Right now, it's June 8 in Tokyo, Japan.
It is also director Shusuke Kaneko's 56th birthday.
Kaneko, as Japanese science-fiction fans know, was the director of the Gamera trilogy of the 1990s: Gamera, Guardian of the Universe; Gamera 2; and Gamera 3. He also directed Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack (known in fan circles as GMK) in 2001 (by the way, the 10th anniversary of the film's release is coming up at the end of the year).
I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Kaneko in Chicago in 2003 when he made a surprise visit to G-FEST.
Happy Birthday, Kaneko-san!
