Six Mile Canyon Closing December 15

Above, after getting unstuck in a muddy culvert. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

Cibola National Forest's Six Mile Canyon area will be closed to vehicles on December 15 for the winter season until March 31.

I haven't driven in Six Mile Canyon much this year as the monsoon rains made the biggest culvert on Six Mile Canyon Road (next to Interstate 40) a deep muddy mess. I attempted it once and almost got stuck in it. Thankfully, the Jeep's four-wheel-drive got me out of it, but I had to do a lot of cleaning afterwards. I waited a few days for it to dry out before I made another attempt.

Since we're expected to get about three inches (or more) of snow from a winter storm that's coming in tomorrow, it is doubtful anyone (besides me) would even attempt it.

For all intents and purposes, Jeeping in Six Mile Canyon is done for the year for me.

Cruisin' Around

Above, a stop at the community bulletin board. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

Since we'll probably be getting rain or snow showers starting Thursday and I will be busy in Gallup for most of tomorrow, I figured that I would get the Jeep (and myself) some exercise today.

The weather was decent enough today, at around 61° with some clouds, for a drive. The wind wasn't too bad either.

I drove around our subdivision and vicinity.
