I Voted for Larry

(Zero Hedge)  -  If you’re looking for proof positive that Larry Elder is making progress toward winning California’s recall election, look no further than the LA Times.

The paper published a column on Friday claiming that longtime conservative, Fox News contributor and syndicated talk radio host Elder “is the Black face of white supremacy”.

Columnist Erika D. Smith wrote: “Few things infuriate me more than watching a Black person use willful blindness and cherry-picked facts to make overly simplistic arguments that whitewash the complex problems that come along with being Black in America.”

Melina Abdullah, cofounder of Black Lives Matter Los Angeles, even chimed in: “He is a danger, a clear and present danger.”

Abdullah continued: “Anytime you put a Black face on white supremacy, which is what Larry Elder is, there are people who will utilize that as an opportunity to deny white supremacy. They say, ‘How could this be white supremacy? This is a Black man.’ But everything that he’s pushing, everything that he stands for, he is advancing white supremacy.”

Last night, I received the following email from Melanie Morgan. I thought I'd share it. - A.

Remembering our hero: Rush Limbaugh

I woke up this morning with an uneasy feeling. One of my Facebook friends posted an urgent note to pray for Rush Limbaugh. I replied that I pray for my friend of over 40 years each and every single day. As I always do, I turned on the radio at 9:00 for the beginning of his multi-award winning radio show and to my shock, I heard (for the first time) the voice of his wife Kathryn.

I knew instantly what she was going to say. When she relayed the word that Rush had passed in the middle of the night, I burst out crying.

But I passionately want to share some of the things I know about Rush, and his amazing journey to the center of the Radio world, where he will remain a giant in my life and the lives of millions of Americans.

Since 2001 Limbaugh has been fighting and overcoming several health issues. From an inner-ear disease that required him to wear a hearing aid to a battle with highly addictive painkillers, Rush never let these struggles stop him from reaching his beloved audience, who love and await his positive, patriotic message.

On Rush Limbaugh's 20th anniversary as a radio talk show host, debuting on the EIB (Excellence in Broadcasting) radio network, WorldNetDaily asked me to write a column honoring Rush. So it might seem fairly odd that I began this piece talking about the personal and professional setbacks El Rushbo has experienced in the past few years. But there is a purpose, a higher purpose. Hang with me for a minute.

I have known Rush Limbaugh since I was a teenager beginning in the radio business in my hometown of Kansas City, Mo., where he and I worked at KUDL radio. But when he moved to Sacramento to begin his talk show at KFBK, I asked my boss at KGO in San Francisco to give him a listen. I thought he was really so different from anything that I had ever heard on the radio.

Over the years I watched my longtime friend Rush build his brand into a media powerhouse the likes of which the world had never seen, and likely will never see again. He almost single-handedly forged the talk radio industry as we know it today and built it up into a billion dollar business. Many of the colleagues I now call friends got their start in the radio business with inspiration from Rush.

Over the years, Rush has donated more than a million dollars to my charity organization Move America Forward, making him the largest donor in our history. When I pitched him on the idea of doing a Internet show to raise money for care packages for our troops, he wrote me back “I want IN.”

He appeared on our show raising money to send care packages to the troops for 13 years, always with a smile of appreciation for our work, and nothing but praise for the brave men and women who defend our freedom.

When Rush started getting sicker, I wrote him more frequently about our shared memories. He wrote back that his memory was now ‘gray’ and he was having a hard time focusing. But he promised me he would write back a lengthier note soon.

Sadly, that letter never arrived. His legacy will be defined now. Those who knew Rush and loved him must write his history, lest his haters be allowed to define him. I am determined that should NOT happen.

I will never, ever forget the basic kindness and generosity of Rushton Hudson Limbaugh and all that he has done for America, and given humbly and without expectation.

God be with you, my friend.

You are already missed.

Remembering Rush Limbaugh

The first time I ever heard Rush Limbaugh on the radio was around 1989 while working at Superior National Insurance Company in Calabasas, California. 

Glenn Thornhill and I were driving during our lunch hour and he had Rush on the radio. After listening for a half hour or so, I was hooked. His was a unique show. It was a conservative talk show, but it was entertaining with humorous parodies with hilarious results. From then on, I listened regularly, so much so that it will be life-changing for me. Who am I going to listen to, now that he passed away? 

During that period, or shortly thereafter, Rush had a television show. It was politics mixed with entertainment. Favorite moments from his show included the aftermath of the 1994 mid-term elections where the Democrats got stomped and a skit with actor James MacArthur of Hawaii Five-O fame. 

In L.A., the Rush Limbaugh Show was broadcast (mainly on KFI-AM until a station switch) from 9:00 to noon. Here in New Mexico, I listened on Albuquerque's KKOB-AM from 10:00 to 1:00. 

His last broadcast was about two weeks ago. His voice started to sound gravelly and he admitted to feeling fatigued. I began to become alarmed that his time on earth was ending by his continued absence. But, a guest host this week said that last week was "treatment week" and he will be back when he can. I somewhat relaxed. 

Then, this morning, his wife Kathryn came on following the opening theme (the Pretenders' "My City Was Gone") to announce that Rush passed away this morning at age 70. Totally devastating news to me. It was news we've been dreading.

Who can pick up the torch after Rush? Dan Bongino would be good, but he has his own cancer problems he's now dealing with. 

It was amazing that Rush lasted as long as he did following his diagnosis of Stage 4 lung cancer back in January 2020. He was amazed he lasted as long as he did, he said so last Christmas. Speaking of Christmas, Rush played a lot of Manheim Steamroller Christmas music during the holiday season over the years. 

Thank goodness President Trump awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom during the 2020 State of Union. Who else would have had the chutzpah to award it to Rush with all congressional Democrats present and before a national audience? Priceless! 

We conservatives are in mourning today. But we can also be thankful that we had Rush's voice over the airwaves for as long as we did (over 30 years). 

My condolences go out to Kathryn and the Limbaugh family. He will be sorely missed.

RIP to a legend and a patriot, Rush Limbaugh. Not many people can say they revolutionized and stayed at the top of an industry the way he did. My condolences to his family. - Senator Rand Paul.

REPUBLICAN PARTY OF NEW MEXICO CHAIRMAN STATEMENT ON THE PASSING OF CONSERVATIVE RADIO LEGEND RUSH LIMBAUGH   Albuquerque, February 17—The following is a statement from RPNM Chairman Steve Pearce on the passing today of radio icon Rush Limbaugh:   “Rush was a giant in radio and in the conservative movement. He was a true inspiration for everyone who treasures conservative values and principles.  He was a voice that carried so many important messages and truths in politics and other arenas. I met Rush at my Congressional Orientation in 2003, and he inspired me and encouraged me to always fight for conservatism and to stand up for our cherished freedoms and American ideals.”

What Happened To David Gold?

One of my sources for conservative commentary (and some news) was via former talk show host David Gold's Facebook page.

I noticed this morning that I hadn't seen any postings of Gold's on Facebook. Since I am a follower (or was), I did a search of my Friends list and he wasn't there.

Then, I did some general checking and his Facebook page is gone. 

I don't know if his page was removed by Facebook or he elected to remove it himself.

I checked his Twitter account and he's there, but hasn't used it in 3 years.

If anyone knows what happened (or David himself), please post a comment.

New Twitter Account For Rush Limbaugh

During his show yesterday, Rush Limbaugh (El Rushbo) announced his new Twitter account.

Here's what he said:

RUSH: Let me run through this one more time then we’ll hit the brakes and get back to the phones. I know what my reputation is on social media. I know I rip it, and that hasn’t changed. I think all the things about social media I’ve been critical of are still relevant. But we got three weeks left here, folks. Three weeks left to preserve the American way of life. That’s what I think this election is about. We’re gonna leave everything on the field in support of Trump. In fact, we’re gonna use as much at our disposal as we can.

Trump’s the last man standing as a wall between the American way of life that we know and a radical left agenda that seeks basically to destroy this country as founded. So we fired up a new Twitter account. We’ve had a bunch of them out there, and we’ve used them for various things. We’ve never used Twitter as most people do. Most people use Twitter, post your 140 character thing, you hit send and then you hope you haven’t gotten yourself in trouble. That’s not how we’ve used it. We’ve used it to cross-promote between RushLimbaugh.com and other vehicles. And that’s primarily what’s going to continue.

But we are going to use Twitter and this new Twitter account as a means of furthering the cause. This new Twitter account has a new handle, and this is the only handle that you should use from now on in accessing my Twitter account. It is @RealRLimbaugh. 

We’re gonna be able to tweet out brilliance in a moment’s notice anything that I happen to say that we can make a short video clip out of and post it and get it out there, that’s how we intend to — I may be writing some posts, I don’t know. But primarily it’s a way to provide instant distribution beyond the radio program of things that happen on the radio program, because that is the objective. So, be sure to follow and be sure to look out for what you’re going to revel in as new wisdom is being posted @RealRLimbaugh. That’s the new handle.
