Superman Train Mystery Solved!

There was one "mystery" that Adventures of Superman fans have often wondered about: Where was the location of the locomotive in the opening titles of the 1951-53 seasons?

Finally, the mystery has been solved. Jim Nolt, founder of The Adventures Continue website posted this at Facebook:

This is for anyone interested in the b&w intro to the "Adventures of Superman." The train shown in that intro was taken from the movie "The Beginning Or The End" (MGM, 1947). But where was it filmed? Michael Tortorella of Burlington, Vermont, has the answer. Compare the intro with Michael's Google Earth view of 4703 E. Los Angeles Ave., Simi Valley, CA.

As you can see, it's a match!

Looks like another location to add to a possible George Reeves/Superman tour for this year!

Congratulations to Michael Tortorella for solving the mystery! And, thanks to Jim Nolt for posting it!

You should also add that the train pictured is the Southern Pacific's #4449 "Daylight Special" that ran from LA to SF, often called "the most beautiful train in the world."
