I didn't have any plans on doing an airfare report until next month, but something has occurred that compels me to do at least a mini-report.
Here it is! (At least the news is good news.)
One week ago, I reported that the Los Angeles Times Travel section published the high and low airfares they found for Los Angeles to Tokyo as being $1,304 to $1,906. This was following a steep rise in airfares since the beginning of May.
I checked yesterday's Times Travel section and they report lower fares from Los Angeles to Tokyo. The range in yesterday's paper was $1,004 to $1,590. Keep in mind, as usual, that the quoted prices do not include any taxes or fees.
This is the first time I've seen airline prices fluctuate in such a short period of time like this. Prices changes are usually gradual and tend to climb until near the end of the vacation season. I will make it a point to check next Sunday's Los Angeles Times Travel section to see if there are any more changes.
