We're in another month and it is time to do my usual little check on airfares from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Tokyo's Narita Airport (NRT) (or Haneda Airport). My check consists of the airfares the Los Angeles Times Travel section comes up with and whether or not (I usually do) I can beat their prices for non-stop round-trip airfares with my favorite source of airline tickets, GatewayLAX.
Sunday's Travel section (May 4) had the price ranges at $829.00 to $1,401.00. These prices do not include any taxes or fees.
My check with GatewayLAX found the lowest fare, $680.00, to be from Singapore Airlines, with departure to Narita on May 12 and return to LAX on May 26:
Keep in mind that the fare does not include any taxes or fees. In either case, figure around another $400-500 more (give or take) for taxes and fees.
The runner-up airline at GatewayLAX was China Airlines at $820.00 (not including taxes and fees).
As usual, GatewayLAX beat the Los Angeles Times' lowest airfare.
