It appears that we are in a cooling trend with the possibility of isolated thunderstorms in the Gallup/Jamestown vicinity. It did sprinkle a little bit yesterday afternoon. It lasted only a few minutes.
According to the National Weather Service, the next few days look like this:

It looks like we may be getting some precipitation this coming week, starting tomorrow and Monday with a dry storm. A dry storm is a thunderstorm that produces less than 0.1" of rain. This is according to the McKinley County of Emergency Management.
It won't be long when we'll be in monsoon season.

Before I went on the cruise to the Bahamas, some of us were talking about going out to the shooting area for some plinking after I got back.
This morning, I was checking through the list of blogs and found that the last time we did some plinking at the shooting area was back in April. It seemed much more recent than that. So I guess we are due for a shoot.
Well, the weather is not being cooperative as we're in for some thunderstorms at least until Sunday. If we do decide to do some shooting, hopefully the shooting area won't be in a muddy mess.

I spent most of the morning Gallup dealing with a computer issue with my main laptop. It needs a new hard drive. So now its getting one. I am using my back-up laptop now.
After getting home, I decided to mow as it appeared a thunderstorm was approaching (part of our usual monsoon season). Sure enough, I was right. It hit when I started watching the Republican National Convention.
It us amazing how quick brush grows when it get rain. I last mowed two weeks ago and already it needed another mow.

It looks like it will be warm in the O'Hare International Airport of Chicago vicinity during G-FEST.
The temperatures will be in the 80s with chances of thundershowers. I remember one year we had a big thunderstorm at G-FEST. It was so intense that it seemed as if King Ghidorah was just outside of the hotel. Maybe we'll have a nice light show outside during the usual "Godzilla Blood" parties.

Later this week, we may be getting some thunderstorms (20% chance) through the area. On top of that, temperatures will be in the upper 80s with one day reaching 90°. After a long winter, this is most welcome. But I'll have to hook up the swamp cooler.

It appears that monsoon season may be finally kicking in this week (but I'm not holding my breath).
The National Weather Service forecast for this week indicates thundershowers will hit the Jamestown, New Mexico area in earnest this week. However, they've been known to be wrong before. Hopefully, we will get the much-needed rain this week. It's been pretty dry lately and I had to water the trees a couple of evenings ago.

It is going to be hot this coming week. It is not going to wait until next week either.
Today's temperature will be 95°. It will be in the 90s next week, even with possible thunderstorms what will be moving in (after all, we are in monsoon season). We may get up to 98° on Monday.
I thought about going to Route 66 RV Resort in Albuquerque, but it will be in the 100s there. That is tantamount to going from the frying pan to the fire even though they have a swimming pool. Navajo Lake might be more inviting.

As I was equipping my motorhome after buying it, one of the things I bought was a surge protector. Since the southwest (where I live) has many thunderstorms during the summer monsoon season, I am glad I bought one. The surge protector protects the RV's electronics from lightning strikes. It looks like monsoon season will intensify this coming week.
The National Weather Service forecasts a stormy week of rain and thunderstorms. This will be interesting as I have to pick up my former roommate Jessica from the Albuquerque Sunport this coming week.
At least it will be cooler than it has been during the past few days.

Today is gonna be a hot one at about 91°. Plus, we have a chance (around 30%) of thundershowers.
I will be spending half of today in Gallup as I have to drive Larry Lucier to his physical therapist. Luckily, his bus has air conditioning.

Last evening, I fired up the fire pit outside for the first time in months.
Prior to monsoon season, we were in a fire restriction which forbade open fires. Now that we've been getting rain, we can have outdoor fires. We had a thunderstorm come through Jamestown yesterday afternoon.
It appears that we are having a break in monsoon rains until Wednesday night. But we will be seeing 92° temperatures.
