National Code Talkers Day Now An Arizona State Holiday

There are two statues in the immediate vicinity (that I am aware of) that honors the Navajo Code Talkers of World War II. 

One is located at Window Rock & Veterans Memorial Tribal Park in Window Rock, Arizona and the other is located in front the Gallup Cultural Center (where the Gallup train station is located).

Last month, Gov. Doug Ducey of Arizona signed legislation making the National Code Talkers Day an Arizona state holiday.

ABC15 reported:

Governor Doug Ducey has signed legislation making National Code Talkers Day a state holiday.

It will be every year in mid-August, celebrated on August 14. However, according to Senate Bill 1802, if Navajo Code Talkers Day falls on any day other than a Sunday, it will be observed the Sunday following August 14.

National Code Talkers Day was established in 1982 by President Ronald Reagan.

"Second Amendment Sanctuary Counties" Are Being Declared In Arizona

The Democrats and the RINO Republican governor of Arizona are introducing gun control legislation. Gov. Doug Ducey is determined to have a “red flag law” passed this session.

Like the sheriffs of New Mexico last year, the sheriffs are mobilizing in opposition to gun control laws, including a "red flag" bill.

Some counties in Arizona have already declared themselves a "Second Amendment Sanctuary County, just like in New Mexico last year.

According to the Arizona Daily Independent News Network:

PHOENIX – Across the state of Arizona, 2nd Amendment supporters are lining up against efforts to restrict gun ownership and institute “red flag laws.” 

On Monday, Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb came out strong against Democrats in the Arizona Senate who are pushing legislation, SB1625, which would require “assault weapons” throughout the state to be registered or surrendered. The bill also allows owners to render the firearm inoperable instead of surrender. 

Last week, Apache County joined Yavapai, Mohave and La Paz counties in declaring itself a “Second Amendment Sanctuary County.” According to the White Mountain Independent, the declaration is designed to “prevent the implementation of any gun control measures that make it through Congress or the state legislatures.”

Arizona gun owners need to back their sheriffs and oppose these bills.

Nike's Shameful Retreat

During my younger days, Nike sports shoes were me favorite go-to shoes for casual wear.

It seems that the company is now being led by the nose by NFL failure Colin Kaepernick when he claimed is "offensive" by the Betsy Ross American flag on special-edition Independence Day sports shoes that were already made and shipped to stores.

According to the Wall Street Journal:

Nike Inc. NKE -0.53% is yanking a U.S.A.-themed sneaker featuring an early American flag after NFL star-turned-activist Colin Kaepernick told the company it shouldn’t sell a shoe with a symbol that he and others consider offensive, according to people familiar with the matter. 

The sneaker giant created the Air Max 1 USA in celebration of the July Fourth holiday, and it was slated to go on sale this week. The heel of the shoe featured a U.S. flag with 13 white stars in a circle, a design created during the American Revolution and commonly referred to as the Betsy Ross flag. 

It was an act of politically correct cowardliness of Nike to pull the shoes. I would never buy from Nike again after this.

At least one Republican governor is not taking this lying down.

Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey on Tuesday slammed Nike for canceling the release of a shoe featuring an early design of the American flag, saying it had "bowed to the current onslaught of political correctness and historical revisionism." 

Calling Nike's decision a "shameful retreat" on Twitter, the Republican leader vowed to withdraw financial incentives recently promised to the company in exchange for opening a manufacturing plant in Goodyear with some 500 full-time jobs.
