| Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham. |
The irony in this will likely escape a lot of people. But not me.
The Albuquerque Journal reported:
SANTA FE – Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham is finally tying the knot with longtime fiancรฉ Manuel Cordova.
The governor and Cordova will get married May 21 in Washington, D.C., with Vice President Kamala Harris set to officiate the ceremony, a spokesman for the governor said Tuesday.
The couple will then hold a celebration for family and friends in New Mexico in late May.
The irony is that Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham has been under fire for having settled a groping lawsuit by a former male campaign worker with campaign money. It has been reported the she paid around $150,000 to settle. You know the old saying, "Where there's smoke, there's fire." Now, it is reported that Kamala Harris is going to "officiate" Lujan Grisham's May wedding at the vice-presidential residence.
Nothing like having the groper's wedding officiated by one who has "slept her way to the top." Harris has been referred to as "Heels up Harris" by actor James Woods due to her history. I didn't know vice presidents can officiate weddings like a minister, priest or a ship's captain.
Ah, well. Birds of a feather flock together, eh?

It was kind of a weird feeling yesterday being at the Las Vegas wedding chapel where I got married back in 1987 (that marriage didn't work out too well). Mitch married Holly yesterday in it. He married his first wife there in 1976. Now he married his third wife, Holly, there.

The Little Church of the West was located on the Southern End of Las Vegas Blvd. this time. Originally, it was located in front of the Hacienda Hotel (now long gone) and then moved to the front of the Frontier Hotel (now also long gone).
It still looked the same as I remembered it.
The chapel doesn't allow any video or photographs inside during the ceremony. I did take a few before the ceremony started and they accompany this blog post.
Mitch's son Michael served as Best Man.
Following the wedding, we migrated to Famous Dave's BBQ Restaurant on Blue Diamond Road for dinner.

Today was a long day of traveling back home to New Mexico from Las Vegas for Mitch Geriminsky's wedding.
It started with a 7:00 morning flight from Las Vegas to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport to catch my flight to Albuquerque.
I was on pins and needles the whole time as it appeared that the Vegas plane wouldn't make it on time in DFW for the Albuquerque flight.
Fortunately, the Albuquerque flight was delayed, so I made it to the gate on time.

I arrived in Albuquque around 2:30 and then drove The Beast to Jamestown. It was windy out, but there was no snow for most of the way until I reached the Prewitt, New Mexico area. Then it started snowing in earnest at Continental Divide. I consider myself lucky. I was expecting snowy conditions most of the way from Albuquerque.
At home, there was about 2 inches of fresh snow on the the ground. It started snowing when I was unloading The Beast and hooking up the power cable to keep the holding tanks from freezing.
It was a good trip to Las Vegas. But it would have been better if American Airlines didn't cut things close for connecting flights.
I'll try to put The Beast into the GOCO Beast Barn tomorrow, weather permitting.
It looks like it'll be rainy and/or snowy in Jamestown, New Mexico starting tonight through Tuesday.
I am headed to Las Vegas for Mitch Geriminsky's wedding. It'll be at the Little Church of the West on the Las Vegas Strip. I haven't been there since my wedding in 1986. I was first there in 1976 when Mitch was married to his first wife.
The church will live stream the ceremony at 2:30 tomorrow.
Things may get interesting Sunday when my plane comes in from Las Vegas to the Albuquerque Sunport and then the drive back. Thankfully, I have new tires on The Beast, which will help.

This week is going to be interesting. And I am not talking about the inauguration.
I will be heading to Las Vegas this weekend to attend Mitch Geriminsky's wedding and there may be snow showers for most of the week and weekend in New Mexico.
Hopefully, the weather won't affect my flights to and from Albuquerque. If, by chance the flights are canceled, at least the wedding will be live streamed.
In Las Vegas, it won't exactly be "wedding weather", although according to an old Landrover commercial, it is supposedly good luck to have rain on one's wedding day. We'll se.
The Las Vegas forecast:
I have to go into Gallup to deposit my check from the class-action lawsuit of the Corn Seed Settlement Program from my farm ownership days.
According to the National Weather Service, the rest of the week and weekend is shaping up in New Mexico as follows:
Now that the drama over the November election is over, although not in the way I would have preferred, we can now get on with our lives, even with the specter of coronavirus hanging over our heads.
As for me, I will be taking a little mini-vacation this month to Fort Worth-Dallas to see the new John Wayne exhibit, John Wayne: American Experience, at the Fort Worth Stockyards and other attractions in and around those cities in Texas.
Then, later this month, Mitch Geriminsky and his girlfriend Holly will be tying the knot in Las Vegas and I will be going there. (He dropped that bombshell last night.) I managed to get a good package deal for my flights and hotel through Travelocity. It has been ages since I last booked anything through them and I was surprised that I am still in their system.
As President Nixon used to say, "Onward and upward!"
C'est la vie.

Gov. David Ige has extended the state’s 14-day travel quarantine through June 30, though he added that more businesses, such as gyms, theaters and churches, could begin reopening next month.
Ige signed his 8th supplemental emergency proclamation Monday, extending the quarantine for both out-of-state and interisland arrivals. At a news conference, he outlined a reopening and recovery plan for the state, which he said is now entering the “act with care” phase.
Activities that may resume under the new phase include indoor gatherings, such as places of worship and indoor exercise facilities, along with museums and theaters. Businesses, however, must open with physical distancing and safe practices in place.
Restaurants, which have been allowed to offer takeout until now, may also open for dine-in options, though larger venues and bars and clubs cannot reopen yet, according to the state’s plan.

Grand Teton National Park announced last week that it will be charging more in 2020 for special-use permits on things such as weddings and commercial filming.
The park said after a review of the special-use permit program and comparing fees collected with operational costs associated with that use, park officials deemed an increase was needed. Operational costs include staff time, maintenance, patrol, monitoring and cleaning associated with a particular special use.

JACKSON, Wyo. — Grand Teton National Park in northwest Wyoming will increase fees for various permits, including backcountry camping, weddings and motor boats.
Park spokesman Andrew White said the fee adjustment is part of the park's annual review of programs.
"It's not a response to any sort of budget issue," White said. "We're just making sure we're recovering the cost associated with these programs."

Back to reality after a wonderful long weekend in Cincinnati. Really nice wedding. The bride was beautiful, the groom handsome. After the rehearsal, while the rest of the wedding party went directly to the restaurant for the rehearsal dinner Julie’s father, Brian, and I drove to the Templeton house, changed into our kilts and then went on to the restaurant. Everyone was surprised. Both fathers looked great in our kilts. I gave a very nice toast – without screwing up. Dinner went well.
It was cold outside, temperature hovered right around freezing all four days. Snow flurries every day. And I might add, that 50 feet or so I had to walk from the car into the restaurant – in my kilt – was the longest, coldest 50 feet I’ve ever had to walk. I gained a lot respect for those kilt-wearing Scotsmen of old.Well, yes. One would have to respect Scotsmen of old as they wore nothing under their kilts (I guess you can say they "went commando"). Did the two dads also go "commando"?
Following day at the wedding, the 150 guests were piped into the reception by a bagpiper. Rather than one humongous stacked wedding cake with Thomas Dewey on top, they had 5 medium-large sized cakes for the 140-150 people. Each one different. One was “Julie’s cake” with flowers similar to those on her wedding dress. Another was “Andrew’s cake” with the Kerr tartan printed around the edge. Yeah, a perfect copy of the Kerr tartan printed in red and green (with edible ink on fondant). Absolutely amazing.
