Today, in Tokyo the dollar reached a four-year (and seven months) high when it rose above 102.50 yen, according to Jiji Press.
Yesterday, I received confirmation that I have been booked for a slideshow presentation of kajiu movie locations at the Distant Lands Travel Bookstore and Outfitters in Pasadena, California. The presentation will be on Monday, June 17 at 7:30 PM. Admission is free.
I will be discussing the various landmarks and locations used over the past 59 years in Japanese science-fiction and fantasy movies as well as other kaiju-related attractions (such as the Godzilla statues and Godzilla slide) based on my travel guide, The Monster Movie Fan's Guide To Japan. Copies of the guide will be available at the presentation.
There are other things in the works for the upcoming months, including the Days of the Dead Convention with the original Godzilla suit actor, Haruo Nakajima that will be held July 5-7 in Indianapolis.
