Last year, I volunteered to help with the John Wayne Cancer Foundation "Grit Series" Half Marathon and 5K near Ridgway, Colorado. I attended the marathon in 2022, but only as an observer.'
This year's run will be held September 21. I will be there helping out again. I just signed up.

The True Grit #JohnWayneGritSeries (September 21) meanders through the forest at the base of the San Juan Mountains where John Wayne’s True Grit was filmed. The courses run on single track trails and fire roads on private Colorado ranches only accessible by participating in this event. The scenery includes views of the San Juan Mountains, the True Grit Barn, Wildflower Valley and other wildlife! This run is truly a unique experience.
Everyone involved, including the Wayne Family, volunteers and participants have been nice people.
