Actress Valerie Perrine was finally laid to rest Thursday at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills.
As her finances were depleted due to her medical care over the years, a fundraising campaign was started at Go Fund Me and successfully raised enough for a proper service and burial. I donated to her burial fund.

Yesterday, I attended a Celebration of Life gathering in Gallup for historian and writer Martin Link.
The gathering was held at the social hall of the St. Francis Catholic Church. About 150 people attended. It included a catered lunch and drinks along with a Celtic band.

Displays of pictures and awards given to Martin Link were on several tables.
His burial was at a local Gallup cemetery in the Knights of Columbus section, thanks to a generous local. There were no available plots in the section but the owner of one provided it for Martin.
Several people spoke, including Martin's younger brother Steven.
Although I've only known Martin Link for six years, he will be missed.

Currently, I am waiting to hear from the mobile RV repair guy to see if the door lock parts have arrived so he can fix the house door so I can get back on the road to New Mexico.
It has been windy since yesterday, but having a good time at Mitch & Holly Geriminsky's in Lake Havasu. At least I am making the most of things while being stuck in Havasu.
My cousin Maria sent some photos of the reception at the funeral home following my cousin Debra Ledoux's funeral services.

Yesterday was spent attending the funeral and internment of Mitch Geriminsky's wife's father, Doug.
It was a nice, but informal, service at the Lake Havasu church of Latter Day Saints. Following the service, we headed to the cemetery, Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens. It was a nice small cemetery. It is interesting to note that the cemetery is in a residential area, where, if one has a home or apartment there, they either have a view of the lake or of the cemetery. The cemetery was there first and the homes were built around it later. It is also the only cemetery in Lake Havasu.
Afterwards, we returned to the church for lunch.
When that ended, we headed back to Mitch's to rest up. Well, Mitch and wife Holly did. I studied the owner's manual to the new Remington Model 870 shotgun in the motorhome.

Before I knew it, around 20 of us returned to the cemetery to have our "last beer with Doug". By then, his grave was filled in and the only thing of concern were the water sprinklers that were on the whole time. The gathering was light-hearted with stories of Doug's life. He was a Navy veteran who participated in the Bay of Pigs failed operation in 1961. If only JFK allowed U.S. air support, the outcome would have been much different.
This morning, Mitch and I will be going to Hobby Lobby to get a frame for the painting I gave Mitch for his birthday. We may do a video call with Asya, if her work schedule allows, while we are there.
After that is accomplished, I am heading back to New Mexico. It has been a busy six days in Lake Havasu.
By the way, Dwight Kuntz and I introduced Mitch to the Antiques Roadshow on PBS last evening. Incredible as it may seem, he was unfamiliar with it. He seemed to like it.
The other day, I saw the following Walmart ad on Facebook.
I guess this adds some convenience to one's planning for eternity, but I would never have thought one can buy a casket at Walmart.
My only questions are: Do they deliver to your home? Where would you put it?

While Mitch Geriminsky and I were staying at a motel when we attended the National Money Show in Phoenix, we saw an interesting trailer.
It was for a hearse of Last Mile Motorcycle Hearse Company. If a loved one is to go out in style, this would be a way to do it.

The hearse plays music and can display a photo of the deceased.
The operators were putting the wheel fenders on the hearse and we walked over to chat with them. They are based in Las Vegas, Nevada and can go pretty much anywhere in the Western United States. They were in town for a funeral service.

While working on a blog post of the CIA's involvement in the JFK assassination along with one of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s reaction to a Tucker Carlson report on it, I happened to see a video of the JFK funeral cortege.
It was the cortege that took JFK's casket to the Capitol to lie in state. I remember watching it when it happened and noticed one thing that stuck in my mind since (I was nine years old at the time). At one point, the caisson passes a movie theater and on the marquee was the John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara western, McLintock! Prior to this, we had gone to the movies and saw the movie and enjoyed it very much.
In the video, the caisson approaches the theater. I took a couple of screenshots of it and they are posted below. The marquee is in the background on the right.
I thought this was a bit of interesting historical trivia.
On September 21, 2021, My Mom Janice Casamero, one of the most beloved members of our family, was taken from this world far too soon due to Covid19. Gov. "Malevolent Michelle" Lujan is back and is targeting (again) restaurants and mom & pop businesses while, at the same time, allowing big-box retailers to remain open.

SANTA FE, NM (KFOX14/CBS4) — The state of New Mexico will be shutdown starting Monday, November 16 for two weeks, Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham announced.
The statewide public health restrictions were announced Friday.
Grisham and state health officials are issuing a statewide order closing in-person services for all non-essential activities in order to slow the spread of the coronavirus and to stop the strain on hospitals and health care providers.
The heightened restrictions statewide are effective through Monday, Nov. 30.
New Mexicans are instructed to stay at home except for only those trips that are essential to health, safety and welfare – such as for food and water, emergency medical care, to obtain a flu shot or to obtain a test for COVID-19.
Essential businesses – such as grocery stores, pharmacies, shelters, child care facilities, gas stations, infrastructure operations and others – must minimize operations and in-person staffing to the greatest extent possible but may remain open for limited essential in-person activities. A complete list of categories of businesses defined as essential is included in the public health order and at the bottom of this news release.
Food and drink establishments may provide curbside pickup and delivery services; on-site dining is prohibited.
Grisham's "one size fits all" approach didn't work before and drove many businesses out-of-business. Now she's back at it again.
Representative Gregg Schmedes had this reaction:
I disagree with what our governor said today. I support Focused Protection of the vulnerable, not lockdowns. Lockdowns are making people sick, leaving them more susceptible to Covid. If there's a time for overall wellness of our people, it's Now. People should be getting out and getting exercise and eating healthy. Our governor's policies of fear are like throwing salt on a wound, only leading to more pain and suffering.
Grisham didn't stop at businesses. She also targeted Thanksgiving and (can you believe it?), funerals.
Regarding Thanksgiving and Funerals, Carrie Griffis Hobbs posted on Facebook:
No gatherings in groups more than 5, no celebrations, no parties, no one at your home that does not live there, and on and on.
Per Governor Michelle Luján Grisham, “If you need to say goodbye to a family member that is not going to make it, you can do that using FaceTime”
The general consensus is that Grisham's a cold-hearted wretch!
