The other night, while at work, I caught a little bit of a talk show on the radio mentioning the changes in the horoscope. It seems that the zodiac signs that we all know and love so well are "outdated."
According to the Washington Post:
Star signs were created some 2,000 years ago by tracking where the sun was in the sky each month. However, the moon's gravitational pull has slowly moved the Earth in its axis, creating about a one-month bump in the stars' alignment, reports the Minnesota Star Tribune. Now, during what we think as the month of Pisces, the sun is actually in the sign of Aries.
Under this, the old and new dates of the horoscope for actress Christine Nguyen's and my birthdate of February 4 is:
Old: Aquarius: Jan. 20-Feb. 18;
New: Capricorn: Jan. 20-Feb. 16
Your previous qualities: vision, intellect and humanity
Your new qualities: willingness to work hard and determination to succeed
The "new" signs and corresponding dates are:
Capricorn: Jan. 20-Feb. 16
Aquarius: Feb. 16-March 11
Pisces: March 11-April 18
Aries: April 18-May 13
Taurus: May 13-June 21
Gemini: June 21-July 20
Cancer: July 20-Aug. 10
Leo: Aug. 10-Sept. 16
Virgo: Sept. 16-Oct. 30
Libra: Oct. 30-Nov. 23
Scorpio: Nov. 23-Dec. 17
Sagittarius: Dec. 17-Jan. 20
However, the Post adds:
Confused by all the news about a change in your horoscope? Our own Melissa Bell has debunked the story (New Zodiac sign dates: Don't switch horoscopes yet) as a condition that does not apply to the tropical zodiac used most commonly by Westerners.
Still confused? Well, let's all go out for a drink and mull this one over.
