Climate Madness: Kill 200,000 Dairy Cows

The United States isn't the only country in the west with Leftist lunatics.

The Left in Ireland wants to destroy the dairy farm industry. All in the name of climate change.

The Federalist Papers reported:

The high priests of climate change are at it again, this time decreeing that 200,000 dairy cows must be put to death to satisfy the left’s global warming religion.

This latest outrage is coming from government officials in Ireland who have announced the destruction of tens of thousands of dairy cows so that officials can meet their climate change goals.

One proposal claims that by reducing the country’s dairy herd by 10 percent, the equivalent of removing 65,000 cows a year for three years, will help officials meet their emissions reduction plans, according to Farmers Weekly citing the Irish Independent newspaper.

The Telegraph’s Jamie Blackett called the whole plan a sort of “madness.”

“Spending vast sums of taxpayer’s money on destroying productive animals would be a perfect summation of the net zero madness infecting the West. The Irish Department of Agriculture has said that the report was just a ‘modeling document’, but no sane government would even get to the point of including such a plan in ‘a deliberative process’” Why? Because it is irrational,” he wrote.

“The government’s Environmental Protection Agency produced a report in February this year proposing a 30% reduction in Irish cattle, which would equate to killing well over half a million cows,” the outlet reported.

Governments are also pushing synthetic foods in hopes of replacing real food.

Such “innovations” presumably include eliminating meat and forcing everyone to eat bugs. Other “solutions” could involve the development of synthetic meats that apparently contain precancerous cells.

These sort of harebrained schemes to meet climate goals are the talk of leftist governments everywhere, granted. Recently President Joe Biden’s “climate czar,” John Kerry, also talked of targeting America’s family farms for destruction to satisfy the left’s climate change obsession.

Rep. Brad Sherman Opposes Iran Nuke Deal

Above, Rep. Brad Sherman.

Readers of this blog know that I have had numerous disagreements with my area's U.S. Congressman, Brad Sherman. (Note: I did back Sherman two years ago in his election battle with Rep. Howard Berman.)

On occasion, Sherman has shown that he could be independent of his party's policy positions. I will continue to point out those positions where he's right, and those where he's wrong.

This week, Sherman announced that he will oppose the Iran nuclear deal recently negotiated by Secretary of State John Kerry. (See http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2015/aug/7/brad-sherman-defects-obama-iran-nuke-deal/)

Kudos to Rep. Sherman for opposing this bad deal.

Tensions Between Japan and China Heat Up

The office of Secretary of State John Kerry issued the following statement yesterday on the territorial dispute between China and Japan:
The United States is deeply concerned about China's announcement that they've established an "East China Sea Air Defense Identification Zone." This unilateral action constitutes an attempt to change the status quo in the East China Sea. Escalatory action will only increase tensions in the region and create risks of an incident.
Freedom of overflight and other internationally lawful uses of sea and airspace are essential to prosperity, stability, and security in the Pacific. We don't support efforts by any State to apply its ADIZ procedures to foreign aircraft not intending to enter its national airspace. The United States does not apply its ADIZ procedures to foreign aircraft not intending to enter U.S. national airspace. We urge China not to implement its threat to take action against aircraft that do not identify themselves or obey orders from Beijing.
We have urged China to exercise caution and restraint, and we are consulting with Japan and other affected parties, throughout the region. We remain steadfastly committed to our allies and partners, and hope to see a more collaborative and less confrontational future in the Pacific.
In a related article in Japan Today:
GENEVA — The United States said Sunday it was “deeply concerned” and committed to defending Japan after China announced an air zone in the East China Sea that includes disputed islands.

In a move that U.S. ally Japan branded as “very dangerous,” China said it was setting up the “air defense identification zone” over the islands administered by Tokyo to “guard against potential air threats.”

[Defense Secretary Chuck] Hagel reiterated that the Japanese-administered Senkaku islands—which the Chinese claim and call the Diaoyu—fell under the U.S.-Japan security treaty, meaning that Washington would defend its ally Tokyo if the area is attacked.
“We are in close consultation with our allies and partners in the region, including Japan. We remain steadfast in our commitments to our allies and partners,” Hagel said.
The defense chief made clear that the United States, which stations more than 70,000 troops in Japan and South Korea, would not respect China’s declaration of control over the zone.
“This announcement by the People’s Republic of China will not in any way change how the United States conducts military operations in the region,” Hagel said.
The outline of the zone, which is shown on the Chinese defense ministry website and a state media Twitter account (pic.twitter.com/4a2vC6PH8O), covers a wide area of the East China Sea between South Korea and Taiwan that includes airspace above the disputed islands.
Note: China's newly established air defense zone overlaps S. Korea's, according to a News Advisory from Kyodo News.

John Kerry Dining With Assad

The liberals love to point out a photo of former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld shaking hands with Saddam Hussein.

Now, a photo has surfaced of current Secretary of State John Kerry dining with Syrian President Bashar Hafez al-Assad:

Obama Leaks Cabinet Picks

Just in time for Halloween, the Obama campaign (counting their chickens before they hatch again) has leaked to the Times of London a couple of choices for his cabinet.

Bill Dyer writes at Townhall.com:

Sen. Barack Obama has done America a great service by leaking some names of likely cabinet nominees to the Times of London.

For Secretary of Defense, The One is is looking to the Republican whose own bad judgment most closely duplicated Sen. Obama's own in fervently opposing the Surge and demanding that we surrender in Iraq on a strict timetable: Sen. Chuck Hagel. In January 2007, Sen. Hagel was quoted as saying that the surge would be "the most dangerous foreign policy blunder in this country since Vietnam, if it's carried out."

And for the National Leader of the International Mother-May-I Team — excuse me, Secretary of State — Sen. Obama's leaking the name of Sen. John F. "Global Test" Kerry. Sen. Kerry, you'll recall, has splendid foreign policy credentials, having left behind in a Massachusetts closet his uniform as an officer in the U.S. Naval Reserve in 1970 (and perhaps again in 1971) so that he could travel to Paris and meet secretly and in mufti with our Viet Cong and North Vietnamese enemies.

John McCain was correct that Americans need not be "scared" that Obama himself is a terrorist or the like. But Americans ought be afraid of spectacularly bad judgments like these and the catastrophic consequences they could cause for the entire world.

"Change we can belive in"? These would be funny if the stakes weren't so high. Obama seems to think that he's coasting to a victory next month. But current tracking polls are showing that he's losing ground. These picks will only cause him to lose more.

Who's next? Jane Fonda?

John Kerry Also Unhinged Over Palin

Massachusetts Senator John Kerry claims Rush Limbaugh and other right wingers "forced" John McCain to choose Gov. Sara Palin to be his running mate. Looks to me that Kerry has also become unhinged, just like the rest of the Leftist Loons over the Palin selection.

Kerry was interviewed by ABC's George Stephanopoulos on Sunday's "This Week."

According to Kerry:

"John McCain wanted to choose Tom Ridge. He wanted to choose Joe Lieberman. He wanted to choose another candidate, but you know what? Rush Limbaugh and the right-wing vetoed it. And John McCain was forced to come back and pick a sort of Cheney-esque social conservative who's going to satisfy the base. What John McCain has proven with this choice is that John McCain is a prisoner of the right-wing, not a maverick."

This is funny since he's the one who picked the "Breck Girl" John Edwards to be his running mate, and it is said that neither man particularly is fond of the other. Also, I've never heard of John McCain ever listening to advice from Rush Limbaugh.

Kerry then talks about experience and judgement:

"That they come with the requisite experience to lead the nation in foreign policy and in national security. You know, she may be, I mean I'm sure she's a terrific person. I'm not attacking her. I think John McCain's judgment is once again put at issue because he's chosen somebody who clearly does not meet the national security threshold. Who is not ready to be president tomorrow."

Not attacking Palin?! He may not be directly attacking her, but the insinuations are still there.

Considering that the Democratic standard-bearer has no real practical experience outside of being a "community organizer", Kerry shouldn't be discussing one's judgment.

The Democrats are really going ape-$hit over the Palin selection because that's all they're talking about. Totally unhinged!

Rush Limbaugh is going to have a lot of fun with this when he returns to the airwaves tomorrow morning!

UPDATE: Rush said September 2 that "this statement proves that John Kerry remains an idiot!"
