The May L.A. To Tokyo Airfare Check

We're in a new month and it's time to take a look at the current airfares for flights originating from Los Angeles to Tokyo.

According to yesterday's Los Angeles Times Travel section, they found airfares at $793 (on the low end) and $971 (on the high end). These are before any taxes and fees are added in.

I checked with my favorite source for airline tickets, GatewayLAX, for May 16 departures and return on May 24 and this is what they came up with:

As indicated, the above fare is before taxes and fees are added in. The above flights are for Los Angeles International Airport and Narita International Airport. However, they came up with an even lower price for flights to and from Los Angeles International Airport and Haneda Airport (which is inside Tokyo itself):

Again, the price shown is before taxes and fees are added.

Unless there's a big change in airfares, the next report will be in June.
