The Japanese baseball player nicknamed "Godzilla" has been named his city's tourism ambassador.
According to Kyodo News:
The city of Nomi in Ishikawa Prefecture on Tuesday bestowed a citizen's honor award on former major leaguer and hometown hero Hideki Matsui and appointed him the city's tourism ambassador.
Matsui, 39, a recipient of the People's Honor Award given by the Japanese government, played for the New York Yankees and several other major league teams following his move from the Japanese professional baseball team Yomiuri Giants.Now, if Japan would name the real Godzilla as the country's tourism ambassador, that would be something.
