Sad news to report.
Comics Buyer's Guide has ceased publication with the current issue according to a blog post by comics writer and columnist Tony Isabella.
He wrote:
Comics Buyer's Guide has ceased publication with the just-released issue #1699. Obviously, I'll have thoughts to share with you in the very near future. You can read the cold clinical press release that takes no note of CBG's importance in the comics industry here:

I used to be a regular reader of CBG back in the early 1990s when it was a huge tabloid-style publication. I hadn't seen an issue for some time until Tony Isabella reviewed The Monster Movie Fan's Guide To Japan last year (above).
It was through CBG that I got my first gig as a comic strip illustrator. That lasted until the boss's checks started bouncing.
After the death of Don Thompson, his wife Maggie kept it going for around 20 more years. My thanks to Maggie Thompson, Tony Isabella and all the other contributors who kept comics fans informed over the years.
