Trump On Colin Powell

Colin Powell has always struck me as a useless POS over the years.

The clincher was when he supported Barack Obama over John McCain (even though McCain was never a favorite of mine, but Obama is a socialist).

This week, Powell announced that he's supporting Biden for president.

Well, whoop-de-do!

President Trump's reaction today says it all:

Trump Campaign Website Hacked By Iraqi Hacker

A website associated with President Trump by Iraqi hackers.

According to The Hacker News:
During the 2016 presidential election campaign, we reported about how insecure was the mail servers operated by the Trump organization that anyone with little knowledge of computers can expose almost everything about Trump and his campaign.
Now, some unknown hackers calling themselves "Pro_Mast3r" managed to deface an official website associated with President Donald Trump's presidential campaign fundraising on Sunday.

The hacker, claiming to be from Iraq, reportedly defaced the server, secure2.donaldjtrump.com, which is behind CloudFlare's content management system and security platform.

Brian Williams Going "On Leave"

There's an old saying:
Confession may be good for the soul, but it's very bad for my reputation.
Such is the case of embattled NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams, who confessed that he made up the story that the helicopter he was flying in Iraq was under fire.

Williams has announced that he is taking a leave of absence from his duties as news anchor for an unspecified number of days.

According to the Hollywood Reporter:
Brian Williams is stepping away from NBC Nightly News for a number of days.
The anchor sent a note to the show's staff, announcing that Lester Holt is replacing him for an unspecified amount of time. The news comes as Williams is embroiled in a scandal surrounding his story about being a passenger in a helicopter that took fire in Iraq in 2003.
Frankly, I can't see how he can survive this scandal without having to resign or be fired from his positions as news anchor and managing editor of the NBC Nightly News. His credibility is in tatters.

Along with the Iraq story, people are questioning his claim that he saw a body floating face down in New Orleans when Hurricane Katrina hit. The area where Williams was at the time was not flooded, according to news sources. That and other claims Williams has made are being investigated.

Jokes about Williams are being widely circulated on the Internet such as the one pictured at top.

Caroline Kennedy Japan Ambassadorship Nomination: "Anata ga shitte iru."

Above, the National Diet Building, Japan's Capitol building.  Photo by Armand Vaquer.

President Barack Obama has not very well distinguished himself in the field of foreign policy (well, he hasn't distinguished himself in domestic policy either). He has made a mess out of Libya (Benghazi is a prime case in point), exited Iraq too quickly and leaving it in a mess and plans on doing the same thing in Afghanistan. Screw-ups in Egypt and Syria. The list goes on and on.

His nomination of Caroline Kennedy is another potential Obama screw up. In The Japan News, David Rothkopf, CEO and editor-at-large of Foreign Policy, writes:

Early in 2008, back in the days when Barack Obama was hardly a shoo-in to be the Democratic nominee for president, Kennedy penned a piece for The New York Times called “A President Like My Father.” In it, she described Obama as a man who could inspire a new generation of Americans as her father, President John F. Kennedy, had inspired a previous generation. It provided Obama with a big boost and, along with the support he received from Sen. Edward Kennedy, gave the candidate the imprimatur of the political-celebrity wing of the Democratic establishment--a leg up in his tight race against then-Sen. Hillary Clinton.
Other than writing this op-ed, Kennedy has not the slightest hint of a qualification to be ambassador to Japan. Trained as a lawyer, she has led a worthy life of dedication to family charities, other nonprofit organizations and writing. But she has no particular experience with Japan, no experience with diplomacy or foreign affairs, and no government experience. Hers is a nomination that reflects more on the president’s views toward the diplomatic service and by extension the entire Department of State than it does on anything she has ever done or shown interest in doing. It also by extension illustrates the ever-growing centrality of the White House and more importantly the president himself to the conduct of U.S. international relations.
Japan is too important to have the United States represented by such a novice. As I mentioned in an earlier blog post on the Kennedy nomination, I know of several G-fans who are more qualified than Kennedy is and with much more Japan experience.

When she wanted to be considered for an appointment to Hillary Clinton's U.S. Senate seat from New York, Kennedy stumbled with her inarticulate speaking that was peppered with "you knows" throughout.

Well, if she does get confirmed as U.S. Ambassador to Japan, she can start learning to say "you know" in Japanese. It is, "Anata ga shitte iru."*

Now We're In War #4

So now we're in war #4. It has been reported that U.S. forces are bombing targets in Yemen.

Whose side are we on? Who are the "good guys"? Who are the "bad guys"?

So now we're at war in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya and now Yemen. Where's the outcry from the Left?

Statement From House Speaker John Boehner

From Houuse Speaker John Boehner's website:

WASHINGTON, DC (Mar 20)
House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) issued the following statement on the situation in Libya:

“The United States has a moral obligation to stand with those who seek freedom from oppression and self-government for their people. It’s unacceptable and outrageous for Qadhafi to attack his own people, and the violence must stop.

“The President is the commander-in-chief, but the Administration has a responsibility to define for the American people, the Congress, and our troops what the mission in Libya is, better explain what America’s role is in achieving that mission, and make clear how it will be accomplished. Before any further military commitments are made, the Administration must do a better job of communicating to the American people and to Congress about our mission in Libya and how it will be achieved.”

Authorization from the Congress would also be a big help, since we weren't attacked. President Bush obtained authorization from the Congress before we went into Afghanistan and Iraq.

Meanwhile, a group of hard-core liberal Democrat House members are also raising a stink over Obama's actions in Libya:

A hard-core group of liberal House Democrats is questioning the constitutionality of U.S. missile strikes against Libya, with one lawmaker raising the prospect of impeachment during a Democratic Caucus conference call on Saturday.

Remains of Capt. Michael Speicher Found

FoxNews.com is reporting that the remains of Capt. Michael Speicher have been found in Iraq.

Speicher was listed as "missing-captured" as reports came in that he might have been captured during the initial raids during the 1991 Gulf War.

Fox News reported:

Remains of the first American lost in the 1991 Persian Gulf War have been found in the Anbar province of Iraq after a nearly 20-year search, the U.S. Navy said Sunday.

The Armed Forces Institute of Pathology has positively identified the remains of Captain Michael "Scott" Speicher, whose disappearance has bedeviled investigators since his jet was shot down over the Iraq desert on the first night of the 1991 war.

The Navy said the discovery illustrates the military's commitment to bring its troops home.

"This is a testament to how the Navy never stops looking for one of its own. No matter how long it takes," Commander Cappy Surette, a spokesman for the U.S. Navy, told FOX News.

Dear Mr. Obama: 11.3 million hits!

An Iraq veteran posted his endorsement of John McCain on YouTube. If the election were up to the number of hits a YouTube, McCain would be the big winner. To date, the video has had over 11.3 million hits! It is called, "Dear Mr. Obama."
