Ouch! Dollar Performing Badly Against The Yen

Unless your next trip to Japan is an all-expenses-paid trip, the current exchange rate between the U.S. Dollar and the Japanese Yen is not encouraging the average American traveler to make a trip.

The XE - Universal Currency Conversion website shows today's foreign exchange rate as follows:

1.00 USD = 89.8050 JPY

United States Dollars > Japan Yen
1 USD = 89.8050 JPY > 1 JPY = 0.0111352 USD

This is bad and the best term to describe today's rate is "Ouch!"

My last trip to Japan was in April 2007 and the rate I received at Narita International Airport was 116 yen per U.S. dollar. In other words, I received 116 yen for every dollar I exchanged. See what I mean?
