A Break In the Rain

Last evening, I fired up the fire pit outside for the first time in months.

Prior to monsoon season, we were in a fire restriction which forbade open fires. Now that we've been getting rain, we can have outdoor fires. We had a thunderstorm come through Jamestown yesterday afternoon. 

It appears that we are having a break in monsoon rains until Wednesday night. But we will be seeing 92° temperatures. 

The forecast for Jamestown, New Mexico by the National Weather Service is as follows:

Mostly sunny, with a high near 92. South wind 5 to 10 mph becoming west in the morning.

Mostly cloudy, with a low around 64. West wind 5 to 10 mph.

The time change to standard time has wreaked havoc with my sleep.

Before going to bed, I changed my clocks (set back an hour). I went to bed at 9:00 Daylight Savings Time and woke up an hour ago. 

So much for my "extra hour" of sleep.

Last evening, I decided to have a fire in the firepit. It was a pleasant evening with only a light breeze. So I sat out next to it. It was relaxing.

The weather this coming week will be dry with daytime temperatures in the 50s and 60s. It won't be long before we start getting snow here in Jamestown, New Mexico.

It is more evident that we're now in autumn. At least so far this year, unlike last year, we're not jumping directly into winter from summer.

This coming week will be another dry week with temperatures not reaching the 80s, only staying in the 70s.

Last Night's Fire

Last night was a pleasant night outside, so I decided to have a fire. This was only the second time this year I used my fire pit since it has been a dry monsoon season.

I was thinking about doing the same tonight, but it there are some gusty winds at times, so I'm not.

I have received a lot of praise for the last photo of my front porch area. One friend said it has a "home on the range" feel.
