Obama's Resume: Thin As Piss On A Rock

What does Obama's resume tell us? It tells us that he had great potential, but failed to act on opportunities. In short, he's an underachiever. The only thing he's achieved was to write two autobiographies and to seek higher office while doing little or nothing in the offices he held.

Dean Barnett picks through Obama's resume and found these interesting facts:

WHAT STORY DOES Barack Obama's résumé tell? Obama became the head of the Harvard Law Review in 1990 and graduated Harvard Law magna cum laude in 1991. These accomplishments suggest great intelligence and strong interpersonal skills. They also suggest limitless potential.

So what did Obama choose to do with his limitless potential after leaving Harvard? Not much. His first two years out of law school, he began writing a book, commenced lecturing at the University of Chicago Law School and returned to his old vocation of community organizing*. Obama's résumé would probably advertise the fact that he eschewed big money options to better serve humanity in these various capacities. Many members of the legal community would view these claims of selflessness with skepticism. Some cynical readers of his résumé would infer that he spent the time "trying to find himself," and perhaps think of the old Bill Cosby crack that after two years of searching, he should have been able to find not just himself but a couple of other people as well.

All readers of his résumé circa 1993 would ask what Obama accomplished at his serial vocations. And there the story gets grim. He didn't finish his book during the two years in question. He didn't pursue any scholarship at the University of Chicago, so his career there stalled at lecturer and never advanced to the professor level. And as is ever the case with something as nebulous as community organizing*, pointing to tangible accomplishments would be impossible.

Thus begins a pattern of under-achievement, or more specifically non-achievement, that has followed Obama since law school. In later years, Obama practiced law for a few years and then he had enough of that. His 1995 book, Dreams From My Father showed much promise, yet Obama didn't further explore his skills in this area until over a decade later with the best forgotten campaign tome, The Audacity of Hope. Similarly, Obama was a part time state legislator of minimal accomplishments. When Obama went to the United States Senate, he impressed his colleagues with his potential. But he again never attempted to tap that potential, beginning a run for president shortly after his arrival in the World's Greatest Deliberative Body.

Unlike Obama, one wouldn't look at the early years in Sarah Palin's résumé and necessarily see unlimited potential. A 1987 graduate of the University of Idaho, Palin's greatest accomplishments from her youth would come in the "Miscellaneous Information" portion of the résumé. The fact that she had won a beauty contest would impress some people. Her sinking of a critical free throw on a broken ankle in her high school state championship would impress others. Still, there would be nothing in Palin's résumé from her younger years that would suggest potential like Obama's.

And yet throughout her adult life Palin, again unlike Obama, overachieved. In 1992, she got elected to the Wasilla, AK city council. In 1996 she became mayor. She was by all accounts a very successful mayor. Her résumé entry for her mayoral years would have all sorts of bullet points for tangible accomplishments like reducing city property taxes by 40 percent. Similarly, Palin's time as governor has been distinguished. Both would starkly contrast with the various stops in Obama's career where he occasionally held impressive titles but accomplished little.

Two things would leap out from Sarah Palin's résumé--a pattern of overachievement and a pattern of actually getting things done. Two things would also leap out from Barack Obama's résumé--an undeniable wealth of talent and an equally undeniable dearth of accomplishments.

While it has become almost a cliché on the right to belittle Obama as a talker rather than a doer, his résumé suggests just that. Obama does have the requisite brain power to be president; it's unlikely that the intellectual demands of the job would overwhelm him. But his past work experience is unnerving. Obama had ample talent to excel at all the other positions he has held, and yet he accomplished little at each. So what would he do as president? Would his efforts in the Oval Office be as indifferent and irresolute as they've been at every other stop along his professional path? Could one imagine him making the political sacrifices and showing the fondness for bold action that characterized Harry S. Truman?

As for Palin, she lacks Obama's glittering Ivy League credentials. While that fact scandalizes vast portions of the Bos-Wash corridor, the scandalized neglect the most common purpose for an education--to develop one's abilities to such a point that one can actually begin accomplishing things. And there again is where Palin shines--she has gotten a tremendous amount done everyplace she has been.

In truth, Sarah Palin is the kind of employee virtually every enterprise seeks--the kind who gets things done. And Barack Obama is the kind of employee a company hires only when it's in the mood for taking a risk and willing to wager that the candidate's past performance isn't predictive of his future efforts.

Obama Campaign: Can't Google

Through either sheer stupidity or just gutter politics, the Obama campaign put out a new ad attacking Sen. John McCain for being "computer illiterate." The ad goes like this (Source: Los Angeles Times):

As part of its effort to show the 72-year-old Republican Sen. John McCain as old and out of touch, the Democratic Party's hip campaign of Sen. Barack Obama, which frequently says it honors the former POW's military service to his country, Friday released a new ad.

As noted Friday by our blogging colleagues over at the Technology blog here, the ad says, among other things: "1982, John McCain goes to Washington. Things have changed in the last 26 years, but McCain hasn't.

"He admits he doesn't know how to use a computer, can't send an e-mail."

Here's a passage from a lengthy Boston Globe profile on McCain that was published the last time he ran for president. It was headlined "McCain character loyal to a fault." It was written by Mary Leonard.

And it was printed more than eight years ago, on March 4, 2000.

It is available online, where Jonah Goldberg of The Corner blog at the National Review found it.

"McCain gets emotional at the mention of military families needing food stamps or veterans lacking health care. The outrage comes from inside: McCain's severe war injuries prevent him from combing his hair, typing on a keyboard, or tying his shoes. Friends marvel at McCain's encyclopedic knowledge of sports. He's an avid fan -- Ted Williams is his hero -- but he can't raise his arm above his shoulder to throw a baseball."

The trouble is, McCain is unable to use a keyboard, tie his shoes or comb his hair (he is unable to raise his arms above his shoulders) due to his tortured fingers by the hands of North Vietnamese torturers when McCain was a prisoner of war.

A simple Google search by the Obama campaign would have told them the reasons beforehand. Either they didn't bother to check up on this (Obama should have known since he's a member of the U.S. Senate along with McCain) or it was their desire to further wallow in the gutter. Lest I forget, Obama approved the message.

McCain maybe can't send an email, but Obama's campaign can't Google.

Gutter Politics, The Democrat Way

The Democrat Smear Machine is now running full throttle. Democrats far and wide are slinging mud at Sen. John McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin with no sense of any common decency.

Just today, South Carolina Democratic chairwoman Carol Fowler sharply slimed Sarah Palin, saying John McCain had chosen a running mate "whose primary qualification seems to be that she hasn’t had an abortion.”

When the "fit hit the shan", Fowler issued the following apology:

"I personally admire and respect the difficult choices that women make everyday, and I apologize to anyone who finds my comment offensive. I clumsily was making a point about people in South Carolina who may vote based on a single issue. Whether it’s the environment, the economy, the war or a woman’s right to choose, there are people who will cast their vote based on a single issue. That was the only point I was attempting to make."

At least she had the guts to apologize. But there's more!

Tennessee Rep. Steve Cohen did his own mud-slinging:

The Tennessee Democrat, was on the House floor giving a one-minute speech when he offered the comparisons.

“If you want change, you want the Democratic Party,” Cohen said. “Barack Obama was a community organizer like Jesus, who our minister prayed about. Pontius Pilate was a governor.”

A similar statement has been circulating in e-mails and on blogs in recent days, before Cohen spoke Wednesday. This also comes on the heels of Obama’s comment Tuesday that “you can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig.”

This reminds me of the ad Governor Edmund G. Brown used in 1966 against Ronald Reagan that badly backfired. In it, Brown is shown talking to schoolchildren saying, "Remember, Lincoln was shot by an actor!" This was Reagan's first campaign for governor after having been a movie & television actor and General Electric spokesman. Reagan ended up winning by a million votes.

Joe Biden also lobbed his share of mud when the said, “If you care about (children with developmental disabilities), why don’t you support stem cell research?”

The gutter politics of the Democrats doesn't just stop at mudslinging. 30 Obama campaign operatives and investigators have been air-dropped into Alaska hoping to find some dirt on Gov. Palin.

The Democrats have gone beyond "unhinged," they are undergoing a panic-driven implosion. All they have left is to sling mud. As if that's going to help them.

This has caused more thoughtful Democrats to recoil. Susan Estrich wrote:

One of the things that the initial barrage of mostly unfair attacks on Palin by many of my friends managed to accomplish was to turn her into a martyr, a heroine, a symbol of the bias and viciousness and just plain sexism of many in the left medial bloggerland. It helped turn Sarah Palin into one of the most popular and respected people in the country.

They can spew all the bile and spleen they want, that'll just make McCain-Palin's victory more of a landslide.

The Implosion of Barack Obama

Barack Obama and his campaign are imploding. Ever since John McCain named Sarah Palin as his VP choice, the Democrats have become unhinged.

They have engaged in multiple smears and up to now, Obama himself stayed above the fray. Now it was his turn to jump into the gutter.

At a campaign rally in Virginia yesterday, Obama used the old joke, "No matter how much lipstick you put on a pig, it's still a pig." This was an obvious reference to Palin's joke, "What's the difference between a pit bull and a hockey mom? Lipstick!"

Some have taken Obama's comment as calling Palin a pig. Maybe, maybe not. But the obvious reference is still there as Palin pretty much copyrighted lipstick in this campaign.

It was also planned and not a mistake.

Hugh Hewitt said it best:

Either Obama's dim as can be, or he is angry at having been thrown backwards week after week. When Obama denies having targeted Palin, keep in mind that everyone instantly made the connection. Is Obama really that clueless? An angry outburst does less damage than his pleading he didn't mean it that way. Remember the raised finger?

Keep in mind as well that Obama has been telling us his genius at running his campaign is evidence of his fitness to be president. Some genius. We are watching a crack-up under pressure. His Chicago handlers might be able to put the wheels back on, but we now have a glimpse of "glass jaw" Obama in a crisis.

Update from Hewitt: Callers and e-mailers are furious with Obama. Beyond furious, really. MSM is ignoring this tsunami of a story thus far, but it has traveled around the globe and back and will keep traveling. Millions of women will never forget and they won't forgive.

Obama said the McCain campaign moved to "seize an innocent remark and take it out of context because they knew it's catnip for the news media."

"See, it would be funny, but the news media decided that would be the lead story yesterday. This happens every election cycle. Every four years, this is what we do. This is what they want to spend two of the last 55 days talking about...Enough!" he said.

Obama called the attacks "lies, outrage and swift boat politics."

"These are serious times and they call for a serious debate...spare me all the phony outrage. Spare me all the phony talk about change," he said.

UPDATE: McCain spokesman Brian Rogers responds: “Barack Obama can’t campaign with schoolyard insults and then try to claim outrage at the tone of the campaign. His talk of new politics is as empty as his campaign trail promises, and his record of bucking his party and reaching across the aisle simply doesn’t exist.”

We now know the official Obama talking point on Lipstick-gate.

In the course of her Morning Joe appearance today, Obama spokeswoman Linda Douglass used the word "ridiculous" no fewer than six times to dismiss the controversy that has arisen since Obama said yesterday that you can put lipstick on a pig but it's still a pig.

Douglass was an ostensibly objective reporter at the National Journal before jumping ship for Obama in the midst of this campaign season.

World Wants Obama: So what?

The Australian Broadcasting Network reports that "the world" prefers Barack Obama over John McCain to be the next president.

They write:

US Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama may be struggling to nudge ahead of his Republican rival in polls at home, but people across the world want him in the White House, a BBC poll said.

All 22 countries covered in the poll would prefer to see Senator Obama elected US president ahead of Republican John McCain.

In 17 of the 22 nations, people expect relations between the US and the rest of the world to improve if Senator Obama wins.

More than 22,000 people were questioned by pollster GlobeScan in countries ranging from Australia to India and across Africa, Europe and South America.

The margin in favour of Senator Obama ranged from 9 per cent in India to 82 per cent in Kenya, while an average of 49 per cent across the 22 countries preferred Senator Obama compared with 12 per cent preferring Senator McCain. Some four in 10 did not take a view.

Frankly, I don't give a rat's ass about what other countries think. Thank goodness they aren't allowed to vote in our elections (unless Obama's buddies at ACORN are busy fraudulently registering non-Americans to vote in our election).

Naturally, Obama represents change that Osama bin Laden, Muammar al-Gaddafi and Kim Jung Il believe in.

Enthusiasm and Star Power For McCain-Palin

McCain crowds have grown enormously since Sen. John McCain picked Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to be his running mate.

Previously, crowds averaged about 1,000. But since Palin's pick, the smallest crowd for a McCain rally was about 5,000. Estimates of last weekend's Colorado Springs rally ranged from 11,000 to 30,000.

The "Palin Factor" has greatly boosted McCain's crowds and GOP enthusiasm.

Besides Palin, the campaign has also included actor Robert Duvall, adding more star power to the campaign.

Robert Duvall and his wife, Luciana Pedraza, were the opening act for Sen. John McCain and his running mate, Sarah Palin, at the Albuquerque Convention Center this evening.

Walking on stage, Duvall, the star of the "Godfather," shouted out, "Somebody give me an amen!"

The crowd, numbering in the thousands, shouted "amen" back at Duvall.

"My friend, Wilford Brimley, the old cowboy actor you may know, told me, 'Bobby, when you sit down and talk with this man, he will sit down and listen to you with no agenda,' " Duvall said, adding that Brimley told him when McCain "was in North Vietnam in the prison camps, they tried to kill him and he wouldn't let them."

Actor Robert Duvall claimed to have known about Palin all along. At the New Mexico event, he was on hand to cheer on the new political couple.

"About a year ago I first saw this wonderful woman speak," the veteran of "Lonesome Dove" and the "Godfather" movies said. "I didn't know who it was. And I said who is this woman? And a year later, I said to myself about three or four weeks ago, why isn't she up for the vice presidency?"

Glad to see that Hollywood conservatives haven't gone extinct.

The Post today enthusiastically urges the election of Sen. John S. McCain as the 44th president of the United States.

McCain's lifelong record of service to America, his battle-tested courage, unshakeable devotion to principle and clear grasp of the dangers and opportunities now facing the nation stand in dramatic contrast to the tissue-paper-thin resume of his Democratic opponent, freshman Sen. Barack Obama.

McCain has been in Washington for many years now, but he is not of Washington. He knows where the levers of power are located - and how to manipulate them - but he is not controlled by them.

McCain's selection of the charming, but rock-solid, outsider Sarah Palin as his running mate underscores the point.

Neither plays well with others.

And this is an unalloyed asset at a time when special interests - lobbyists, lawyers and organized labor chief among them - wield enormous influence in the nation's capital.

McCain's Democratic opponents, Obama and Sen. Joseph Biden, lead a party constructed of special interests - public-employee unionists in particular.

There are many reasons to support the McCain-Palin ticket. Here are but a few:

National security: The differences between McCain and Obama are especially stark.

McCain says 9/11 represented a two-decade "failure ... to respond to ... a [growing] global terror network." He understood that Iraq is a critical front in the war on terror - and he urged perseverance even in the dark days that preceded the success of "the surge."

Obama backed policies that would have abandoned Iraq to its fate, he bitterly opposed the surge, and once insisted that US forces invade Pakistan in search of Osama bin Laden - seemingly without regard for the potential consequences of attacking a nuclear-armed nation, ally or not.

Regarding a nuclear Iran, McCain has pushed for the strongest possible international sanctions and diplomatic pressure. Obama opposes sanctions.

And, when Russia invaded the former Soviet republic of Georgia, threatening a return to the Cold War, McCain reacted with stern disapprobation: "We must remind Russia's leaders that the benefits they enjoy from being part of the civilized world require their respect for the values, stability and peace of that world."

Obama called for UN action - unaware, apparently, that Russia's Security Council veto would have prevented any.

Taxes: McCain knows that when government absorbs ever-larger shares of national income, the economy suffers.

High tax rates diminish investment, killing jobs and stunting growth.

And while Obama promises tax cuts for "95 percent" of Americans, what he actually is proposing is some $650 billion in tax-credit-driven hikes in entitlement and other spending, to be paid for with heavier imposts across the board, but especially on investment - like a sharply higher capital-gains tax.

This is bad news for the millions of ordinary Americans who own stocks, either personally or through pension funds or who plan someday to sell their homes or other real property.

McCain, wisely, vows to keep capital-gains taxes at 15 percent and to keep the Bush-era tax cuts in place - understanding that new growth will boost revenue, and promising to make up the rest with spending restraint.

And he's called for a one-year freeze on most discretionary spending and an end to pork-barrel giveaways.

Trade: "I object when Senator Obama and others preach the false virtues of economic isolationism," says McCain - noting that "globalization is an opportunity" for US workers. He adds that while emerging economies like those of China and India are worrisome, the answer is competition informed by education and innovation - not protectionism.

Energy: On the economic issue most vexing Americans today - energy prices - McCain is aggressive

He is a strong convert to offshore drilling: "We have trillions of dollars' worth of oil and gas reserves in the US at a time we are exporting hundreds of billions of dollars a year overseas to buy energy."

He also strongly backs nuclear power - a carbon-free form of energy that America can produce relatively cheaply.

Obama, meanwhile, hews to the Democratic Party line on energy: no nukes, no drilling and no comprehension of the consequences of such policies.

None of this implies an iota of disrespect toward Obama. It took a formidable candidacy to defeat Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton - a candidacy, by the way, which we strongly supported earlier this year.

And the intelligence, the organizational skills and the ability to communicate that Obama demonstrated from the beginning dramatically underscore the history that is being made by the first African-American to head a major-party presidential ticket.

He should be around for a long time, and we hope that he is.

In the end, though, sound security, economic and energy policies - plus allegiance to principle - are critical to keeping America safe and strong.

On all counts, John McCain and Sarah Palin understand this - and that's why we're in their corner to the finish.

Olbermann & Matthews Get The Boot

It was gratifying to see that some execs at MSNBC finally took their heads out of "somewhere" and removed Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews from the anchor chairs following the GOP National Convention.

Matthews has his moments of rationality, but Olbermann is just plain creepy.

New York (AP) - MSNBC said Sunday it is replacing Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews as co-anchors of political night coverage with David Gregory, and will use the two newsmen as commentators.

The change reflects tensions between the freewheeling, opinionated MSNBC and the impartial newsgatherers at NBC News. Throughout the primaries and summer, MSNBC argued that Olbermann and Matthews could serve as dispassionate anchors on political news nights and that viewers would accept them in that role, but things fell apart during the conventions.

Gregory, the veteran Washington hand, will anchor MSNBC's coverage of the presidential and vice presidential debates and election night, said Jeremy Gaines, network spokesman. The change was first reported by The New York Times.

The tipping point appears to have come during the Republican convention when Olbermann, after the network aired a Sept. 11-themed video prepared by the Republicans, said that MSNBC should not have shown it.

Perhaps most embarrassing, Joe Scarborough was discussing positive developments in John McCain's campaign at one point when Olbermann was heard on an offstage microphone saying: "Jesus, Joe, why don't you get a shovel?"

Scarborough, a former Republican congressman and host of MSNBC's "Morning Joe," got in another nasty on-air exchange with MSNBC reporter David Shuster, and Matthews snapped at Olbermann on-air when it appeared Olbermann was criticizing him for talking too much.

All the drama made MSNBC a punch line when top NBC anchor Brian Williams appeared on Comedy Central's "The Daily Show" last week. "Is there no control?" Stewart asked him. “’Is it ‘Lord of the Flies?’”

A sheepish Williams said that every family has a dynamic of its own.

"But does MSNBC have to be the Lohans?" Stewart said.

Couldn't have said it better!

Campaign Silly Season: Transitions Lenses

"Obama Campaign Demands Transitions Optical Pull Ad; Says Woman In Ad Looks Like Palin!"

With rumors and smears on Gov. Sarah Palin flowing from the MSM and left wing bloggers of every description, it is amazing that this one hasn't popped up on anyone's radar.

Transitions lenses has an advertisement out featuring a woman photographer (supposedly a National Geographic photographer) out on the African Plain. The ad's tag line is:

You can replace a camera, but you only have one pair of eyes.

Well, the lady in the ad does sort of resembles Gov. Palin, and the glasses she's wearing kind of look like the type that Palin wears. But, no, the Obama campaign has made no such demands.

But the way things are going, I really wouldn't be surprised that some yo-yo in the Obama campaign contacts Transitions Optical, Inc. and demands the ad be pulled.

Sleaze Alert!

Sleaze Alert! The Drudge Report has posted an item (no link) stating that the New York Times has some sort of "expose" on Gov. Sarah Palin's Down's Syndrome baby.

What on earth could possibly be an "expose" on a baby that would cause problems for his mother, who happens to be the GOP nominee for vice president?! What, she uses Huggies instead of Pampers?

The MSM are getting desperate to try to destroy Sarah Palin.

Obama and the Weather Underground Terrorists

In April, Sen. Barack Obama said this when questioned about his associations with Weather Underground terrorist William Ayres:

"This is a guy who lives in my neighborhood, who's a professor of English in Chicago who I know and who I have not received some official endorsement from. He's not somebody who I exchange ideas from on a regular basis. And the notion that somehow as a consequence of me knowing somebody who engaged in detestable acts 40 years ago, when I was eight years old, somehow reflects on me and my values doesn't make much sense, George."

New information has surfaced that exposed the lie that Obama told above. His associations and connections to William Ayres and Ayres's wife Bernardine Dohrn were more extensive than what Obama admitted to.



While it is true that Obama was a mere child when the Weather Underground set off bombs at police stations, banks, The Pentagon and the U.S. Capitol, Obama was in his thirties when the association began. (I was in my teens at the time of the bombings and I remember them well.) But why did Obama associate himself with radical terrorists? Any decent person with a bit of common sense wouldn't. That is like associating with Timothy McVeigh (of Oklahoma City Bombing fame). Obama can't claim ignorance about knowledge of Ayres's past history.

Rick Moran at The American Thinker writes:

As we wait for the press and others to go through the thousands of documents related to the Chicago Annenberg Challenge where Barack Obama served as President of the Board and terrorist William Ayers headed up the operations arm, we can say for certain that Obama is a liar of the first magnitude.

Reviews of the Annenberg Challenge records show this so far:

The UIC records show that Obama and Ayers attended board meetings, retreats and at least one news conference together as the education program got under way. The two continued to attend meetings together during the 1995-2001 operation of the program, records show.

In 1970, a nail bomb intending to kill U.S. soldiers, and designed by Ayres, accidentally exploded in a townhouse. The explosion killed three WU operatives, including Ayres's then-girlfriend Diana Oughton.

The bomb was intended for detonation at a dance that was to be attended by army soldiers at Fort Dix, New Jersey. Hundreds of lives could have been lost had the plan been successfully executed. Ayers attested that the bomb would have done serious damage, "tearing through windows and walls and, yes, people too."

Michael Barone wrote on August 22 in U.S. News & World Report:

In my U.S. News column this week, I make a brief reference to the unrepentant Weather Underground terrorist bomber William Ayers and his connections to Barack Obama. They were closer than Obama implied when George Stephanopoulos asked him about Ayers in the April 16 debate—the last debate Obama allowed during the primary season. To get an idea of how close they were, check out Tom Maguire's Just One Minute blog and Steve Diamond's Global Labor and Politics. The Obama-Ayers relationship is also mentioned in David Freddoso's The Case Against Barack Obama: The Unlikely Rise and Unexamined Agenda of the Media's Favorite Candidate.

Ayers was one of the original grantees of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, a school reform organization in the 1990s, and was cochairman of the Chicago School Reform Collaborative, one the two operational arms of the CAC. Obama, then not yet a state senator, became chairman of the CAC in 1995. Later in that year, the first organizing meeting for Obama's state Senate campaign was held in Ayers's apartment. Ayers later wrote a memoir, and an article about him appeared in the New York Times on Sept. 11, 2001. "I don't regret setting bombs," Ayers is quoted as saying. "I feel we didn't do enough."

Ayers was a terrorist in the late 1960s and 1970s whose radical group set bombs at the Pentagon and U.S. Capitol.

You might wonder what Obama was doing working with a character like this. And you might wonder how an unrepentant terrorist got a huge grant and cooperation from the Chicago public school system. You might wonder—if you don't know Chicago. For this is a city with a civic culture in which politicians, in the words of a story often told by former congressman, federal judge, and Clinton White House counsel Abner Mikva, "don't want nobody nobody sent." That's what Mikva remembers being told when he went to a Democratic ward headquarters to volunteer for Adlai Stevenson in the 1950s, and it rings true. And it's a civic culture in which there's nobody better to send you than your parents.

That's how William Ayers got where he was. When he came out of hiding because the federal government was unable to prosecute him (because of government misconduct), he got a degree in education from Columbia and then moved to Chicago and got a job on the education faculty of the University of Illinois-Chicago Circle. How did he get that job? Well, it can't have hurt that his father, Thomas Ayers, was chairman of Commonwealth Edison (now Exelon) and a charter member of the Chicago establishment. As Mayor Richard M. Daley said recently, in arguing that the Ayers association should not be held against Obama, "His father was a great friend of my father."

For Obama, the outsider who gained the trust of the insiders, the position is different. He was willing to use Ayers and ally with him despite his terrorist past and lack of repentance. An unrepentant terrorist, who bragged of bombing the U.S. Capitol and the Pentagon, was a fit associate. Ayers evidently helped Obama gain insider status in Chicago civic life and politics—how much, we can't be sure unless the Richard J. Daley Library opens the CAC archive. But most American politicians would not have chosen to associate with a man with Ayers's past or of Ayers's beliefs. It's something voters might reasonably want to take into account.

One of the few of the MSM, Jake Tapper, Senior Washington Correspondent of ABC News wrote:

They served on a board together when Obama was a state senator. Ayres donated $200 to Obama's campaign in 2001. They sat on a panel together in 2002 called "Intellectuals in Times of Crisis." Obama went to Ayres and Dohrn's home in 1995 to be introduced to some of the more influential liberals in the area by the state senator he was preparing to succeed, Alice Palmer.

Last month, when the ad by The American Issues Project targeted Obama's association with Ayres was run in 150 cities in battleground states, the Obama campaign tried to prevent the ad from being shown and tried to sic the Justice Department on the organization. Obviously, Obama does not want his association with Ayres to be known by the electorate. Fortunately, the move by the Obama campaign only drew more attention to the ad.

At the time, McCain spokesman Brian Rogers said, "The fact that Barack Obama chose to launch his political career at the home of an unrepentant terrorist raises more questions about Senator Obama's judgment than any TV ad ever could."

When Ayres had the charges against him dismissed (due to FBI misconduct), he boasted, "Guilty as hell, but free as a bird!"

The association of Barack Obama and William Ayres and Bernardine Dohrn should be enough to disqualify Obama for the presidency or even a State Department or Defense Department security clearance.

The MSM has pretty much ignored this story, with few exceptions. They only picked up on it when the American Issues Project ad ran and the Obama campaign screamed bloody murder.

It is now obvious that Chicago is the hotbed for radicalism, and Obama was right in the thick of it. His associations call to question the fitness and judgment of Barack Obama to be elected president.

Obama's Radical Community Organizing With ACORN

The Obama campaign has been attacking Gov. Sarah Palin's experience as a mayor, while at the same time ignoring the fact that she's the sitting governor of Alaska.

When Palin described her tenure as mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, she said, "I guess being a small town mayor is sort of like being a community organizer, except you have actual responsibilities." That drove the Obamatrons absolutely bonkers!

Robert Gibbs, an Obama advisor appeared on Larry King Live and said this:

"Let me tell you a little bit about what Barack Obama did when he moved to Chicago. He went into neighborhoods that had been decimated by steel plants that had been closed and helped those guys get job training and get jobs and get back up on their feet. That's what Barack Obama's done with his life, and I think that's an experience that we'll put up against the governor of Alaska, the senator from Arizona, or, quite frankly, anybody else in this race."

Hmmm. Just how many jobs did Obama create as a community organizer? He hasn't said and is likely not to.

But the real story on Obama's community organizer work was discussed the other day by Rush Limbaugh:

"We all know what Obama did as a community organizer in Chicago. He worked for ACORN. You know what ACORN is. It's an ultra-radical left-wing fraudulent voter registration operation that is caught routinely, frequently cheating, registering illegals, registering people multiple times. They've been a victim of lawsuits. That's who Obama worked for. That's Chicago thug politics, as described by Bill Clinton. And that's what he was doing in the community. He was learning from the bottom up, gutter Democrat Party politics. They talk about him as a community organizer as a way to mask that."

Don't just take Rush's word for it. Stanley Kurtz in National Review Online wrote:

This is a story we’ve largely missed. While Obama’s Acorn connection has not gone entirely unreported, its depth, extent, and significance have been poorly understood. Typically, media background pieces note that, on behalf of Acorn, Obama and a team of Chicago attorneys won a 1995 suit forcing the state of Illinois to implement the federal “motor-voter” bill. In fact, Obama’s Acorn connection is far more extensive. In the few stories where Obama’s role as an Acorn “leadership trainer” is noted, or his seats on the boards of foundations that may have supported Acorn are discussed, there is little follow-up. Even these more extensive reports miss many aspects of Obama’s ties to Acorn.

An Anti-Capitalism Agenda

To understand the nature and extent of Acorn’s radicalism, an excellent place to begin is Sol Stern’s 2003 City Journal article, “ACORN’s Nutty Regime for Cities.” (For a shorter but helpful piece, try Steven Malanga’s “Acorn Squash.”)

Sol Stern explains that Acorn is the key modern successor of the radical 1960’s “New Left,” with a “1960’s-bred agenda of anti-capitalism” to match. Acorn, says Stern, grew out of “one of the New Left’s silliest and most destructive groups, the National Welfare Rights Organization.” In the 1960’s, NWRO launched a campaign of sit-ins and disruptions at welfare offices. The goal was to remove eligibility restrictions, and thus effectively flood welfare rolls with so many clients that the system would burst. The theory, explains Stern, was that an impossibly overburdened welfare system would force “a radical reconstruction of America’s unjust capitalist economy.” Instead of a socialist utopia, however, we got the culture of dependency and family breakdown that ate away at America’s inner cities — until welfare reform began to turn the tide.

While Acorn holds to NWRO’s radical economic framework and its confrontational 1960’s-style tactics, the targets and strategy have changed. Acorn prefers to fly under the national radar, organizing locally in liberal urban areas — where, Stern observes, local legislators and reporters are often “slow to grasp how radical Acorn’s positions really are.” Acorn’s new goals are municipal “living wage” laws targeting “big-box” stores like Wal-Mart, rolling back welfare reform, and regulating banks — efforts styled as combating “predatory lending.” Unfortunately, instead of helping workers, Acorn’s living-wage campaigns drive businesses out of the very neighborhoods where jobs are needed most. Acorn’s opposition to welfare reform only threatens to worsen the self-reinforcing cycle of urban poverty and family breakdown. Perhaps most mischievously, says Stern, Acorn uses banking regulations to pressure financial institutions into massive “donations” that it uses to finance supposedly non-partisan voter turn-out drives.

According to Stern, Acorn’s radical agenda sometimes shifts toward “undisguised authoritarian socialism.” Fully aware of its living-wage campaign’s tendency to drive businesses out of cities, Acorn hopes to force companies that want to move to obtain “exit visas.” “How much longer before Acorn calls for exit visas for wealthy or middle-class individuals before they can leave a city?” asks Stern, adding, “This is the road to serfdom indeed.”

The Canada Free Press.com adds:

Obama-style community organizing is pure leftist, anti-capitalist agitation. It’s about that nebulous Marxist concept of ’social justice.’ It’s about making people angry so they push for change. The kind of change they seek is rarely good. It often artificially creates pressure for government spending on whatever project is fashionable in leftist circles that day. Filled with robust self-esteem, community organizers are typically professional revolutionaries who believe that something is terribly wrong with America and that they are the ones anointed to fix it.

The father of community organizing was ultra-leftist Saul Alinsky (1909-1972), a Chicagoan who elevated local-level political agitation to an art form. Alinsky, a significant influence on Obama, believed in “rubbing raw the sores of discontent.” In his classic book Rules for Radicals, Alinsky prescribed the tactics and defined the goals of community organizing. Among his “rules“: “Keep the pressure on. Never let up” and “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.”

Alinsky taught his disciples to disguise their radical ideology. “Camouflage is key to Alinsky-style organizing. In organizing coalitions of black churches in Chicago, Obama caught flak for not attending church himself. He became an instant churchgoer,” notes Richard Lawrence Poe. According to Alinsky, an effective radical activist “discards the rhetoric that always says ‘pig’ ” when describing police officers, and uses other linguistic tricks in order, “to radicalize parts of the middle class.” Winning over the middle class is key, Alinsky argued, because “the power and the people are in the big middle-class majority.”

Then there’s the vote fraud factory known as the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now or ACORN. ACORN describes itself as “the nation’s largest community organization of low- and moderate-income families, working together for social justice and stronger communities.” ACORN, Sol Stern writes, “promotes a 1960s-bred agenda of anti-capitalism, central planning, victimology, and government handouts to the poor.”

Obama previously worked for ACORN, directing its voter mobilization arm, Project Vote, a successful voter registration campaign that helped propel Democrat Carol Moseley Braun into the U.S. Senate by adding an estimated 125,000 voters to the rolls. Project Vote claims to conduct “non-partisan” voter registration drives, counsels potential voters on their rights, and litigates on behalf of the poor and “disenfranchised.”

Its greatest legislative accomplishment is the National Voter Registration Act of 1993, commonly known as Motor Voter. In his book Stealing Elections, Wall Street Journal columnist John Fund argues that the law leads to voter fraud:

"Perhaps no piece of legislation in the last generation better captures the ‘incentivizing’ of fraud… than the 1993 National Voter Registration Act…Examiners were under orders not to ask anyone for identification or proof of citizenship. States also had to permit mail-in voter registrations, which allowed anyone to register without any personal contact with a registrar or election official. Finally, states were limited in pruning ‘dead wood’ - people who had died, moved or been convicted of crimes - from their rolls. … Since its implementation, Motor Voter has worked in one sense: it has fueled an explosion of phantom voters.”

In 1995, Obama sued on behalf of ACORN for the implementation of Motor Voter laws in Illinois and won. That secured Obama an invitation to train ACORN staff. Obama later returned the favor when, as a member of the Woods Fund board, he approved frequent grants to ACORN.

On November 3, 2006, the Wall Street Journal wrote:

So, less than a week before the midterm elections, four workers from Acorn, the liberal activist group that has registered millions of voters, have been indicted by a federal grand jury for submitting false voter registration forms to the Kansas City, Missouri, election board. But hey, who needs voter ID laws?

We wish this were an aberration, but allegations of fraud have tainted Acorn voter drives across the country. Acorn workers have been convicted in Wisconsin and Colorado, and investigations are still under way in Ohio, Tennessee and Pennsylvania.

The good news for anyone who cares about voter integrity is that the Justice Department finally seems poised to connect these dots instead of dismissing such revelations as the work of a few yahoos. After the federal indictments were handed up in Kansas City this week, the U.S. Attorney's office said in a statement that "This national investigation is very much ongoing."

Let's hope so. Acorn officials bill themselves as nonpartisan community organizers merely interested in giving a voice to minorities and the poor. In reality, Acorn is a union-backed, multimillion-dollar outfit that uses intimidation and other tactics to push for higher minimum wage mandates and to trash Wal-Mart and other non-union companies.

The next time you hear Obama whine about reports of his radical associations and jabs at his community organizer work, just remember what you read here.

This barely scratches the surface of Obama's radicalism. Then there's his associations with William Ayres and Bernardine Dohrn of the terrorist group, The Weather Underground. But that will be presented later.

Trashed DNC U.S. Flags Rescued By McCain-Palin

The Democrats put on quite a show at their national convention last week.

From styrofoam Greek temples, spectacular fireworks to thousands of American flags, the Democrats did their best to wow America with their extravaganza.

There's one little thing, though. What became of all those American flags?

It has been discovered that the Democrats who attended didn't seem to find them important enough to take home as souvenirs (I am sure some did, but apparently not many).



According to Fox News:

McCain supporters, claiming they rescued 12,000 miniature American flags from the site of Barack Obama’s nomination acceptance speech last Thursday, redistributed the orphan flags to audience members ahead of a McCain rally in Colorado Springs on Saturday.

The move was an overt swipe at Obama from a campaign whose motto has been “country first.” But Democratic convention organizers claimed the flags were going to be reused — but instead were snatched from the site of Obama’s historic address to carry out a “cheap political stunt.”

McCain supporters said the flags were discovered by a vendor at Denver’s Invesco Field after the conclusion of the Democratic National Convention. The vendor supposedly found trash bags full of flags in and near garbage bins, and turned them over to the McCain campaign.

Boy Scouts were sorting through 84 bags of flags in Colorado on Saturday, before a McCain supporter had veterans distribute them to the audience.

Barack Obama has been whining about alleged attacks on his patriotism. While I don't blame him for the discarded and rescued flags, I do blame the Democrats for this disrespectful offense.

I have attended political campaign rallies for over 36 years. Whenever I received a flag to wave at an event (most came from Ronald Reagan rallies), I take it home with me. I have dozens of them. I even label the sticks with information on where I obtained the flag. I still have them.

Apparently, Democrats aren't sentimental as I am.

Update: I just spoke with the person at Invesco who found the flags. He thinks both sides are exaggerating a bit. He claims the majority of the bags with flags were near the trash and it was probably an "oversight" by the Democrats rather than a nefarious plot against the flag, but he doesn't believe anyone was coming to get them. "The flags were there for a week and a day and no one came looking for them," the person said.

Kelsey Smith's Killer To Be Sentenced

Edwin Hall, the confessed murderer of 18-year-old Kelsey Smith of Overland Park, Kansas will be formally sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole this coming week.

Greg Smith, Kelsey's father, posted the following over at Kelsey's Army.org:

The sentencing hearing for Kelsey's murderer will be held at the Johnson County Courthouse on September 16, 2008 at 1:30 PM. Anyone may attend and we encourage all those that do to wear blue in honor of Kelsey. The family will address the court at this hearing.

While the court part of the tragedy is almost over, the work still goes on for the Kelsey Smith Foundation. It is their goal to perpetuate Kelsey's memory with a living foundation that will educate young women on personal safety.

Oprah Winfrey Raked Over Coals

The Empress of the Oprah Winfrey Empire is being raked over the coals by irate women who are upset over Oprah's refusal to have Governor Sarah Palin on her show. (It is even questionable that Palin would accept if even invited.)

Winfrey claims that she doesn't want to make her show "political" by having candidates on her show. However, she has had Barack Obama on her show twice. She is an ardent supporter of Obama and hasn't made it any secret. She pretty much rescued Obama from oblivion last spring when he wasn't making any headway in the polls.

The women who are chastizing her are complaining that she's being a hypocrite as she already made her show political and doesn't have the guts to have Palin on. It would be interesting to see how many Republican women watch Oprah's show and buy her products.

Rush Begins To Name Media Assassins

On today's Rush Limbaugh Show's "Morning Update", Rush started to name names of the MSM assassins. The usual names are obvious (MSNBC's Olbermann, Matthews, et al.), but here's more (concentrating on the Associated Press). Here's the transcript:

RUSH: Well, terrific. I'm glad you called. Thanks very much out there, Steve. I have, ladies and gentlemen, the text of today's Morning Update. You may not have heard it. Let me briefly run through it so that you are informed as to his call. Starts this way: Governor Sarah Palin's home-run acceptance speech sent chills of fear throughout the Democrat party and the Drive-By Media. Their war room launched a rapid response effort led by a special-forces team from the Associated Press. AP sniper Dina Cappiello reported that the nickname for Sarah Palin among environmentalists-wackos is the "killa from Wasilla," because she has a philosophy of "cut, kill, dig and drill." Palin's chief environmental sin is that she doesn't buy into the man-made global warming hoax. AP stormtrooper Eric Gorski handled the religious attack, accusing Palin of hiding her true faith. "Sarah Palin often identifies herself simply as Christian," he wrote, "yet John McCain's running mate has deep roots in Pentecostalism, a spirit-filled Christian tradition that is one of the fastest growing in the world. It's often derided by outsiders and Bible-believers alike."

Do you think that AP stormtrooper Eric Gorski, when writing about Maryland representative Bob Wexler -- ahem, representing Florida, living in Maryland -- would ever write, "yet Mr. Wexler has deep roots in Judaism"? Do you think that would ever happen? Of course it won't happen. Sarah Palin, they can just impugn whatever they want. AP demolition specialist Ted Anthony was assigned the job of carpet bombing the family. He suggested that Palin's photo-ops with her children, even at the convention, "come across as contradictory: Hey, media, leave those kids alone -- so we [Republicans] can use them as we see fit"... is supposedly the message the Palins are sending. Veteran AP hit man Ron Fournier was called to defend the Drive-Bys blitzkrieg on Palin. "The media views its job as scrutinizing her background, helping voters determine her readiness to serve," he writes. No, Ron: It's clear to all your mission is to destroy her, as it is the mission of AP sniper Dina Cappiello, AP stormtrooper Eric Gorski, and AP demolition specialist Ted Anthony, all from the AP Special Forces team. Your effort is to destroy her, your purpose is to destroy her, and it will not happen this time.

Obama In Trouble; Turns To Hillary

Sen. Barack Obama, faced with "Sarah Mania," has turned to Hillary Clinton and other liberal women to rescue him.

Fearful that undecided women will turn to the McCain-Palin ticket, the Obama campaign has sought additional help from Clinton.

Small wonder Obama is turning to Hillary to rescue him.

Some Democrats were urging Mr. Obama’s campaign not to underestimate the potential power of Ms. Palin’s speech, even among voters not aligned with either party: On liberal talk-radio shows and on left-leaning blogs, some Democrats said the Obama campaign should fight back hard to avoid being caricatured as Senator John Kerry was four years ago when he ran against President Bush. Some party strategists warned that Mrs. Palin’s personal narrative as a “hockey mom” with a special-needs child, would appeal to some undecided women voters.

“What McCain has done with Governor Palin’s nomination is aim right at a demographic that Obama needs to address quickly: noncollege-educated women,” said Mike McCurry, a former spokesman in the Clinton White House. “They need to maximize Biden’s ability to reach out to them, but at the end of the day, it is Obama who has to get that very, very critical group.”

Clinton's advisors said that Clinton is willing to help, but urged the campaign not to overestimate the impact Mrs. Clinton could have, noting that she had other commitments this fall, like campaigning and raising money for Senate candidates as well as her own campaign debt (that Obama has done very little to help pay off).

Obama may need to take some sedatives pretty soon.

Governor Sarah Palin faced a glitch Wednesday night as she was delivering her acceptance speech. However, she handled the problem well.

Last night, according to Bret Baier of Fox News, Red State, and numerous other sources, Palin's TelePrompTer malfunctioned. The two TelePrompTers on the podium and the one on a screen on the far side of the auditorium were scrolling a couple of sentences ahead. I disagree with my U.S. News colleague Robert Schlesinger's conclusion that the malfunction was minor; if the TelePrompTer doesn't show the words you are supposed to say next, it's not much help. Palin's paper text was a crumpled-up copy of the seventh version of the speech, which was different from the final ninth version. Palin didn't stumble or show irritation; she did get one word slightly wrong. Before an audience of perhaps 15,000 and 37 million households (as compared to 38 million for Barack Obama), she didn't lose a beat. She is a pro.

It makes one wonder what Obama would do if his TelePrompTers acted up.

Palin Speech Drew Over 37 Million Viewers

Palin pulled in 37.2 million viewers across broadcast and cable networks, according to Nielsen Media Research.

That's 55% higher than Day 3 of the DNC, when her Democratic counterpart, Joe Biden, and President Clinton took the stage (24 million).

Sarah Palin's speech drew 37 million viewers!

UPDATE: Cable news network estimates show Fox News is out in front with 9.2 million viewers (from 10 to 11:15 p.m.), followed by CNN with 6.2 million and MSNBC with 3.4 million. Note CNN won last week when the Democrats were on stage, and Fox News has been taking the lead now that the Republicans are having their turn. CNN and Fox News also bested the broadcasters in the adult demo. From 10 to 11 p.m., NBC had 7.7 million, CBS had 4.9 million and ABC had 5.9 million.

This was the third-highest telecast ever in the history of Fox News (only other two that were higher was a Bush address re: Iraq in '03 and a debate in '04).

Also, PBS just chimed in to say 3.2 million watched on their network, which brings Palin's total viewership on ad-supported and public airwaves to more than 40 million.

40.5 million, to be exact.

Biden Caught In A Lie

Sen. Joe Biden, Obama's VP running mate, was caught in a lie about prosecuting President Bush or members of the Bush Administration for any "crimes" that may have occurred during Bush's tenure.

“If there has been a basis upon which you can pursue someone for a criminal violation, they will be pursued,” Biden said while campaigning in Florida on Monday, ABC News reported.

Barack Obama vowed in April that if elected, he would ask his attorney general to investigate Bush administration actions to see if “genuine crimes” have been committed.

Obama told the Philadelphia Daily News: “If crimes have been committed, they should be investigated.”

No wonder the left wing was in panic mode since Friday. Gov. Sarah Palin delivered an electrifying acceptance speech last night at the Republican National Convention. She showed that she could take a punch and deliver a return volley with humor, grace and clarity, just as Ronald Reagan did.

To the families of special-needs children all across this country, I have a message: For years, you sought to make America a more welcoming place for your sons and daughters.

I pledge to you that if we are elected, you will have a friend and advocate in the White House.

On Being Mayor:

And since our opponents in this presidential election seem to look down on that experience, let me explain to them what the job involves.

I might add that in small towns, we don't quite know what to make of a candidate who lavishes praise on working people when they are listening, and then talks about how bitterly they cling to their religion and guns when those people aren't listening.

We tend to prefer candidates who don't talk about us one way in Scranton and another way in San Francisco.

Answering The Washington Elitists:

But here's a little news flash for all those reporters and commentators: I'm not going to Washington to seek their good opinion - I'm going to Washington to serve the people of this country. Americans expect us to go to Washington for the right reasons, and not just to mingle with the right people.

On Energy:

With Russia wanting to control a vital pipeline in the Caucasus, and to divide and intimidate our European allies by using energy as a weapon, we cannot leave ourselves at the mercy of foreign suppliers.

And take it from a gal who knows the North Slope of Alaska: we've got lots of both.

Our opponents say, again and again, that drilling will not solve all of America's energy problems - as if we all didn't know that already.

But the fact that drilling won't solve every problem is no excuse to do nothing at all.

Starting in January, in a McCain-Palin administration, we're going to lay more pipelines ... build more nuclear plants ... create jobs with clean coal ... and move forward on solar, wind, geothermal, and other alternative sources.

We need American energy resources, brought to you by American ingenuity, and produced by American workers.

On Obama again:

I've noticed a pattern with our opponent.

Maybe you have, too.

We've all heard his dramatic speeches before devoted followers.

And there is much to like and admire about our opponent.

But listening to him speak, it's easy to forget that this is a man who has authored two memoirs but not a single major law or reform - not even in the state senate.

This is a man who can give an entire speech about the wars America is fighting, and never use the word "victory" except when he's talking about his own campaign. But when the cloud of rhetoric has passed ... when the roar of the crowd fades away ... when the stadium lights go out, and those Styrofoam Greek columns are hauled back to some studio lot - what exactly is our opponent's plan? What does he actually seek to accomplish, after he's done turning back the waters and healing the planet? The answer is to make government bigger ... take more of your money ... give you more orders from Washington ... and to reduce the strength of America in a dangerous world. America needs more energy ... our opponent is against producing it.

On The Economy:

Taxes are too high ... he wants to raise them. His tax increases are the fine print in his economic plan, and let me be specific.

The Democratic nominee for president supports plans to raise income taxes ... raise payroll taxes ... raise investment income taxes ... raise the death tax ... raise business taxes ... and increase the tax burden on the American people by hundreds of billions of dollars. My sister Heather and her husband have just built a service station that's now opened for business - like millions of others who run small businesses.

How are they going to be any better off if taxes go up? Or maybe you're trying to keep your job at a plant in Michigan or Ohio ... or create jobs with clean coal from Pennsylvania or West Virginia ... or keep a small farm in the family right here in Minnesota.

How are you going to be better off if our opponent adds a massive tax burden to the American economy?

On Change:

In politics, there are some candidates who use change to promote their careers.

And then there are those, like John McCain, who use their careers to promote change.

Palin spoke in a manner that used humor as Ronald Reagan used to do. She used wit, ancedotes and facts. And she was also compelling and spoke with a smile, not in anger. We could very well have a female Ronald Reagan in the making. That makes the Left frightened!

NOTE: Palin was once a television sportscaster, Reagan was a radio sportscaster. The parallels are eerie!

The Death of Journalism

The 2008 campaign will be noted as the year that journalism died.

The print and electronic media talking-heads have been fawning over Sen. Barack Obama who, if it wasn't for being black, would never be considered a qualified candidate for President of the United States. It may be "politically incorrect" to say so, but the truth is the truth.

When Obama scored a victory in the Iowa caucuses, the media's legs got all "tingly" (an actual quote from one talking-head). Hillary Clinton saw first hand at how a biased media can determine whether or not she would become the Democrat Party's nominee. Bill Clinton, a former media favorite, complained about the treatment his wife was getting. He was right. Now the media has set its sights on destroying Governor Sarah Palin and getting Obama elected.

Obama has been campaigning for about 19 months, but there has been no media scrutiny over his associations with convicted felon Tony Rezko, Weather Underground terrorist William Ayres, Rev. Jeremiah Wright (well, there was some there as Wright was so outrageous that they couldn't ignore him that much) and others comparable to what Palin has been receiving in five days. In the five days since her selection as John McCain's running mate, Gov. Sarah Palin received more "proctoscopic" examinations than Obama has received in 19 months.

There were also reports of journalists clapping and cheering at Obama's acceptance speech. Does that look like actions of an objective journalist?

A recent example are the covers of Us Weekly magazine (pictured). The first is a nice cover of Barack and Michelle Obama.



Then, you have a new issue featuring Gov. Palin. Note the headline? What lies? What scandal? Looks like Us Weekly has cast its vote in the election.



The Democrats are practicioners of the "politics of personal destruction." It only became obvious since Gov. Palin's selection that the press are now partners.

Talk show host Hugh Hewitt wrote in today's Townhall.com:

The outrageous and frequently sexist attacks and sneers directed at Sarah Palin by many in the MSM have opened a second front in Campaign 2008. Although the Beltway-Manhattan media elite have long been pulling for Obama, the naked partisanship and transparent attacks on Governor Palin have fueled a pro-Palin surge that will continue for some weeks.

I hope he's right. It has certainly fired up the Republican Party. The party is in a rage over this.

Hewitt also writes:

Millions of Americans are deeply ticked off at the assault on Sarah Palin launched by people who have never done anything but talked for a living and who wouldn't know how to turn on a snowmobile, a jet ski or an RV to save their lives, much less how to negotiate an oil lease. Millions of Americans who have never received a government check are shocked at the dismissiveness of Palin's background especially in contrast to the worship of the government-backed lifetime careers of Obama and Biden. And millions of American women are especially outraged that the feminist elite in the broadcast booths and newsrooms have joined the blogger mob in peddling smears about a wonderful mother and wife who also happens to have been an extremely successful professional in a variety of settings. Why, they wonder, has Obama gotten a year-long pass on his entire life including Ayers, the Annenberg Challenge, Rezko and Wright while Palin is put on the big media rack on made-up charges? Because she's a woman?

No, Hugh. It is not just because she's a woman, it is because she's a conservative Republican woman who has accomplishments. Obama has accomplished nothing.

Unless the media stops and takes a hard look at what their actions are doing, this year will mark the end of objective journalism. I'm not holding my breath.

John Kerry Also Unhinged Over Palin

Massachusetts Senator John Kerry claims Rush Limbaugh and other right wingers "forced" John McCain to choose Gov. Sara Palin to be his running mate. Looks to me that Kerry has also become unhinged, just like the rest of the Leftist Loons over the Palin selection.

Kerry was interviewed by ABC's George Stephanopoulos on Sunday's "This Week."

According to Kerry:

"John McCain wanted to choose Tom Ridge. He wanted to choose Joe Lieberman. He wanted to choose another candidate, but you know what? Rush Limbaugh and the right-wing vetoed it. And John McCain was forced to come back and pick a sort of Cheney-esque social conservative who's going to satisfy the base. What John McCain has proven with this choice is that John McCain is a prisoner of the right-wing, not a maverick."

This is funny since he's the one who picked the "Breck Girl" John Edwards to be his running mate, and it is said that neither man particularly is fond of the other. Also, I've never heard of John McCain ever listening to advice from Rush Limbaugh.

Kerry then talks about experience and judgement:

"That they come with the requisite experience to lead the nation in foreign policy and in national security. You know, she may be, I mean I'm sure she's a terrific person. I'm not attacking her. I think John McCain's judgment is once again put at issue because he's chosen somebody who clearly does not meet the national security threshold. Who is not ready to be president tomorrow."

Not attacking Palin?! He may not be directly attacking her, but the insinuations are still there.

Considering that the Democratic standard-bearer has no real practical experience outside of being a "community organizer", Kerry shouldn't be discussing one's judgment.

The Democrats are really going ape-$hit over the Palin selection because that's all they're talking about. Totally unhinged!

Rush Limbaugh is going to have a lot of fun with this when he returns to the airwaves tomorrow morning!

Obama Rebukes Leftist Loon Blogs On Palin Rumors

Politico's Carrie Budoff Brown reports: At a press avail in Monroe, Mich., Barack Obama on Palin: "Back off these kinds of stories."

"I have said before and I will repeat again: People's families are off limits," Obama said. "And people's children are especially off-limits. This shouldn't be part of our politics. It has no relevance to Gov. Palin's performance as a governor or her potential performance as a vice president. So I would strongly urge people to back off these kinds of stories. You know my mother had me when she was 18 and how a family deals with issues and teenage children, that shouldn’t be a topic of our politics."

On charges that his campaign has stoked the story via liberal blogs:

"I am offended by that statement. There is no evidence at all that any of this involved us," he said. "Our people were not involved in any way in this, and they will not be. And if I thought there was somebody in my campaign who was involved in something like that, they would be fired."

Palin To Be Grandmother

To knock down the vicious untrue rumors from the left wing blogosphere that Gov. Palin's son Trig was really her daughter's, Governor Palin and her husband has released the following statement:

"We have been blessed with five wonderful children who we love with all our heart and mean everything to us. Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. We're proud of Bristol's decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents. As Bristol faces the responsibilities of adulthood, she knows she has our unconditional love and support.

"Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family. We ask the media to respect our daughter and Levi's privacy as has always been the tradition of children of candidates."

I applaud the Palin's candor. Besides being the first woman vice-president, she will be the first vice-president who is a grandmother.

Biden Puts Foot In Mouth On Israel/Iran

Democratic Vice-Presidential candidate Joe Biden's chronic foot-in-mouth disease has returned, according to Haaretz Israeli News Service.

"Israel will have to reconcile itself with the nuclearization of Iran," Army Radio quoted Biden as telling the unnamed officials. Haaretz also reports that Army Radio also quoted Biden as saying that he opposed "opening a additional military and diplomatic front." He also expressed doubts on the effectiveness of sanctions against Iran.

Biden has long been considered a friend of Israel while as chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Having a nuclear Iran seriously worries Israel as Iran's leader Ahmadinejad has threatened to "wipe Israel off the face of the map." The Jerusalem Post has pointed out that the conversation took place three years ago.

It appears that Obama/Biden have already decided to surrender to Iran's nuclear blackmail even before the November election.
