Superman Location Plaque Proposed

2014 marks the 100th anniversary of Adventures of Superman star George Reeves's birth.

Plans are now underway to celebrate and one of the proposed events is to place a plaque at the location of the stakeout of the Metropolis Police Department (headed by Inspector Henderson (Robert Shayne)) in the 1953 episode, "The Man Who Could Read Minds."

The location is at the intersection of Wilbur and Linnet in Tarzana, California.  The location shoot also featured Clark Kent (George Reeves), Perry White (John Hamilton), Lois Lane (Noel Neill) and Jimmy Olsen (Jack Larson).  They were seeking the capture of "The Phantom Burglar."  The photo above is of the location today with the area for the proposed plaque marked with an oval.

According to Superman historian Michael J. Hayde, the shoot occurred during the week of June 15, 1953.
