A very heavy monsoon storm hit the St. Joseph, Arizona area last night. St. Joseph is the home of the Jack Rabbit Trading Post.
The intense storm destroyed the trading post's famous "Here It Is" sign that sat across Route 66 from the trading post.

Actress Valerie Perrine was finally laid to rest Thursday at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills.
As her finances were depleted due to her medical care over the years, a fundraising campaign was started at Go Fund Me and successfully raised enough for a proper service and burial. I donated to her burial fund.

E Clampus Vitus is in mourning as one of its members was killed and several others were injured in a morning traffic accident Sunday in the South Sacramento area.
Action News Now reported:
PARADISE, Calif. - The Clampers (E Clampus Vitus or ECV) of Paradise are grieving Sunday after a morning freeway incident on Highway 50 in South Sacramento that ended with the death of one of their members and major injuries for four other Clampers.
The ride was held by the Vituscan Riders, made up of Clampers who love to ride motorcycles who live in Sacramento or other parts of Northern California.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) told our sister NBC-affiliate station (KCRA) that the crash involved 13 motorcycles and a car. It occurred at approximately 8:45 a.m. on Sunday, January 12, 2025.
KCRA said the CHP told them that five people were transported for medical care with major injuries, and that one person died at the hospital.
On Sunday the Paradise Clamper Humbug (president) Dustin Hawley told Action News Now that the motorcycle rider who died was a Paradise Clamper named Brian Shaw. He was 45 years old.

I checked the progress and the estimated delivery date was changed to April 16. It that is the case, I can try it out later this week. The guys and I are planning to go to the shooting area for some plinking near our community either Thursday or Friday.
Once it is in my hands, it will be the third Winchester I'll have.

Those of us with pets know how much they mean to us whether they're big or small. Deanna has been a good and devoted pet owner (and she makes a great chicken parmesan, as I can attest) and would be very grateful for any contributions.

Some good news from Deanna. She posted this last night:
Finally after 5 days in the ER, Dusty was able to come home last night. For the next 14 days the focus will be on properly medicating and easing any of his symptoms from surgery. His stump is still swollen but should go down with the anti inflammatory.
He is finally eating more, primarily hay. He took mostly water from a dropper last night. Hopefully by Monday he will be able to make it to his water bottle. He is eating enough to product 80+ pellets in 24 hours. Small but a higher quantity than the surgeon was seeing meaning GI STASIS is no longer a concern.
Dusty’s medication schedule is pretty strict at 6am, 8am, 6pm, and 8pm. Most medication requires it to be taken with food which he doesn’t always want but praying it will get better.
He has an appointment for a follow up to check the incisions in 14 days from now. I will be posting daily updates of his recovery.
Help is still needed to cover Dusty's medical bills.

This is conclusive evidence of the lengths this despicable despotic governor is prepared to go to flex her vision of autonomous tyranny!!!
Albuquerque, May 1--New Mexico State officials have fined Papas Pawn & Gun, a small business in Grants, NM, $60,000 despite the essential business owner practicing careful social distancing. Owner Diane Rowe says law enforcement officers are among those who make purchases in her shop, and she believes her rights were violated as she remained open so her livelihood wouldn't go under. Rowe took meticulous health precautions, enforced social distancing and ensured her shop never had more than two customers inside.
"On Monday, six or seven State Police officers surrounded my small shop, and it was really upsetting," said Rowe. "That was a total show of force. They came to give me a court summons, treated me like I was a criminal, not a shop owner. Later I got a notice from the State that I was being fined $60,000. My husband is a veteran who is disabled and we don't have any employees. This fine will kill us. It's the end. I don't know what to do."
This was a violation of Rowe's civil rights and Constitutional rights and another unjust action against businesses trying to survive, both as a result of policies decreed by Gov. Lujan Grisham. Rowe believes her treatment is disgraceful and says other businesses who depend on local consumers will soon be obsolete.
The governor continues to show favoritism for big box stores, taking millions of New Mexico dollars out of state, while exhibiting abject disdain for the little guy, local businesses who keep our our local economies humming.
The governor refuses to acknowledge that small businesses, like Papas Pawn & Gun, can provide and maintain social distancing and other health measures just like the national chains, that are packing shoppers in their aisles daily. This is blatant preferential treatment by the Lujan Grisham Administration.
