Filled The RV Gas Tank

A little while ago, I got done doing some grocery shopping, depositing the state rebate check and filling up The Beast in Gallup.

The Beast needed 40 gallons to be filled up. The total cost was $188.03. After groceries and gasoline, I have $61.97 left over from the check. Gas was priced at $4.649 at Maverick.

So now I have enough gasoline in The Beast for when my ex-roommate Jessica arrives and we go to Durango and Navajo Lake next month.

Gasoline: A Small Reduction

Now that Memorial Day weekend is over, I was curious about the local Flying J prices of gasoline.

For days, unleaded regular had been around $4.469 (give or take), but now it had dipped down a little bit.

Here's the current prices:

Even with the small reduction, it is still higher than in nearby Gallup. The prices for unleaded regular in Gallup usually averages about ten cents less than at the Flying J. Most of the locals fill up in Gallup rather than at the Flying J lately.

I last filled up at the new Maverick travel center in Gallup at $4.319/gallon last week and that's with my two cents per gallon discount card (every little bit helps). 

If gas prices in New Mexico go below $4.00/gallon, then I'd be impressed. Still, at least I'm not in California.

High Gas Prices

When I was returning from Gallup this morning, I noticed that the new Maverick travel center advertised unleaded regular gasoline for $2.94.gallon. Since I had over a half a tank of gasoline, I didn't stop.

Well, when I got to the vicinity of my turn-off, I noticed the Flying J's price for the same grade of gasoline was at $3.15/gallon.

It looks like I should have stopped at Maverick anyway.

James Garner Reportedly Dies At 86

Actor James Garner, famous for his roles as Bret Maverick in the 1950s Maverick series and as Jim Rockford in The Rockford Files of the 1970s has reportedly died. He was 86.

TMZ posted:

Legendary actor James Garner -- star of "The Rockford Files" and "The Notebook" -- has died ... TMZ has learned. 

Law enforcement sources tell us an ambulance was dispatched to the actor's home in Los Angeles around 8PM Saturday evening ... and he was dead when they arrived on scene.

There's been no other confirmation of Garner's reported passing as yet.

Garner also starred with Clint Eastwood, Tommy Lee Jones and Donald Sutherland in Space Cowboys (2000).
