This has not been a problem for me, except once.
While driving through south central Oregon, I found cell service to be non-existent to spotty at best. I stayed one night at a campground in Juntura, Oregon and got no cell service there. This became a problem as I needed to get a hold of my banker as funds were running low.
Thankfully, that was the only time that I ran into this problem.
RVTravel has an article on a new service that rates cell service at campgrounds so people can check to see how well they can reach "the outside world."
They begin it with:
Imagine if there was a source of information about the strength — even basic availability — of cell service at campgrounds and RV parks across America. How many times have you arrived at your destination and found zero bars on your phone? That normally means no phone service or data service for connecting to hotspot devices.
