We're now in June and it's time to check the current airfares for round trips from Los Angeles to Tokyo that the Los Angeles Times Travel section writers came up with and what I can come up with.
As reported here last Monday, the prices jumped quite a bit since my May report, so much so, it prompted me to report it.
Yesterday's Travel section in the Los Angeles Times showed the lowest L.A. to Tokyo fare they found as $1,304 and the highest as $1,906, which is the same as last week's. It is inevitable that the airlines will hike up their prices as we move into the vacation season. Keep in mind that these prices don't include any fees and taxes
I checked my favorite source for airline tickets, GatewayLAX and this is the lowest they came up with (June 14 departure from LAX and return on June 22) for round-trip non-stop flights:
The above fare, as indicated, does not include taxes or fees. The prices are higher if a departure date from LAX is a week earlier. So I picked a Saturday departure two weeks from now. Better fares are more likely to be had if one books sooner rather than later.
Although GatewayLAX found a lower price than the Los Angeles Times Travel section, the price does indicate that we are definitely headed into the vacation season. That's another reason why I prefer the off-season for my travels.
Unless there is something unusual in airfare pricing that should be brought to your attention, the next airfare report will be the first Monday in July.
