Abraham Lincoln's Springfield Home

While in Springfield, Illinois, I paid a visit to the home of Abraham Lincoln.

The house has about 60% of its original furnishings and while it looks smallish from the outside, it is larger-looking inside.

It is obviously the home of an upper-middle-class attorney, which what Lincoln was before he became president.

The brickwork in front of the home was by a client of Lincoln's who did not have the money to pay Lincoln's legal fees. As the client was a bricklayer, he offered to to the brickwork in front of the home in lieu of the fees. Lincoln accepted (nice barter!).

The streets and homes near the Lincoln home have been restored to their 1860 appearance.
