For the past few weeks, all I've been hearing is "Black Friday".

Now Amazon.com gotten into the act when they posted an ad on Facebook.

The interesting thing about it is that I haven't used this particular notebook computer for several days and just logged on with it, so I can't say it was cookie-generated.

For the past several months, my blog postings have brought positive news for foreign visitors to Japan when the subject is Japan's consumption tax.

This time, the news isn't so good, at least as far as residents of Japan are concerned. I received this notice from Amazon's Kindle Direct Publishing division, who is handling the ebook edition of The Monster Movie Fan's Guide To Japan:

Starting October 1, 2015 an 8% consumption tax will be applied to all ebooks sold to customers living in Japan. No action is required of you, but we are notifying you because you currently have one or more titles available through KDP that may be affected by this change.

Did you know that you can get a free Kindle app for your smartphone, tablet or computer? Well, you can!

Amazon.com has this posted on the page for the ebook edition of The Monster Movie Fan's Guide To Japan:

I found out a few years ago that some devices will not properly display Kindle-formatted ebooks. Before purchasing a Kindle-formatted ebook, people need to find out if their browser, software, app or programs are compatible with the various ebooks so that they render correctly. One digital size does not fit all.

One fellow complained that the ebook was "unreadable" in his device (whatever that was). I checked with other people that obtained the ebook and they all said it looked fine to them. So it obviously wasn't compatible with the device he was using.

Since then, I have cautioned people to check their browser, software, app or other programs to make sure that the Kindle program is compatible before purchasing. I have received no complaints since.
