Masquers Club of Hollywood

Above, the Masquers Club meeting place from 1928 to 1985.

A thread at the Classic Horror Film Board forum on the Friar's Club made me wonder if the Hollywood Masquers Club is still in existence.

The club is still around and they have a website. Unfortunately, their headquarters on Sycamore is no longer around. It was demolished in 1985. The Masquers met there starting in 1928.

Back around 1983, I attended a meeting of the Way Out West Tent of the Laurel and Hardy fan organization, The Sons of the Desert at the Masquers. I don't remember too much of the meeting except Tom Hatten was there as was Adventures of Superman villain (during the first or 1951 season) Dan Seymour (left). I sat near to Seymour during the meeting.

Their website is quite interesting and it has a rolling list of past members, a virtual who's who of Hollywood. It also mentions a meeting attended by John Hamilton, who played Daily Planet editor Perry White in the Adventures of Superman.

If you are interested in Hollyood history, do yourself a favor and take a look at the Masquers website.
