Mike Gatto: California's Crybaby Poster Boy

"I halted a fulfilling private sector career path to enter public service. I now have to explain to my wife and daughter that we won't be able to pay the bills because a politician chose to grandstand at our expense." - Assemblyman Mike Gatto, D-Burbank.

Boo-hoo!

Mike Gatto has now become the poster boy for the fiscal mess in Sacramento. He is whining over losing days of pay for not timely passing a balanced budget.

Well, it seems that he and the other Democrats in the California legislature had no problem in over-taxing California taxpayers, over-regulating businesses and driving other businesses out of the state, over-spending and being over-generous with extravagant benefits packages and pensions for state workers.

Yes, people are hurting financially, but that doesn't stop the Democrats from adding more taxes and fees. They refuse to cut spending. The Democratic Party has ruined this state. The once "Golden State" is no longer business-friendly.

Mike Gatto, you or your Democrat colleagues don't deserve any sympathy. Now that you are getting some payback, you cry like a big baby. The voters in your district (if they have any smarts) will remember this and send you back to the private sector.

It appears that your chickens are coming home to roost!

For once, there is a Democrat that deserves a big round of applause in docking the legislature's pay: Controller John Chiang! Too bad there aren't more like him.

I just heard that cry baby on ch2 news minutes ago. I cannot believe he said crying about making $95.3k!!! Most of us are happy to be making $50k. What kind of lifestyle does he live where he does not live comfortably making $90k!!! And how dare him make comparisons with the Soviet Union!

I'm a liberal Democrat, but even I know that his whining was so inappropriate considering how much state workers' salaries have been cut during the past 3 years, how many unpaid furlough days they have been forced to take, and the IOUs they had to accept in lieu of a paycheck because a budget has been long overdue. You may blame the Democrats, I blame both parties. Neither know how to focus on the people rather than themselves and special interests...

The GOP really had/has nothing to do with the financial mess Calfornia's in. Even under Arnold (a RINO if there ever was one) the Republicans had no say in the budget process.

As for state workers, their benefit packages exceed those in the private sector. On average, it takes 3 taxpayers to fund each worker's benefits. It's unsustainable.

I don't blame the workers, I blame the unions and the Democrats who won't say no to them. I worked for a state assemblyman in my "younger years," so I know of their dedication.

He makes $95.3k and whines about not paying bills? I know doctors who make that type of money but saves and buys at second-hand stores. If he can't pay the bills he claimed he has, where did all his money go? Where did he spend all his money?

To Mike Gatto: now you know how the average Californian feel, especially Californian teachers and professors. Grow up and learn how to save. I know you have three kids and you married former Miss Orange County. What kind of role model are you setting for your kids? That you shouldn't get fired if you don't do that is expected of you?

If Mr. Gatto can't manage his own budget, how can anyone expect him to manage the states?

People like Gatto make me sick. Yeah. He's a big time crybaby all right. This "cant' pay the bills" is the biggest load of BS I've heard in a while. What a loser. Real productive, good, hard working people are suffering and even struggling to survive, because they can't get a better job, or are out of a job!

Gatto needs a reality check and needs to be booted. Go back to the private sector, man. You're no public servant! Another load of BS.

Living beyond your means is what gets people in trouble--and what has gotten our poor state in this whole fiasco.

I applaud Chiang! Bravo!! It's about time someone put a stop to those highway robbers, splurging our hard earned money for who knows what!!!

Great post, Armand! You nailed it.
