Food around the world changes with the times, and that includes Japanese food, deemed to be one of the healthiest foods one can find.
However, according to The Japan News (Yomiuri Shimbun), Japanese food was at its healthiest in 1975.
They wrote:
Japanese food — high in seafood content and low in calories and fat — is healthy and one of the reasons why Japanese people live such long lives. Although Japanese food changes with the times, it was found to be healthiest around 1975, which coincides with the era depicted in the nationally popular comic and TV anime series “Chibi Maruko-chan.”
The key to improvements in the health of Japanese people appears to be the boom in ingredients and recipes that came when a touch of Western cuisine was added to good old-fashioned Japanese tastes.To read more, go here.
