Anyone who is a real aficionado of rock 'n roll over the past 60 years would be very familiar with the work of music reporter Jerry Hopkins.
Unfortunately, it has been reported by Celebrity Access that Hopkins has passed away at age 82.
They wrote:
(CelebrityAccess) Jerry Hopkins, 82, longtime music journalist, has reportedly died.
Hopkins has published 36 books including the first biographies for Elvis Presley and Jim Morrison. He served for more than 20 years as a contributing editor of Rolling Stone.
Hopkins freelanced at Village Voice in the early 60s, then as a a reporter at the Times-Picayune in New Orleans. He joined Mike Wallace as a writer-producer in New York in 61.
I have two of Hopkins's books, "No One Here Gets Out Alive", on The Doors vocalist Jim Morrison and "Aloha Elvis", on Elvis Presley's connection with Hawaii. I bought the latter book at the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center two years ago.
