We're now into the new year and this will be the first airfare check for economy airfares for flights between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Narita International Airport (NRT).
Yesterday's Los Angeles Times Travel Section listed their high and low fares from LAX to NRT as $1,351 to $1,891 of these airlines: ANA, American, Delta, JAL, Korean, Malaysian, Singapore and United. These high and low fares do not include taxes and fees.
As usual, I went to my favorite source for airline tickets, GatewayLAX, and the lowest airfare (depart January 13 and return January 20) they came up with was this:
From my experience a month ago in purchasing my Japan airline tickets, the fees and taxes will boost the price about another $600 (thank Uncle Sam and the airlines for this). So, figure the final price will be in the $800 neighborhood. Still, that's a lot better than the lowest airfare the Los Angeles Times came up with.
It is interesting that I requested a non-stop search, but they still came up with a stopover in Honolulu, Hawaii.
The next airfare price check will be in February.
Note: If one wants to go to Osaka instead of Tokyo, Air China has a special round-trip fare of $834, which includes all taxes and fees. It is subject to availability and travel can be any day of the week between February 20 and May 20. For information: (800) 882-8122 or www.airchina.us.
