeanor charges to avoid jail time on a separate gun charge.

The plea deal reportedly fell apart after the defense and prosecution did not agree on the scope of the immunity of coverage that Biden had, specifically if Biden would be covered from being charged on Foreign Agents Restoration Act (FARA) in the future.

Hunter Biden Charged

Hunter Biden has been charged with a gun felony and two tax misdemeanors.

The Daily Caller reported:

President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter, has been charged with a gun felony and two tax misdemeanors.

Hunter Biden was charged with illegally possessing a handgun in 2018 along with failing to pay federal taxes in 2017 and 2018.

“The first Information charges the defendant with tax offenses – namely, two counts of willful failure to pay federal income tax,” according to U.S. Attorney David Weiss’ letter. “The second Information charges the defendant with a firearm offense – namely, one count of possession of a firearm by a person who is an unlawful user of or addicted to a controlled substance.”

He has agreed to a probation agreement on the gun charge and agreed to plead guilty on the tax charges.

Tucker Carlson: Ep. 4, WANNABE DICTATOR

The "fit hit the shan" when Fox News on Tuesday broadcast a banner calling His Fraudulency Joe Biden a "Wannabe Dictator" while covering the arrest of former President Donald Trump.

This banner was only up for about 30 seconds, but Democrats hit the ceiling over it. The producer who allowed it was fired and Fox News issued an apology.

Carlson lambasted the president’s leadership in his fourth episode of the popular series, “Tucker on Twitter.” He called out the media and the Biden administration for punishing those who dare label the president with this title, including Fox News for reportedly firing an employee for labeling the president as a “wannabe dictator” in a chyron.

“If the banner on Fox was false, why the hysteria?” Carlson said. “Lies don’t seem to bother anyone anymore. If some cable news producer had called Joe Biden a genius or accused him of being secretly Sudanese, would anyone be yelling about it? Would Fox News have apologized for it? Probably not. But calling Joe Biden a wannabe dictator, that stung. So you’ve got to wonder, if you’re being honest with yourself, is Joe Biden a wannabe dictator?”

Pat Robertson Dies At 93

Televangelist Pat Robertson has passed away at age 93.

His son, Gordon Robertson reported the news via the Christian Broadcasting Network through a release. Robertson died at home surrounded by his family.

He founded the CBN in 1961.

Murderer of 5 Hondurans Deported 4 Times

There's an $80,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the Mexican national who killed five Honduran nationals in Cleveland, Texas last Friday.

CLEVELAND, Texas — Immigration officers deported the Mexican man wanted in connection to Friday night’s alleged murder of five Honduran nationals on three occasions, according to the Texas sheriff leading the investigation. The most recent removal came in 2016.

UPDATE 5/1/23 11:30 a.m.: U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials provided updated information on the suspected killer of five Honduran migrants. Officials report that an immigration judge first ordered Francisco Oropeza Perez-Torres, 38, to be removed from the United States on March 19, 2009. ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations officers deported the migrant to Mexico later that month.

Subsequent to this, Oropeza illegally re-entered the U.S. and was removed, once again, in September 2009. He was removed two more times in January 2012 and July 2016. 

In January 2012, a Texas court in Montgomery County (which neighbors San Jacinto County where the alleged murders took place) convicted the Mexican national for driving while intoxicated. The court sentenced him to an unreported period of incarceration.

FBI Special Agent in Charge James Smith announced they are assisting in the investigation and manhunt. They cautioned that Oropeza is considered to be armed and a danger to the community.

“We’re still out there trying to find this individual,” Smith said. “We consider him armed and dangerous and we’re not going to stop until we actually arrest him and bring him into custody.”

The Daily Caller reported that the suspect may have been arrested.

Authorities arrested the man believed to be responsible for the killing of five people, including an eight-year-old boy in Cleveland, Texas, Friday, NBC News reported late Tuesday.

San Jacinto County District Attorney Todd Dillon said a man believed to be Francisco Oropesa, 38, was arrested in Cut and Shoot, Texas, according to NBC. Police are still waiting to confirm the identity of the individual, who was put in Montgomery County Jail and charged with first-degree murder. 

Fed Raises Interest Rates To Highest Levels Since 2007

Well, they dood it! (As Red Skelton would say.)

The Federal Reserve Board met today and raised the interest rate a quarter of a percentage point..

The Federal Reserve hiked its target federal-funds interest rate by a quarter of a percentage point Wednesday, the ninth in a series of hikes that started in March 2022.

The hike brings the Fed’s target rate to a range between 4.75% and 5% with the Fed maintaining its pace of slowed increases. Most economists expected a quarter-point interest-rate hike in an effort to bring inflation down, but the current banking calamities contributed to the possibility of a pause, according to Bloomberg.

As of Wednesday morning, markets were estimating over 90% odds that the Fed would hike rates by a quarter-point, CNBC reported. This brings rates to their highest level since late 2007.

Biden: Banking System Is "Safe"

The man who has the "Midas Touch in reverse", His Fraudulency Joe Biden promised today that people should have confidence in the banking system after two banks went belly up last week.

The Daily Caller reported:

President Joe Biden addressed the closures of Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank on Monday, telling Americans to “have confidence” in the banking system because the administration is taking steps to hold those responsible “accountable.”

The president promised that the banks’ customers will “have access to their money” on Monday and that taxpayers will not be forced to bail out the banks.

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) took control of the New York-based Signature Bank on Sunday after the Friday collapse of Silicon Valley Bank (SVB). The collapse of SVB is the largest bank meltdown since Washington Mutual in 2008, and will likely have reverberations across the tech sector.

When Biden said that those responsible will be "held accountable" over the fiasco, two thoughts came immediately to my mind: "That'll be the day!" and "This I gotta see!" 

I don't see how anyone would have any confidence in anything Biden says or does. He's been a disaster since day one.
