This has been one awful fire season for several western national parks. Unfortunately, Yosemite National Park is one of them.
The Railroad Fire has affected the park so much so that Highway 41 is closed.
According to the National Park Service website:
Highway 41 closed between Oakhurst and Yosemite; no access to Yosemite via Hwy 41
There is no access to Yosemite via Hwy 41 from Fish Camp, Oakhurst, or Fresno, due to the Railroad Fire. From Oakhurst, use Hwy 49 to Mariposa, then Hwy 140 to Yosemite. That means the South Entrance (the one I used last year) is closed.
Beware! Highway 49 is a long road with many hairpin turns. It will be a challenge to those driving a Class A RV.
