With that being the case, target shooting with a .22 LR rifle is looking more and more economical. I happen to have two .22 LR rifles: a Winchester 62A that I inherited from my maternal grandfather and a Ruger 10/22 that I bought around 1984.

Winchester 62A Pump Action Rifle

Above, my grandfather's Winchester 62A pump action rifle. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

Before I bought my Ruger 10/22 rifle, I primarily did target-shooting with my maternal grandfather's Winchester 62A .22 pump action rifle in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

The 62A is known as a gallery gun that took .22 short, .22 long and .22 long rifle cartridges. When I shot with it, I used .22 long rifle cartridges.

Based on the rifle's serial number, it was made in 1947.

It is a good firing gun. The video below will show how easy and quick one can shoot with it. The next time we go shooting (most likely in the spring), I will bring it along.

Winchester 62A .22 Pump Rifle

Above, my grandfather's Winchester 62A. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

For the past few months, I was wondering what happened to my grandfather's Winchester 62A .22 S/L/LR pump rifle.

I used it for target practice back in the 1970s and early 1980s before I bought a Ruger 10/22.

It seems I had it in my gun safe the whole time. My dad had a number of rifles and they ended up in my gun safe after he passed away. One of them was the Winchester. It was in a cloth scabbard and I hadn't looked inside until today.

I checked the serial number and it indicates that the rifle was manufactured in 1947.

Also checked values of the Winchester 62A with True Gun Value and this is what they say:
