Almost since the advent of recorded music, parody songs have been a part of American culture. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. For a good parody song to work, it has to be humorous and easily identifiable with the original song. Weird Al Yankovic has made a career with parody songs. It helps that the singer sounds reasonably good as well.
I stumbled upon such a song last night. It is a parody of the Gordon Lightfoot classic, "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald". Its title: "The Wreck called Hillary Clinton". It pokes fun at the Clintons. It has been around for a year, but I only found it last night.
According to its description on YouTube:
A parody about the treachery of the Clintons throughout the years and their ultimate political demise at the hands of Donald Trump. Sung to the tune of "The Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald".According to the video, it is by "Gordon Athletesfoot".
Here's the video:
For those of you who are not familiar with Gordon Lightfoot's version (or are a fan of it), here's a 1979 live version by Lightfoot:
Enjoy!
