Classic Rock Music Monday

The stuff that now passes as "music", particularly rock 'n roll, leaves me cold. So, to start off the week, here's a video of a classic rock artist. 

To start off the week we have "Panic In Detroit", a 1973 single by David Bowie. It is the first song I remember hearing from him. It was out during the special election campaign of Paul Bannai for the California State Assembly (he won) in the Gardena-Hawthorne area of Los Angeles County.

Hangin' With A Cousin

My cousin Ralph came over yesterday and we spent the day catching up, going to lunch and raiding CD Trader (I picked up a DVD of Dr. No and an Elvis Presley CD and he picked up a David Bowie 45 r.p.m. record).

While he was over, I showed him the DVD video of the Blue Hawaiian Helicopters tour we took last May. He was fascinated by the views of the volcano vents we flew over.

We are talking about going to Arizona early next year. I suggested timing it for when the Quartzsite Sports, Vacation & RV Show takes place (January 21 - 27, 2017). He mentioned renting an SUV, but I told him that wasn't necessary since we can go in The Beast. He forgot about that. He's going to need to get himself a sleeping bag. We're going to discuss this further.

We had a good visit!

David Bowie Dies At 69

Sad news greeted me this morning.

Singer, actor and producer David Bowie died at age 69 of cancer.

According to CNN.com:

David Bowie died on January 10 after a battle with cancer, his representative confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter. He was 69. 

"David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family's privacy during their time of grief," read a statement posted on the artist's official social media accounts.

The news reports I've read over Bowie's passing lauded albums "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust", "Station To Station" and others, but the album of Bowie's I liked the most (and have) is "Aladdin Sane" that came out in 1973.
