Rep. Anna Paulina Luna Spotlighted At The Federalist

Yesterday's Saturday Sultress at The Federalist blog by longtime friend and fellow Clamper Gary Julian spotlights Rep. Anna Paulina Luna of Florida. 

According to Wikipedia:

Anna Paulina Luna (née Mayerhofer; born May 6, 1989) is an American politician and Air Force veteran serving as the U.S. representative for Florida's 13th congressional district since 2023. A member of the Republican Party, she is the first Mexican-American woman elected to Congress from Florida.

Luna served as airfield management specialist in the Air National Guard from age 19, serving from 2009 to 2014. For her service, she was awarded the Air Force Achievement Medal.

With her Federalist spotlight, I can easily see why she was elected to Congress. It just fortifies the truth, "Hotter Women Are Republicans!" Wow!

Abe Hoffman, R.I.P.

E Clampus Vitus has lost a great member.

XNGH* Abe Hoffman of Platrix Chapter No. 2 has passed away or, as the Order states, "Gone To The Golden Hills". This was announced by Glenn Thornhill. 

Abe was 87.

He wrote: 

It is with great sadness that I must report that Platrix XNGH Abe Hoffman has gone to the Golden Hills. Slippery Gulch shall miss his hail…

He was Humbug of Platrix back when we erected the Godzilla, King of the Monsters! plaque at Frank Del Olmo Elementary School (originally known as Belmont Elementary School) in Los Angeles. He was a retired high school teacher. He authored several books on western U.S. history.

I first met Abe back in 1984 just after joining ECV. We (Abe, Glenn Thornhill and I) always camped together at Platrix clamp-outs along with clamp-outs held by other chapters. He had a great sense of humor and always kept us laughing. 

My late mom found Abe entertaining when we all sat together at the Glenn Thornhill's wedding reception. 

At one of the last Platrix clamp-outs I attended before moving to New Mexico (2017, to be exact), Abe was struggling a little with his tent. I decided to invite him to stay in my RV with Glenn and I. He was very grateful for this gesture.

XNGH Gary Julian posted: 

Oh no. Abe and I camped together for so many years. I loved talking with him about the books he wrote on early California and the water wars. I have lost count of all the dinners we had together.

I will always have fond memories of Abe. He will be missed. My condolences to Abe's family and friends.

I was informed that Abe passed away from a sudden onset of leukemia. Accordingly, I will be donating to the John Wayne Cancer Foundation in his memory.

The Federalist Blog: Marilyn Monroe

Gary at The Federalist blog posted his usual Saturday Sultress a couple of hours ago.

Today's Saturday Sultress is Norma Jean Baker, better known as Marilyn Monroe. Seeing that post, it reminded me of the Hollywood Dearly Departed tour my daughter and I took in 2015.

One of the stops on the tour was the Westwood Cemetery. Many celebrities are buried there besides Monroe, including Jack Lemmon, Walter, Matthau, Rodney Dangerfield, Carl Wilson, Dean Martin, Merv Griffin, Farrah Fawcett, Carroll O'Connor, Peter Falk, Louis Jourdan, Burt Lancaster, Armand Hammer, Dorothy Stratten and others.

• Insane Leftists destroy more high paying American energy industry jobs while importing oil from other nations.

In a unanimous vote, Los Angeles County backed a ban on oil and gas drilling, which means some 1,600 active and inactive wells would be shut down, the AP reported, adding the timeline for the shut-down has yet to be determined.

 “The goal is to provide direction to county departments to begin addressing the variety of issues, environmental and climate impacts created by these active and inactive oil and gas wells,” said LA County Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell. 

She represents the district that houses most of the Inglewood oilfield—one of the largest urban oilfields in the country.

The California Independent Petroleum Association was against the vote, saying it would lead to hundreds of job losses, raise prices at the pump, and increase California’s dependency on foreign oil.

The state imports about 70 percent of the oil it needs. 

It is also the largest jet fuel and gasoline consumer in the States. California accounted for 17 percent of U.S. jet fuel consumption and 11 percent of motor gasoline consumption in 2019, the last “normal” year of fuel demand, according to EIA data.

Facebook Jail: The Latest

Friend Gary Julian (The Federalist and The People's Republic blogs) posted the following on Facebook this morning:

It is interesting that Facebook (and, I presume, other social media sites) will censor, restrict and ban people on flimsy excuses or none at all. I still don't know what prompted my being put in "Facebook Jail". Even though I was told that they didn't restrict my account. Either they don't know what they're doing or are liars.

Gary's blog, The Federalist, had been permanently banned by Facebook a few months ago.

Blast From The Past

Today, I received in the mailbox the above photograph. As Glenn Thornhill is clearing out stuff in preparation of moving, he came across the photo (how he ended up with it is unknown to him). Pictured are (from left) Arleigh Kerr, yours truly and Gary Julian. All of us were in our 20s when the photo was taken.

It looks like a print from Assemblyman Paul Bannai's administrative assistant Ken Huthmaker. He was an ex-press photographer who shot in black & white. Obviously, it was taken at a convention.

At first, my thought was that it was taken at a Young Republicans or California College Republicans convention. But if it was a Huthmaker photo, it is more likely from a California State Central Committee Convention in San Diego at the Town & Country Hotel (September 1975) or the convention in April 1976 in Fresno.

In either case, it was during the California Primary campaign as I am wearing a "RSD" button (for Robert Spencer Douglass, who was running for the 51st Assembly). We had a lot of conventioneers wearing them by saying they meant "Reagan Should Declare" against President Gerald Ford.

I don't recall ever seeing this photo before.

The Federalist Blog Hit By Facebook Ban

The Federalist blog (on Blogspot) by Gary Julian, whom I've known since my college days (yes, back when dinosaurs roamed the Earth), has been hit by a Facebook ban.

Allegedly, some snowflake(s) reported the blog to Facebook for "abusive" content. I guess in this day and age, telling the truth about politics and current events is now considered "abusive" by some people.

After hearing about the ban, for the heck of it, I tried the Facebook button on an article about Sen. Elizabeth Warren to share it on my Facebook page.

Wendy Walden Julian, 1956 - 2019

Wendy Walden Julian passed away unexpectedly today. She was the widder of XNGH Gary Julian and was an RN and realtor. She was part of "the gang" since the 1970s.

My condolences to the Julian family and friends.

A few days after this post, I learned that Assemblyman Bannai passed away at age 99 on September 14.

Google Shadow-Banning Far & Wide

Continuing with shadow-banning by Google...

The Federalist has picked up my blog post of yesterday on shadow-banning. It is interesting that even my innocuous article on Cuba tourism got the shadow-ban treatment from Google, but Bing and Yahoo! picked it up it was at the top of their search results.

So, without further ado, here's The Federalist posting of today.

Facebook and "The Hunt"

Yesterday, I posted (actually a re-post) about a Hollywood movie called, The Hunt, whose ads were pulled by ESPN on Facebook (and rightly so, I may add).

The movie is about liberal elites hunting red state "deplorables" for sport. (Funny how liberals/leftists claim Trump supporters are using inflammatory rhetoric, yet they are getting away with stuff like this.)

Afterwards, I received a notice from Facebook (like the one above) stating that the post violated their "community standards" and it was banned. I asked them to take a second look at the post. They did, and they are refusing to reverse their ban. They cite "nudity" in their objections. Nudity?! What nudity?

Apparently, Facebook has an issue with this post as others re-posted it and received the same notice.

One was Gary Julian's of The Federalist blog. Early this morning, he posted a blog about this.

• In district after district after district, well-off middle class California voters are rejecting the Republicans and sending Democrats to Congress. 
• The California Republican Party is sinking fast.  In time that will make GOP control of the House of Representatives almost impossible.

Thank open borders and a pathetic and ball-less California GOP that stands for and does next to nothings.

Statewide Races

The GOP could not even manage to run candidates for U.S. Senate or Lt. Governor.  The party lost all other statewide races by landslide numbers.

State Legislature

There are now 2/3s plus super majorities in both the State Senate and the State Assembly.

U.S. Congress

For Congressional seats the total collapse of the GOP can be seen.

Some 65% of California voters supported Leftists. Republicans are down to only 8 seats in the entire state.  In 7 districts the GOP did not even bother to run candidates.

GOP Weakness

The California GOP is so weak that in 3 districts it was Democrat vs Green Party with no Republican on the November ballot at all.

• The bought and paid for open borders Dems and GOP have no interest in immigration control. Only Trump speaks for America citizens.

(Daily Caller)  -  Mexican presidential candidate Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) called for mass immigration to the United States during a speech Tuesday declaring it a “human right” for all North Americans.

“And soon, very soon — after the victory of our movement — we will defend all the migrants in the American continent and all the migrants in the world,” Obrador said, adding that immigrants “must leave their towns and find a life in the United States.”

He then declared it as “a human right we will defend,” eluniversal.com reports.

While the election is not until July 1, Obrador is by far the frontrunner.

Obrador in April delivered speech criticizing Trump and promising that Mexico will not become a “piñata” for any foreign government, Global News reports.

The former mayor of Mexico City, Obrador holds progressive populist views. The 64-year-old ran unsuccessfully for president twice before, according to DW.

Fox’s Tucker Carlson noted Thursday that Obrador has previously proposed granting amnesty to Mexican drug cartels. “America is now Mexico’s social safety net, and that’s a very good deal for the Mexican ruling class,” Carlson added.

His blog specializes in politics, with a dash of entertainment and sultresses. He also seems to be doing something right was well in garnering a big readership.

30th Congressional District: Democrat vs. Democrat

Regular readers of this blog know that I refused to jump on the "bandwagon" with elected Republican officials in supporting either Rep. Brad Sherman or Rep. Howard Berman in their battle in the 30th Congressional District (the district of my residence).  Neither one of them were acceptable to those of us who stand by our conservative principles.  I supported Republican Mark Reed.



This is due to the new law that the top two vote-getters in the primary election are able to face each other in the general election.  It doesn't matter which party the top-two belong to.  In this case, the top two are Democrat Liberals.

The 30th Congressional District only has a 26% Republican registration, while the Democrats have 48%.  Not much of a chance for a Republican to give the Democrats a contest.

California is dominated by Democrats who have brought this state to near-bankruptcy.  The GOP is virtually powerless to stop them.   One may as well call this a one-party dictatorship as in the former Soviet Union or China.

I considered the possibility of supporting one of the Democrats (the lesser of two evils), but there is nothing in their records that I can sink my teeth into to offer support for.  Both are "no damn good."

If the Republican Party is to make any inroads in California, it needs to rebuild itself.  The California Republican Party (i.e., the Republican State Central Committee) is primarily comprised of ineffective political hacks and virtually no money.  It really hasn't been an effective party organization since the 1980s at best.   A thorough house-cleaning is in order.

The Federalist

An old college friend, Gary Julian, has started a new blog called The Federalist. In it, he discusses the current issues of the day and how they relate to the U.S. Constitution. His description is:

Gary and I go back nearly 40 years, first in the Young Republicans, then the California Republican Assembly and then as fellow brothers in the Ancient and Honorable Order of E Clampus Vitus.
