Some sad news.
From the Superman Super Site:
The Woolstock, Iowa house that was the birthplace of "Adventures of Superman" star George Reeves has fallen to bulldozers.
An article posted by RadioIowa.com states that a demolition crew tore down the century old home where Reeves was born in 1914 late last week. Reeves and his family moved to California soon after he was born.
It was hoped that Reeves's birthplace could be restored and festivals honoring him were held to raise awareness and funds in 2006 and 2007. Unfortunately, small-town egos and politics got in the way and the home was allowed to further deteriorate.
The article adds:
Director of the George Reeves Memorial, Veronica Guyader stated in January, 2011 that "monies that had been raised for the home's restoration are now being used for the memorial marker that will be placed at the site. Those who have donated have been notified."
